Thread: Re: Comparision versus NexusOps

Nexus Ops is 'Risk like' with brains or Euro like mechanics....(flame away suckers).

Neuroshima Hex is far more tactical...certainly abstract...I would liken it more to the thinking required for Dungeon Twister than Nexus Ops.

That said they are both excellent games and unless you are a niche gamer that likes a particular style of game, I would recommend getting them both. I certainly need NH in my collection and I should play Nexus Ops more often.

Thread: Re: Comparision versus NexusOps

There is indeed no possible comparison I can see.

Neuroshima is a "wargame" with very abstract mechanics, while nexus ops is a strategy game where you build forces, move them, and battle using dice.

They are both great games though.

Thread: Re: Saboteur & HQ

Whoa. I know it's been 9 months, but it seems to me the only situation where -1 could matter is affecting a HQ, and if the HQ is gonna be removed, the player lost anyway, so only if the opposing HQ is needed to give the last point of damage to the Outpost HQ by itself (in phase 0) is the net result different. So there's no really need to have a hard limit at 0, other than the fact that -1 is scary to some people. Am I wrong?

Edit: I am indeed wrong, HQ can't attack each other. So, since the battle has to be played to the end, the fact that a sabotaged HQ attacks at initiative 0 or initiative -1 is totally irrelevant.

There will be some slight color changes on the board but i guess that all editions will be compatible.

There are some minor differences that do not affect gameplay: for example the Iello tiles are thinner compared to the current Portal 2nd edition and have a different background.
After a lot of games on the server i am going to ask for some things. Please answer me if these things can be done sometime in the future or not.

1. Can we have statistics for each faction (win percentage)
2. Can we have the same thing but for our account
3. Can we have a counter on what tiles have been played by us and our opponent (in regular NH, the discard pile is perfect information and the starting tile pool also).

Thnx for a great addiction.

Rules for the extra Merc tiles

In a 2 player game players may choose to play with 1 or 2 Mercs each, in a 3-4 player game each player chooses 1 Merc.

You place your Merc tile face down next to your face down army stack. Instead of playing a normal tile you may choose to place your Merc on the board and he becomes a member of your army until removed from the game.

A Merc can only be used once in a game.

Last year, I was able to get a copy of Neuroshima Hex! with Neuroshima Hex! - Doomsday Machine, i.e., the Essen version, shipped directly from Ignacy immediately after Essen.

The price quoted on the Portal website is 20 Euros.

Thread: Babel13 Essen Pack 2008

On our website you can find an information about preorders. I paste it here:

"We are happy to announce that this year we are preparing a special 'Babel13 Essen 2008 Pack' for all fans of Neuroshima HEX! This limited edition of our first expansion to Neuroshima HEX, our best selling board game, will have an additional special tile included – Artillery Outpost „Thunder”! This tile connects two spaces on the board in a very special way. On a first space you can put one of Turrets from Babel13 expansion. This way „Thunder” is armed. What about crew? Player who manages to put his unit on the second space of outpost will have his unit working as a crewman and can now use deadly power of „Thunder”! Certainly, when crewman is dead or moved out of „Thunder”, the artillery outpost is free again and waits for the first player who puts his unit there to shot again.
Artwork for this limited tile was prepared by Michal Oracz himself. You can preorder this limited 'Babel13 Essen 2008 Pack' and be sure that you will have it! If you want to purchase 'Essen 2008 Pack', send us an email on portal@wydawnictwoportal.pl to order a copy for you!

„Babel13” expansion includes:
- two additional armies of New York and NeoJungle,
- nine two sided terrain tiles (such as Forest, Bunker, Water) which modify rules of Neuroshima HEX,
- scenario creation rules and free campaign „Babel13 Mission” which consist of 5 very close connected scenarios which bring players to deadly, fascinating final game."

Thread: Re: Mephisto - additional army

Cool army. But the rules are not very easy to understand. It's only a flavor text and then some special exampels. It would be easier to understand if it where more rules how to play it instead of just asuming that everyone already know how to play it. Otherwise i like it and am thinking about printing it out.
