Think of it as having to send troops into the town to check every house. The town still needs to be cleared, even if it looks empty.

Thread: Re: WaW: Eisenbach Gap - The Burning Red Horde

Upon opening the box I immediately commented to the wife “Big box with not much in it”. A little harsh, as I understand the box has room for subsequent expansions, such as Death of First Panzer.

It's a shame that the second expansion will get another mostly nitrogen containing box.

LoS is taken from hex centre to centre, however, there are no centre dots. I’m in two minds as to whether these should be added as it may take something away from the beauty of the board with all those dots.

I wouldn't mark the map - the terrain is relatively empty, so LOS checks should be reasonably rare. Besides which, you would need to mark the centre spot exactly in the centre of each hex, else you are no better off.

My set of counters did have the numbers beginning to roll off the bottom edge for some BMPs. They were still readable though. I understand other games had worse offset problems and the designer has replaced the affected counters with no fuss.

I wish they had put a box around the values rather than an underscore (which sometimes rolls off the bottom, as you say). The line is too thin for easy reading, as well.

An aspect I haven’t seen discussed and which I’ve liased with the designer, is formations entering the board in certain scenarios at certain times. For example in Scenario 4 – Maelstrom, it is stated the Soviets enter the south edge on turn 1, however, any formation can only activate when its chit is drawn, thus if no Soviets chits are drawn in the first turn, no Soviets enter the board.

I have no idea what the official answer is, but I would assume that you just put end ot turn chits back in the cup until the Soviets get their first activation. Else just say turn one starts on the turn they actually draw their chit.

Are they the same thickness as the WaW counters? I ask as it seems it would be easier to feel the difference in thickness when drawing counters for activation. Not that I, or anyone I know, would do that.

Well, I asked the question again (hopefully without confusing things) on ConsimWorld and have had a few replies. Still seems to be some confusion over firing at a hex or a unit...

For now, I plan to go with firing at a unit so 2 units moving would allow 2 units to OpFire, 1 per target.
