Thread: 4 players enter the Fight

We tried a four player version of this game today and I'm glad to report that it worked very well.

Initially every player had a ship in thier hand which meant we got off to a good start.

One player seemed to have a hand of "Outmaneover" cards to start with, which meant he wasn't able to do much to start with.

The other three players were new to the game so we took things slowly and I found myself explaining the rules a number of times. However after a couple of times round the players every type of card had been played and the flow of it was well understood.

My favourite moment was playing an "Outmaneouver" card to strip the leader of his hand of cards just after he had drawn a General Melee therefore stopping him from trashing one of the other fleets.

In general the fleets built up slowly until each player had at least four ships to his name, some going as high as 6. At no point did any player end up with no ships. However I should point out that we were playing with a house rule wherby each lost ship also counted as a lost Morale. I feel the game goes on too long without this addition.

In the end it was newbie who won, despite having a run with no attack cards whatever.

Everyone rated this game after first play as Average.

I'm definitely going to play this game again.
