Thread: Wheel of Fortune

Wheel of Fortune is the board game version of the TV game show.

The game is for 2-4 players. You can have a host as in the TV show or you take turns in being the host. The aim of the game is to accumulate the most money at the end of four rounds. To accumulate money you need to solve the puzzle that is set before you otherwise you lose any money acquired during that round at the commencement of the next round.

The game comes with numerous preconfigured puzzles based on numerous categories that range from Entertainment Stars and the roles they are famous for to Things. If you played this often you would know these puzzles however it is easy to make up your own puzzles.

To play the game you spin the spinner and determine the dollar value you are trying to win by correcting a correct consonant. A vowel can be bought for $250. Everytime you guess correctly you get the dollar amount, an option to guess the puzzle and another turn. However the wheel also has a Bankrupt and a Lose a Turn. It also allows you to get a free spin.

To round off the components you have a stand with 'switches' that reveal the appropriate letters when guessed correctly as referenced from the rulebook. It also has paper money and a letter board to mark off which letters have been said.

The only real difference with the game and the TV show the increasing money on the wheel for each round, the prizes that you would use as wedding gifts and the cheesy host and eye-candy turning the letters. That being said I have had my fair share of comments about my eye-candy potential, but from my wife after she has polished off 6 pints of Guiness!

This is not a game I would ever suggest to play in a small group. It works well as a party game but I would suggest there are better party games out there. If you are a fan of the show and your family and friends are too but you never had the gumption to call the contestant line then this is the game for you.
