Boardgames are not ALL about "easier" and "efficiency".

Part of the enjoyment of boardgames to some people is the tactile processing of the bits of the game.
And the coins of Tutankhamen may take a second or two to exchange, but that is part of the process - the reward for collecting the sets.

Taking that part out would take away part of the benefit of playing, for people that are tactilely-oriented.

Thread: anybody else find using paper and pen to track score is easier than the coins?

It takes much time to count out the correct # of coins. Less so when there's 3 or less players, but it seems more feasible to just put a small pencil and pad in the box and just use that to keep track of score. It'd be easier than counting people's reserve of coins. Granted, with many players, while one or 2 players set up the "board", 1 or 2 more players counting out the coins couldn't take any longer, but still.... paper and pencil seem better.
