Thread: The Dangers of Starting in a Corner Kingdom

Players: Avri, Marc, Betzalel, Eli

In the three player game there were about 7 monuments built or something ridiculous like that. The score was absurdly lopsided and high scoring. I didn't see exactly what happened that game, but it was definitely a strange game.

In my game Eli demonstrated the dangers of starting off in a corner kingdom. I started by the North-East river, Marc was in the North-West, Betzalel was in the South-West, and Eli played to the South-East corner quite close to my kingdom. As we built up our two kingdoms became seperated by one tile and I was concered about the outcome of the green/black wars. Fortunately Eli had grabbed the Southern-Central treasure and had left his leaders attached to a single temple that now no longer had a treasure on it. I was able to catastrophe away both his leaders and annex all his land along with grabbing a treasure. Using the newfound strength from Eli's kingdom I was then able to demolish Betzalel's King and score more much needed black points. Eli in the meanwhile had a hand full of black tiles that he needed to get rid of. After a mistaken stint in the North-East, he placed his king in the South-West kingdom in a suicidal looking manouver to tempt me to war with it again (into his 5 black tiles in hand). At this point in the game though all the kingdoms were dangerously close to eachother and Instead I attacked in the North from the North-West kingdom where my priest and farmer were into Marc's Central-North establishment, attacking the farmer there and scoring some blue points. Eli warred against me to discard all his black tiles and knock off my king, but I ended the game on the next turn by taking another blue and red and handing Marc the last treasure to end the game. One monument (green/black) was built this game and it only stayed around for a turn or two before the game ended. It was a fairly quick game.

Final Scores: Avri 6, Marc 3+, Betzalel 3, Eli 2
