Ouch, $13.90 shipped for something selling for $4.25 at Essen, got to be a real fan to pay $14 for a mini expansion to a base game that can be picked up for under $20.

When Jay releases it I imagine the MSRP would be no more than $5, which is the MSRP for the Puerto Rico expansion which I think is about the same size (or maybe a little bigger) in terms of amount of square inches of cardboard.

My guess is the delay is just of the usual type, but Jay's new policy on announcing release dates more than a month or two ahead of time, we won't know til it's already ready

I got tired of waiting and ordered a few from Europe. Sold a couple extra copies I purchased on the BGG marketplace quickly so there is definately demand for this.

I guess not January Paul does indeed have them available from his Canadian site (looks to be directly from the French publisher, not from RGG?). The only USA site that even has it in their database is funagain, ThoughtHammer and B&B don't

Nothing had to be fixed in Mykerinos. The base game is still fully playable without the expansion and with the balance we always wanted.

THis has been my experience. But I do like the idea of adding an extra layer of complexity to it.

The expansion is only adding new strategical possibilities, and of course we had to make "strategical room" for them.

We're pretty happy with this expansion since it had a lot with only a few more rules (Nile + new patron power). Basic rules are unchanged...

One of the things I love so much about the original game is how simple it is. This expansion seems to have nearly doubled the rules to "fix" the game.

Or also an unoccupied space on a region... It will twist a bit your usual play:
- Brown is not always sure to get a room in the museum, and the power of going to the museum while being first or second is enhanced (since Green markers are removed before the scoring)
- Tangerine is useful to cross the large nile
- since you have 5 regions to fight (4 standard and the nile) for the same number of spaces, Lemon is also enhanced since you will go more often on pyramids
- sets are easier to do with Green (more than an additionnal color, several Greens can be used in the same set) and if not going in the museum is still not a way to win, going only 1 or 2 times (on the 3-points rooms) is more concurrential
Note that I like the basic game, this is just a different twist!

There will be a 6th patron, but it is different. And with its power (and some reduced areas) the game will be really tense !

I don't think the game needs to be tweaked, so we never planned to have a bigger Museum or to change the actual patrons. We wanted to keep the game simple, so there's just some new tiles (but no extra space) and a new power...

I'll post the rules next week on the website.

Try using Mr Brown more aggressively, not just to get the museum placements you need, but to take the museum rooms that other's need. Just fill the museum as fast as you can, spending as many cubes as you can as fast as you can. You might be surprised how useful Mr Brown really is.

I'd like to see one of the "place an extra cube on the board this turn" patrons replaced with something else.

Violet is awesome, she nets you an extra cube.
"The Mole" has utilitarian value through the game, being able to place on pyramids.
Mr Brown is useful in the beginning, but later in the game he's no good. Perhaps give him a secondary ability.
Ms. "Start w/ 2" and Mr. "Expand w/ 3" should be consolidated into a single piece, perhaps another dual role (or simply get rid of one of those abilities). You end up blowing through your cubes too quickly with them.

If we're going to keep the museum the way it is, we need to stay with 5 patrons. I'm not sure what kind of impact it would have on the tempo and "stretch" of the game if we were to add another.

The icon means "Place a token (of your color) in a parcel or in a museum", booking this space for you for the turn (tokens are removed before the scoring).

Players may not build across or on the river unless they use the green govnor power (similar to yellow but for river)

All of the green tiles will have points values associated with them, and the points values will be higher than average - like 2-3x as high as regular tiles
There will be no green museum area - points come only from the points on the tiles.
Each set of 5 different colors still awards 5 points, and is easier to get since there will be 6 suits.
Six tiles are randomly not used each game - adding risk to specialization
