If you mean the tokens from the Mayfair Games edition, this may help.

I hope the colors reproduced OK.

Os

edit: whoops. I didn't respond fast enough!

I opened my unpunched box and I'm not sure what colors you're referring to. The Lucre tokens are yellow. The moons in this expansion are grey.

The rest is cards.

In the original game the colors are as follows (have that too)

Yellowy Orange
Darker Orange
Red
Purple
Peacock Blue
Light Blue

Hope this helps.

-T

Well, the lady that sold me Simply Cosmic and More Cosmic at Gen Con last year said you didn't need the original version with that combo (it included a board expansion for 5th and 6th player in the package)

Thread: Re: Missing Alien Card: Prolong!

YOU HAVE TE POWER TO PROTRACT. When you are a main player, if both players reveal attack cards you may call "extend". You and your opponent must then play and reveal an additional attack card. You may continue to call extended as long as both main players can play attack cards. All attack cards played add to the challenge total. You may stop extending at any time. When the extension stops, challenge results are determined. Kickers multiply the value of the attack card that they are (sic) played during the extension. Card related powers (Chosen, Gambler, Laser, Mutant, Oracle, Visionary, etc.) are applied to each card played during the extension. All cards played are discarded. Players cannot draw new cards during the extension.

Thread: Missing Alien Card: Prolong!

Help! My copy of More Cosmic got two Alien Power cards for Silencer, but none for Prolong. I got everything else the game was supposed to have, including Prolong's Flare card, which was how I figured out who was missing from the Alien Power cards.

Could someone please post the text of the Prolong Alien Power card for me? I'll just ink it in on the back of the extra Silencer card and turn it inside out to use as the Prolong....

Thanks in advance for any help!

This is what I get for buying a game and then waiting a mere 12 or 13 years before checking to see if it has all its parts....
godard (#26223),

I am looking for the Mayfair Version of Cosmic Encounter, I already have Mayfairs Simply Cosmic, and More Cosmic Encounter, I need the basic set which I understand is out of print, but I would like to find a used copy of it, or at least the Alians and Flares from the game, if you know of any store that might sell it or a person that has it and is willing to sell it to me, please let me know, please foreward this email to anyone that might be able to help me,

Also, I wouldnt mind getting my hands on an EON version with all nine expansions, but I know this will be nearly impossible. or please put me on your want/wish list if you have one.

THanks,
Ed Collins
Shred121569@aol.com

Thread: Session Report

Trying to start a game night with some work people, and somehow Cosmic Encounter was brought out. 4 newbies and myself. Woo, what a task.

After a false start with too many elements, we played with one power, flares, most of the edicts, and the reverse cone -- leaving everything else out. I don't like lucre anyway, so no big deal.

It had been a while since I'd last played, so here are my immediate impressions:

-- Boy, the art sure is awful in the Mayfair version. Guess I had just gotten used to it over the years.

-- This is a really complicated game to explain to people, especially when only one person has played before.

-- The game is just as fun as I remembered, even though it went slowly. Seeing new people discover all the fun things you can do is really rewarding (like seeing someone intentionally lose a challenge so they could screw someone with their flare).

First game was a solo victory for Tara (my girlfriend), who was playing Prophet. Unfortunately, I had pre-chosen myself to be Aura so that I could see everyone's hands and help them out. Prophet is really strong when she has that much info, and she took full advantage.

Second (and last) game was a joint win between Tara again (as Spiff) and myself (as Vulch). I had a tremendous number of edicts, and Tara only got one turn as offensive player (she lost & successfully spiffed) -- but due to alliances 4 of the 5 players were up to 4 bases. I wasn't strong enough to win on my own, so I invited Tara for the joint win (I am biased -- and I love the fact that CE has that kind of a metagame surrounding it). And yes, Macron still sucks -- even Bill the newbie noticed it, right about when he realized he could never get more than one card reward as a defensive ally.

Thread: Quick Comments

First of all, be forewarned that this is an expansion only, and cannot be played on its own. Moreover, it can only be played with the MAYFAIR version of Cosmic, not the Eon, West End or Avalon Hill versions.

That said, Cosmic is a tremendous game for many reasons, but the one that keeps me coming back to it again and again is the sheer variety of it. And the more expansions you add, the better.

This leaves the Avalon Hill version sorely lacking, in my opinion. I can't imagine playing a game without those delightful moons (admittedly, I leave a few of the bizarre ones out -- but leave in the tune moon), scary kickers (multiplying your challenge total), reinforcements (adding to your challenge total, and can be played by allies) and more insane powers. The lucre I don't play with actually -- it slows the game down too much for my taste. It does add a
more reliable level of strategy, but since when has CE been a strategy game? I also enjoy the one-shot flares that Mayfair uses, rather than the reusable Eon ones. But I learned with Mayfair, so it might just be a case of liking what you "grew up" with.

I highly recommend picking up the Mayfair version -- Cosmic and More Cosmic (not Simply Cosmic, which parallels the stripped-down Avalon Hill version). Cheaper than Eon, more robust than Avalon Hill, and it's the version I play.
