I might have advanced copies of Genji for the show. That one is less definte than Wasabi.

I also plan to have some copies of Neuroshima Hex - around 60 or so.

I am not bringing the bulk of my back catalog as I used to do. Probably nothing older than 1960. If there is something you really, really want, then I urge you to email me within two weeks or I cannot promise to get it there in time. The earlier you get me the info the better chance I'll have it waiting for you.

Afraid not.

It appears that Z-man is forced to take Wasabi! to a new printer due to unresolvable difficulties with the original printer. I assume that Genji and other titles are suffering the same fate as well.

Best information so far on a release date is "2-3 months once a new printer is secured". So we're looking at September or October.

Dammit.

I am debating on adding this to a pre-order that is waiting for Agricola....just wondering if it will be out at LEAST before Agricola, so that it won't be held up for this one. Last I saw it was supposed to be out by the end of june.

o'Lava, that's a great question, I'm glad that you asked.

The short answer is yes, you may use Switch! to swap two adjacent Ingredient tiles so that you can then play an Ingredient tile in order to Complete the recipe with style.

Keep in mind though that you may also first play the ingredient if you wish, and then use Switch! in order to swap tiles in order to complete the recipe with style.

In fact, with careful planning (or brilliant luck) you could even place an Ingredient tile, claim a Completed recipe and then use Switch! to swap Ingredient tiles in order to complete up to 2 other recipes. Or vice-versus. All with or without style.

Remember, a recipe is Completed once/if you Assign a Challenge Token to it.

I place a tile and complete a recipe (without style).

Either direction is fine, as long as the ingredients are in a horizontal or vertical uninterrupted sequence identical to that seen on the Recipe Strip.

When completing recipe with style, do the sequence need to be from left to right and up to down, or you could do it with right to left and down to up? The rules doesn't specifically say so, and the example just from up to down.

Is the release date of May '08 still valid? That's what the publisher's webpage says, but one of the webstores (can't remember which one it was) has the availability date of June '08.

I actually did playtest this with Zev at Origins '07 in two- and three-player matches. It's definitely an abstract that happily found its perfect theme. (Although as I understand it the theme came first.) The BGN preview that Eric links to describes it as well as I could. My basic criterion for a game is, "Are the decisions interesting?" and Wasabi! succeeds here -- you have to consider every move, and there are multiple dimensions to that (which ingredients do you take from the pantry and where do you place them; what complexity of recipe will you pursue; how can you maximize the advantage of the special action cards). For being multiplayer solitaire on overlapping tableaux with opportunities for screw-you play, Wasabi! works. That said, I wouldn't naturally Wasabi! in any specific way with Citadels, Bohnanza or Bang! (unless what you like are games with exclamation points in them). But generally speaking, liking those three games (I haven't played GRfOS) indicates diverse taste and a preference for light games, and I would guess that Wasabi! would be a success. The designer has illustrated/graphic-designed other games in the past, and indeed, it's a very handsome game, in case that's the factoid that puts it over the hump for you.
