Hiya Neil,

You guessed right on the first question: the cost to rotate a tile is one credit per tile.

Dave is correct on the second: The active player (i.e. the one who is slandering) may return the slandered support marker to the supply, or pay one credit to take the support token for himself.

Cheers,

Jack

The active player performing the slander action can pay a credit and take the support token he just caused the other player to lose. Otherwise, the support token would go back into the supply
Thread: Two questions: "Infiltrate Guilds" and "Gain Support"

I have a couple of rules questions that I'm just checking my understanding on...

1 - In the "Infiltrate Guilds" phase of a players turn the rules state

... for one credit you may rotate a guild tile 180 degrees ... You can rotate as many guild tiles as you want during the Infiltrate Guilds phase...

Although not specifically stated, I assume the cost is 1 credit per rotated tile as opposed to 1 credit to rotate as many tiles as I wish?

2 - In the "Gain Support" phase when scoring a 'Slander' card, the rules say

.. You may pay one credit to the bank to keep that support token for yourself instead of returning it

Does that mean if I'm the one being slandered against, I can pay a credit instead of losing the support token, or is it directed to the active player, and therefore applies to the one besmirching my good name, who as well as robbing me of support token can also pay a credit and take it for themselves?

Having played an earlier prototype a couple of times, I'm eager to play the finished article....

Cheers

I'll be sending out the pre-orders as you pay, over the next week or two, with the stocking orders going out next week.
Thread: Arriving Next Week! Last Chance to Pre-order

I've just heard from the German printers that Carpe Astra will be shipping to my warehouse next week - two weeks earlier than planned! I should receive the game next Friday or early the following week. That means there is only one week left for pre-orders (and your chance to save 30% on the British retail price of 22GBP), as they close when I receive notification of the shipment departing from Germany.

To those of you who have already pre-ordered, I'll be contacting you next week to arrange payment and delivery.

Cheers,

Jack

Thread: Carpe Astra Demo at Essen

Hiya all,

Unfortunately Carpe Astra won't be back from the printers in time for Spiel '08 in Essen, the manufacturing delays for It's Alive! delayed it too much. However, it will be demoed on my stand (Hall 4, stand 4-415) at Essen along with It's Alive! (which will be available to buy at 15 Euro) and Krakow 1325 AD (35 Euro).

Come along and try it out!

See you there.

Cheers,

Jack

Hiya All,

The first half of Carpe Astra (the boards and the cards) has gone to the printers in Germany today. The rest will follow in a couple of weeks. This sets us up for delivery at my warehouse during the second half of November is everything goes smoothly. Of course, as the recent delays on It's Alive! show, the best laid plans can go awry, but fingers crossed.

I'll post some images of the artwork next week, and the rules as soon as they're finished.

Cheers,

Jack

A further update:

Unfortunately, Carpe Astra won't be ready in time for Spiel '08 in Essen, but I will have a demo copy with me at my booth 4-415 in Hall 4. The demo copy will have finished art, but will be home-made Carpe Astra is going to the printers in Germany this week, it should be ready in 8-10 weeks, so hopefully by the end of November, but as It's Alive! shows the best laid plans can often go awry, so don't bet on that date

Cheers,

Jack

I don't have any finished art as yet but you can see some photos of the homemade (and hence totally prototype quality!) components used in the copies I'm testing at the moment on my blog:

http://creationandplay.blogspot.com/2008/07/carpe-astra-prot...

Obvious the art will be much better on the finished game. The same artist who did It's Alive! will be doing the art again.

Cheers,

Jack

Thread: Release Schedule

Hiya All,

Just an update on the production on this one. I had hoped to get this out in July/August, but I ended up selling out of the Limited Edition of It's Alive! in May, which left a big hole in my stock. Since going full-time into games publishing I couldn't afford to sit for months without any stock of anything, so I decided to get out a professional re-print of It's Alive! to fill the gap. The professional re-print of It's Alive! has now gone to the printers and should be ready in a few weeks. In the meantime, I'm now concentrating on Carpe Astra. There are a few playtesting copies floating around getting any kinks in the rules sorted out, and the artist is now working on the art for the game.

I hope to have this ready for Essen now, but this is a fairly tight schedule, so we'll see.

Thanks for your patience.

Cheers,

Jack
