Thread: Boosters 19, 20 to be released May 5

Two of the boosters associated with Federation Commander: Distant Kingdoms, Boosters 19 and 20, are scheduled to be released on May 5, according to ADB. ADB will ship mail orders on May 12. I don't have a date in front of me for Booster 21, but I gather it will be coming up fairly soon after.

Thread: Federation Commander: Romulan Border boosters #7-#9

Amarillo is currently releasing boosters in sets of three coinciding with the release of the main game packages and expansions.

Klingon Border: #1-#3
Klingon Attack: #4-#6
Romulan Border: #7-#9
Romulan Attack: #10-#12

Each booster contains a fixed selection of ships, usually with a common theme. Like previous boosters, most of the ship diagrams are duplicates of those contained in Romulan Border allowing you to stage larger fleet actions. New Command Cruisers are provided for the Federation, Gorn and Romulans as well as a couple other unique Romulan ships.

The Romulan Border package contains a complete set of rules and pieces to play Federation Commander. It is possible to use the diagrams in these boosters with the original Klingon Border game set, however there are a couple new mechanics added with Romulan Border, namely Plasma Torpedoes and Cloaking Devices.

The descriptions here include the ship diagram ID number and name.

Booster #7 - Federation Reinforcements
- Contains 7 ships including the Federation New Command Cruiser

B9: Federation New Command Cruiser
33: Federation New Light Cruiser (x2)
34: Federation New Heavy Cruiser
37: Federation War Destroyer (x2)
45: Armed Priority Transport / Armed Cutter / Small Freighters

Booster #8 - The Battle of Tekezeal
- Contains 7 ships including Command Cruisers for the Romulans and Gorns. If this pack is intended for a specific scenario it must be an add-on as there is no scenario by that name in the Romulan Border rule book.

B10: Gorn Command Cruiser
B11: Romulan KRC Command Cruiser
38: Romulan KR Heavy Cruiser
41: Gorn Destroyer (x2)
42: Gorn Battlecruiser
45: Armed Priority Transport / Armed Cutter / Small Freighters

Booster #9 - Romulan 3rd Star Legion
- Contains 8 ships, lots of Romulans goodies

B12: Romulan Nova Hawk Command Cruiser
B13: Romulan Royal Hawk Command Cruiser **
46: Romulan Battle Hawk (x2)
47: Romulan SkyHawk Destroyer (x2)
48: Romulan War Eagle Cruiser (x2)

** I believe the ship diagram is misprinted and the intended ship type is an "Assault Cruiser".

Ships published in Romulan Border that are not currently available in any boosters:

35: Federation Plasma-Armed Dreadnought
36: Federation Battlecruiser
39: Mobile Base
40: Space Dragon - scenario 'Monster'
43: Gorn T-Rex Dreadnought
44: Romulan Condor Dreadnought

Thread: Federation Commander: Klingon Attack boosters #4-#6

Amarillo is currently releasing boosters in sets of three coinciding with the release of the main game packages and expansions.

Klingon Border: #1-#3
Klingon Attack: #4-#6
Romulan Border: #7-#9
Romulan Attack: #10-#12

Each booster contains a fixed selection of ships, usually with a common theme. As with the boosters for Klingon Border, there are a few new ships for Klingon Attack that can only be found in boosters #4-#6 though most of the ships are duplicates for fighting larger battles. All of the duplicate ship diagrams contained in these three boosters are found solely in Klingon Attack--there are no ships from Klingon Border.

Note: For the most part it is not required that you own Klingon Attack to use these ship diagrams, they will work fine with just the main Klingon Border set. Besides ship chits, the rules found exclusively in Klingon Attack include partial details for the Tholian Web Generator and modifications to the Drone speed for later-year scenarios. Klingon Attack does include more ship chits, map boards, scenarios, and 16 new ship diagrams so it is worth acquiring if you aspire to the captain's chair.

The descriptions here include the ship diagram ID number and name.

Booster #4 - Federation Response Force
- Contains 8** ships including the new Federation Fast Cruiser. A bit odd on including "Federation" in the name as the booster only includes a few Federation ships though Klingon Attack includes very few new Federation vessels overall.

B5: Federation Fast Cruiser
18: Federation Police Cutter (x2)
27: Kzinti New Heavy Cruiser
28: Tholian Destroyer (x2)
29: Orion Pirate Light Raider **
30: Orion Pirate Salvage Ship

** My copy of Booster #4 contained two Orion Pirate Light Raiders for a total of 9 ships. The information on the package indicates it was only supposed to have one Raider. I'll assume this was a packing error unless someone tells me otherwise.

Booster #5 - Klingon Agressor Squadron
- Contains 8 ships including the new Klingon FD7. An absolute must for the conquering Klingon.

B6: Klingon FD7 Fast Cruiser
19: Klingon D5 War Cruiser (x2)
20: Klingon D5W New Cruiser (x2)
21: Klingon E4 Light Frigate (x2)
31: Free Trader

Booster #6 - Kzinti Reinforcements
- Contains 8 ships including two new Kzinti heavier ships.

B7: Kzinti Fast Cruiser
B8: Kzinti New Command Cruiser
24: Kzinti Medium Cruiser (x2)
25: Kzinti Light Cruiser (x2)
26: Kzinti War Destroyer (x2)

Ships published in Klingon Attack that are not currently available in any boosters include:

17: Federation Battlecruiser
22: Kzinti Dreadnought
23: Kzinti Heavy Battlecruiser
32: Juggernaut - scenario 'monster'

Thread: Federation Commander: Klingon Border boosters #0-#3

Boosters for Federation Commander each contain 6 to 8 laminated color ship diagrams. These diagrams are of the same design and quality as those found in the Klingon Border game set.

Each booster contains a fixed selection of ships, usually with a common theme. There are new ships that can be found only in the boosters, however many ships are copies of those found in the Klingon Border allowing you to stage larger fleet battles. Since the Klingon Border game set only includes 16 ships, you'll find yourself needing additional diagrams to play any scenario using multiple copies of a single ship design.

The descriptions here include the ship diagram ID number and name.

Booster #0 - Threat File and Intelligence Briefing
- Contains 6 new ships and a rules booklet for many new weapons not described in Klingon Border like Plasma Torpedoes and Hellbore Cannons.

Z1: Romulan King Eagle Cruiser
Z2: Gorn Battlecruiser
Z3: Lyran Tiger Heavy Cruiser
Z4: Hydran Dragoon Heavy Cruiser
Z5: Wyn Cluster Heavy Cruiser
Z6: ISC Star Cruiser

Booster #1 - Federation Task Force
- Contains 7 Federation ships including the new ship Federation Command Cruiser.

B1: Federation Command Cruiser
1: Federation Heavy Cruiser
3: Federation Light Cruiser (x2)
4: Federation Frigate (x2)
15: Freighter

Booster #2 - Klingon Harassment Squadron
- Contains 7 Klingon ships including the new ship Klingon Command Cruiser.

B2: Klingon D7C Command Cruiser
6: Klingon D7 Battlecruiser
8: Klingon F5 Frigate (x2)
9: Klingon D6 Heavy Cruiser (x2)
15: Freighter

Booster #3 - Border Patrols and Mercenaries
- Contains 7 ships from the Tholians, Kzinti and Orion. Two of these are new.

B3: Kzinti Command Cruiser
B4: Tholian Heavy Cruiser
11: Kzinti Battle Cruiser
12: Kzinti Frigate (x2)
13: Orion Pirate Raider
14: Tholian Patrol Corvette

Ships published in Klingon Border that are not currently available in any boosters:

2: Federation Dreadnought
5: Federation Battlecruiser
7: Klingon C8 Dreadnought
10: Klingon C7 Heavy Battlecruiser
16: Battle Station / Starbase / Planet Killer
Thread: Federation Commander Boosters 1-2-3 Review

Federation Commander uses laminated write-on, wipe-off cards for the game's record keeping. The booster packs for Federation Commander contain extra copies of the most commonly used ship cards. Each contain seven cards, not eight as the manufacturer's info on this site states. Six of the ships in the booster are in the box set that the booster relates to; the seventh is a "bonus" card not in the box set.

Some players might resent having to buy the boosters just to get the bonus card. The bonus cards for boosters 1, 2, and 3 are very similar to the ships that they are variants of. I could only tell the difference between the Federation Heavy Cruiser and Command Cruiser by putting the two cards side by side. The bonus ships are fun to have, but you're not really missing much if you choose not to buy the booster.

Each box set is accompanied by three booster packs. Boosters 1-3 are for Klingon Border, 4-6 for Klingon Attack, 7-9 for Romulan Border, and 10-12 will be for Romulan Attack.

The booster packs don't have any counters, the counters for the ships in the booster pack are in the box sets. The counter for the bonus ship is also in the box set. If a player purchases all the boosters for the box set, he will have enough cards for all the counters in the box set (about 37 cards in total).

The cards are a really useful add-on. Players can simply photocopy the cards if they want to, but buying the boosters is a lot easier than copying the cards and laminating them yourself, with better quality. Those who have a large FC gaming group, or play a lot of FC, will certainly find the extra cards very convenient.
