Thread: Re: black counters

I can see how one might interpret it that way, but I don't think that's the intent, and we certainly haven't been playing it that way. The rules say you get to make a second move and take a counter, and then say this second move can be backwards. They don't say that a backwards move doesn't get you a counter.

And if you move it forward, you get to take an extra token? But if you move it back, you don't get anything, right?

Thanks.

Thread: Re: black counters

A black counter is used to take an additional turn. On that additional turn, the pawn can be moved forward or backward. You can not use a black counter to move a pawn backward on your normal turn.

Thread: black counters

The rules left me with a question:

Can black counters be used to take an additional turn AND move a pawn back, or just 1 of those 2 options?

Echoing the Knizia comment. In fact, this reminds me a lot of Tal der Abenteuer

Knizia-esque. Reminds me of bits of Loco!, Tutankhamen, and Bucket Brigade combined. Although one other player did say it reminded her of That's Life (which I can't stand).

Thread: Re: My Guess at Gameplay

Now, maybe I'm very bad at guessing how a game will play by reading the rules, but when I read them a few weeks ago I decided the game would not be to my liking.
However, I was sent a copy last week and have now played it about 10 times (it plays quickly in no more than 20 minutes). It is actually a rather good game which I have rated as a firm 7 out of 10. Fun to play with good player interaction, no luck but no need for it to suffer from over analysis either.

Not to mention the first color to finish is worth the most. There's actually no need to guess at the rules - English rules come in the box and are available at Schmidt's site.

Let me guess...

It's plays like That's Life, except the color of the first player to finish makes all the tokens of that same color worth 1 point, the color of the second player to finish makes all the tokens of that same color worth 2, etc...
