Thread: Comparison to Tuttmemo

I wish Tuttmemo was in the database. Could someone please add it?

It's based on the same concept -- a memory/concentration game based on matching images of breasts, and I think it's a better game. The components are pretty high quality (the cards may fray, but they're thick and sturdy) and the images are clear and are shot specifically for this game (unlike Busen Memo which seems to be made from someone's porn collection).

It's interesting that the two games seems to have very different intent but based on the same idea: Busen Memo strikes me as a game made by giggling guys, while Tuttmemo is made by third-wave feminists. I think it does show in the finished result, but nevertheless, both games have the same premise.

It seems that the makers of Tuttmemo were unaware of Busen Memo when they made their game.

The existence of both games have sparked interesting debates in some of my groups on intent, ends, means, political correctness, feminism and sexuality.

Thread: Re: PnP versions?

Boards & Bits sells it.

PnP? Just search and capture photos from any of the images web sites. (Google, AltaVista, Images.com), and just search "breasts". Trust me, you'll find all of the pairs you will need. Capture the (items in question) as a 2x by 1x rectangle (with a photo editor), then divide the rectangle into 1x by 1x squares. Print, attach to the surface of your choice, cut out, and "voila"!, you've got your homemade "Bussen Memo".

Mind you, I've never attempted this project, but this is how I would go about it.

Depending on your preferences (and what's available in your hand...), you could counter with any of the scoring cards (Europe, Asia, Africa, Central America, Middle East, etc.) .

Make sure that you express Solidarity with your playing partner; encourage them to Tear Down This Wall and have some fun .

Flower Power is a great co-strategy depending on how you put it into practice (works well with Liberation Theology) , Muslim Revolution will probably fail .

Duck and Cover is not recommended (otherwise, why even play the game?).

Thread: 4 Player with Rules Variant

After stumbling upon this legendary game for sale at an online retailer who stocks imports, I could not pass it up.

Having heard of Busen Memo's high degree of difficulty, I decided I wanted to try and just match the pieces face-up before bringing it to the table. With a lot of help from my 4-year-old son (who was better than me at finding matches) and some reluctant help from my wife, we were able to find most of the matches, but we had a few pieces left over.

For our actual game, I imposed a house-rule -- after flipping up two tiles, we only flipped one back down. On your turn, you could take any matches you oould spy.

The game started out slowly, with each of us eventually getting one match. As more pieces stay revealed, Quyen took an early lead. Tim and Ken kept in contention, but I started severly lagging.

Then Ken, with his photagrapher's eye, made a move and surged past Quyen, who desparately tried to keep pace, but was unable ever to retake the lead. Tim wasn't too far behind Quyen, threatening to battle for 2nd. I fell farther and farther behind, almost to a spoiler position.

Ken took the game with 2 maches more than Quyen, with Tim 2 matches behind Quyen. I was about 10 matches off of the leader.

Comments
It's really hard to make matches, and next time we play, I am going to going to trim the deck down some -- I will probably remove about 1/4 of the pairs that are the most difficult to match. Not only will this make the pairs more distinct, it will create a smaller board, so we can play with the standard Memory rules.

At the end of our game, we were left with 2 pieces that did not match. That meant we either had a bad match somewhere (we couldn't find it) or there is a misprint in the game.

Speaking of misprints -- there are definitely some pairs that have glitches where they have been put through different filters and don't match in color/tone.

A lot of photography experience seemed to help match up the shadows, tones and filters. Being color-blind (me) was a real detriment.
-Try to stick to the corners and edges when flipping the cards in order to be methodically.
-Trying to match the breasts in order of the breasts you yourself have fondled may also help memorizing the busen.
-Otherwise, there are several busen that can be remembere more easily if attention is paid to the nipple instead of the size, shape and hue of the breast itself. There should be 3 of these pairs and they should be tried to be scored early in the game.

There is no "answer sheet", so it can be difficult to determine if two tiles go together.I would have thought that was deliberate. (Not that I've seen it to comment.) Irregularities of the human form would make for an interesting tweak to a simple mammory game. But I guess there would have to be, as you say, a player's aid to settle disputes.

I also recall there was a website... "do you know your arse from your elbow" with 20 pictures which could either be someone's bottom or could be the crook of an elbow. It was pretty funny to try to guess which was what.

Busen Memo is a memory game in which players are expected to make pairs. The big draw for the game over other memories seems to be that in this case you match mammories. The game comes with 96 tiles each of which depicts half of a picture of a woman's chest. The goal is to flip over a tile, then find the matching tile. At the end, the winner is the person who has collected the most matches (I should note here that I have played this game about a dozen times and have never won - I even lost to my wife twice).

Once you move past the obvious draw, the game has a few problems. There are a number of pairs which can be very difficult to identify. There is no "answer sheet", so it can be difficult to determine if two tiles go together. There are a few things that exacerbate this problem. First, many of the pictures are taken in black and white, which reduces the variation in skin tone, making matches harder. Second, not every "pair" features a visible right and left breast - in some cases you see only part of a breast which makes it harder to match. The final thing is that there is one pair that is only a pair because the artwork is similar in style - the actual pair is very dissimilar.

All this combines to make this a poor memory game. A game where the pieces to be matched aren't identical is hard enough, but throw in that some matches are very difficult to discern even when the tiles are next to each other and the dilemma is clear.

That said, this is a great game to pull out at a bachelor party or other guy's night out event. Overall, I've had some fun with this purchase, but I don't think I'd make it again.
