Thread: Family Race - first time using all 3 expansions

Played a game with the family today. Wife, me, 4 and 6 yo boys. We have all the things Pitchcar Mini: basic game, extensions 1, 2 and the 2 long straights.

We made a circuit including one long straight, four 45-degree curves, one jump, the new long curves that make crossroads and an assortment of curves and straights (including the chicane) to round up the circuit.

The 45-degree curves make the track engineering slightly trickier but the final result is certainly rewarding. They also make it easier to make tracks similar to some of the real world ones.

My 2 long straights have significant bumps in one of the 2 ends allowing full functionality in only one of the 2 possible directions. One of the straights came grossly damaged but I believe I can still get make it work with smart placement.

We decided to play 2 laps. 6 yo went first followed by 4 yo, mom and me. After the first few curves 6 yo and mom were fighting for 1st place. There was some difficulty in dealing with the crossroads curves and mom wasted too much time with the chicane being overtaken by 4 yo and me. 6 yo had an amazing pitch where he managed a curve, jump, curve and pretty much completed the first lap. Mom fell way behind. I got close to 6 yo who was still the leader. 4 yo fell behind but made up by mid second lap. I became leader for a turn or 2. 6 yo eventually had another amazing jump and finished first. I came a fairly close second, 4 yo third and mom fourth. As the boys play as a team, they were very excited their team won.

Pitchcar is an excellent and unique game. I am very happy I got these 2 newer expansions. Although they don't necessarily make the game even more fun, they certainly allow for more creative and challenging (if you will) tracks. Good chances are I will have the chance to play the game with all extensions tomorrow for the first time with our regular group and I am looking forward to that as we always have great fun with Pitchcar Mini.
