My favorite is the Farmer Meeple. Because he does such a great job of parodying my least favorite aspect of the Carc games by just lying there on his back and doing nothing.

If it's reprinted, make sure somebody proofreads the English. For example, it's "board games", not "boardgames"!

Ted has sold the very last startplayer games in Essen.
And a sign told us so.
So I think, there would be no reprint, but I didn't know.

We had 5 people show up on game nightfor the first time in awhile. I wasn't too sure what to play, because the group as a whole hadn't gotten together in almost a month...

Hmmm...how about one of my newer games...Hollywood Blockbuster. Let's see, how do we determine who starts the bidding first...

Whoops. Rules say nothing. Let's get Start Player out.

I fan them out for Klay, and he picks...

"The Start Player is whoever had chocolate milk most recently."

"Woo-hoo!" I shout. "I had it last night."

Klay, Randy, and Kevin all shake their heads.

Steve smiled wryly, and said "When last night?"

Uh oh. I thought about it...

"Let's see, it was after supper, before bed. 8:30 or 9?"

"Nuts. I had mine at 6." he said.

One win for me tonight .

After Hollwood Blockbuster (2 wins for me tonight ), we decide to play Santiago. Another recent aquisition of mine.

Yet again, a scan of the rules says nothing about who starts. So we get another game of Start Player in...

We let Klay pick again, and he picks...

"Whoever has the longest belt is the Start Player."

We all scramble to get our belts off (we take our Start Player seriously), and start comparing.

Klay wasn't wearing one, so he obviously loses.

I run down to Kevin. Nuts, his is longer than mine .

Randy goes over to Kevin. Kevin wins again.

Steve now struts over, thinking his chances are good...

"Yep, Steve wins." Kevin says.

Klay looks confused. "Your belt was longer Kevin."

Oooooh. A re-do. How suspenseful.

The second measure shows that Kevin's belt was indeed quite a bit longer than Steve's. No clue how Kevin could make such a big mistake and almost cost himself a victory.

We went on to play Santiago, which Steve won.

A fun night for all of us, and some great Start Player memories.

Now I need to go buy a new belt so I can compete next time. I hate losing.

I have contacted the author; there are roughly two hundred cards, I believe, but they have been numbered like this to allow for additional cards. I bought a couple boosters because I thought there really were so many cards. After having roughly 20 identical repeats in one starter and 2 boosters, I wrote the author and he supplied this information.

After cracking the packages, sleeving the cards (card quality isn't all that great) and shuffling 1 starter, 3 boosters and the 2 cards from the "not going to Essen" promo. We were ready to play. Present players were myself (Mike), Patt, Derek, Kevin, Darryl and Brent for the first 2 games.

A card was flipped...... Whoever has the most cats is the start player.
Patt, Derek and Kevin all tied with a single future tennis racket but that o so needed yellow arrow was pointing directly to Patt. Patt wins! and goes first for Union Pacific.

The next game started exactly the same, I flipped a card and up comes The player wearing the most white goes first, after a little discussion about who had the most white, my beloved Seahawks (quit snikkering ) logo came through. I go first at Winner's Circle.

Last game of the day, Waleah, myself, Dan and Darryl get ready for a game of Hey! That's my Fish. The person with the most 7's in there phone number goes first. Dan pipes up, does my toll free number count?, well if someone has a toll free number just to go first in a game who's to argue? Dan goes first.

A good day of gaming was had at our FLGS with our first look at Start Player. Good "game", worth the investment in my mind and the art/captions are mostly pretty clever. The best part is that sessions are REALLY easy to remember what happened. Don't ask for a Union Pacific session report, too many things going on to remember.

There's actually a moderately close (but only moderately close) correlation between the characters and the people that Ted often plays games with, some of whom are in fact named Hank, Devin, Clark, etc. Of course the mapping isn't either direct or constant, but it is there....

Do you have a favorite Board 2 Pieces character? Ted has done a great job of instilling each B2P character with a personality.

My favorite is RA! RA! is a Meeple of few words. Straight forward and forthright, you always know what RA! is thinking.

I also added my deduction of the rarity on the Wiki. This is the color surrounding the title...

Purple - Common
Orange - Uncommon
Yellow - Rare
Red/Green - Limited

Nothing official, but based on the at least 1 rare, 3 uncommons, and 9 commons per booster.

Bah, What is the point of having an edition of a game for a specific "Convention", yet all are sold out before the convention has even begun.

I think the point of these sets is so that you can pick them up at the fair, so show people "I was there", hopefully some people who pre-ordered one wont be ablt to get to Essen and I can nab a copy.

Rant over. Otherwise, its a great idea.

Agreed. I was disspointed with the card stock. I was hoping for something that might hold up to a few shufflings .

Anybody get any real good rares? My weirdest one involved the peson who most recently ate venison...
