Thread: Re: Two areas of equal size?

One area is counted as the main one (2 points for each hex), the other area (and maybe smaller areas) gives one point for each hex.
For instance :
2 areas of 10 hexes + 1 area of 4 hexes
= 10*2 + 10 + 4 = 34 points.

What happens if one player ends with two of his biggest areas of the same size? Is the points calculated by one or both?

Thread: Exxit : who would want to leave?

Exxit is one of those deceptively simple games that is immediately
compelling, but which also promises a lot of strategic depth.

The equipment is about as simple as a game can be; 8 black chips,
8 white chips, and 39 hexagons which are black on one side and white
on the other. The goal of the game is to maximize your score by
enlarging the board with hexes of your color.

The game begins with a minimal board of 4 hexagons. In the course of
play, stacks of chips are formed on the board, and forced moves are
created which cause the chips to be redistributed, and sometimes to
fall off the edge of the board. These "off the board" pieces can be
converted to new board squares as the game continues.

The central mechanism in the game is the distribution rule: that
a stack must be picked up, and redistributed one chip per hex,
if the nearest chip in any direction is the opposite color and can be
reached by the redistribution. This forced redistribution can create
a rich landscape of new forced moves, which can be quite difficult
to visualize in advance. At least at the beginner level, the game
is full of surprises.

Among the other good features of this game, it is very portable,
it is easy to handicap, it is easy to see when a game is hopelessly
lost and should be resigned, and the length of the game can be
shortened by using fewer hexagons.

In short: A keeper.
