Thread: Re: Hellcat in Fire from the Sky?

The problem is that we have a fixed number of cards in the box. These "exchange cards" would be useless for most owners of the box (those not having the old DoW edition), and would impose to put less useful cards in it. If we do it in a booster with the maneuvre cards to be used with them, any owner of the booster can find them useful apart for the owners of the new DoW edition.

I'll speak about it with Nexus.

Thanks a lot!

Andrea

Well no, since they'd be without maneuvre decks. Thay will be with the miniatures that we will be released later in this year. We could consider putting them in a booster maybe, with the C decks and new color schemes.

All the best,

Andrea

Looks like we will have to wait for Me110, Mosquito, etc., into 2009...

I hope this will include a P-38 Lightning, The only US fighter in production from the beginning to the end of the war as well as all fronts.

Thanks Brian, it was. I saw the question when I was on the run and couldn't find it in a hurry.

To paste in the WoW info from that link and review dates:

Finally, there’s a ton of Wings of War items spread throughout the coming twelve months:
February—Flying Legend and Eagles of the Reich, two booster packs for the WW2 series; also, a miniatures package of WW1 airplanes
April—Immelmann and Dogfight Squadron, two booster packs to add more planes to the WW1 series
June—Fire from the Sky, a new game set for the WW2 series; also, a miniatures package of WW1 airplanes
October—Flight of the Giants, a new game set for WW1 that introduces a nunmber of bombers
December—Balloon Busters, a boxed set of WW1 miniatures that will include models for Drachen Caquot/AE800 and Nieuport 11 in two different painting schemes
In addition to all of this, Nexus is taking a cue from its line of WW1 miniatures for Wings of War and releasing a series for WW2. The 1/196 scale pre-assembled and pre-painted planes from the first years of that international conflict will be sold in complete sets and as individual planes. The first release will include the Supermarine Spitfire, Messerschmitt Bf 109, Mitsubishi A6M2 “Zero” and Grummann F4F-3.

The items listed for February-- DoWW2 boosters and Series 2 WoW minies-- were pretty available in the US by mid May.

Immelmann and Dogfight became available in July.

We have not seen any updates on anything beyond those items, (or any official announcements after this story came out) but the first two were approximately 3 months in becoming available in the U.S., so, with luck, we might see Fire in the Sky and Series 3 minies by late September-- but that's pure guess. It being mid August now and no postings of any of them in Europe, I'd say that is our "soonest possible."

As I said before, we may hope for these in our Christmas stockings...

Chronological order makes sense if that is what they are going for. It would be great to see the US Hellcats, Mustangs, and Corsairs of the later war! Maybe future releases...

Thanks to Andrea as well for your response. In my opinion, you are the hardest working man in the game business!

Thread: Re: Hellcat in Fire from the Sky?

Makes sense-- these things grow best when they grow with a specific chronological order, and starting "early" and working your way to later planes is a good idea.

Things got very confused over on the WWI side when the system jumped from "mid '17 and later" planes to much earlier models with the N-11 and Halberstadt (and Roland). I love having these planes, and they will be nicer still when we have the "Immelmann" booster, but they have set up some confusion in the system that it still has not recovered from.

I'm glad to see DoWW2 being more careful and hope that continues.

I know everyone on earth is asking "is (so-and-so) plane going to be in the next set?" Forgive me. I'm just curious if the Hellcat is going to be available in Fire from the Sky as it was an excellent plane for the U.S. and a considerable improvement over the Wildcat available in Dawn of World War II.
