Thread: Meikyu Kingdom Card Game: Meikyu Conquest

I bought this card game when I travelled Japan last month and finally my friends and I can play it last night. The game box cover writes "Make you conquest" not "Meikyu Conquest". (You can see it at http://www.boardgamegeek.com/game/20192) Either way is incomprehensibility to non-Japanese. Actually "Meikyu" is the Japanese word "maze". The card game idea comes from a role play game setting by the same publisher. Saying the world is built up with infinite maze and the roleplayers need to discover new land and conquest it.

Although it is a Japan product, the rule book and cards have both Japanese and English on it. The grammer or terms is not very good, you should able to understand the game flow since the rule are simple. (Here is the offical site: http://www.bouken.jp/product/makeyou/product_mayocon.html)

"Meikyu Conquest" is a casual style card game. One game play spend about 20-30 minutes only and you need not spend too much your brain.

One of action a player can take each turn is called "Quest". You can use up unlimited "character card (each one with different 'attack power')". If the sum of attack value + 1d6 larger or equal to target 'dungeon card', you get the dungeon card. However, the game rule doesn't mentioned you cannot conquer a dungeon without character card. A player may get a free dungeon by a good dice throw (some dungeon card with a value 3,4 and most character cards have 0-2 attack points only).

It will make the game too easy to complete. I would suggest every attack (either to a dungeon or another player) should involve at least one character card.

It is my first time writing review. Hope you like it
