Any update Adam?

Adam Starkweather from MMP games has stated they will be reprinting this game- or at least they'll be putting it up on their pre-order page.

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/14424

Excaliber (#30452),

There may be similarities, but this is not based off Legend of the Galactic Heroes (there are a few games that are, at least one by Tsukuda games if I recall correctly).

Just wanted to correct you guys, this game does seem to be based off one of the BEST space opera style animes.
Called "legend of the galactic heros" It pits the alliance vs. the galactic empire.
you should check out the series. very good.

Wow, thats a labour love if ever I heard of one! hehe

When I say produce I dont mean to a pro standard, I have a tendancy to produce new counters and bits for games I enjoy but dont quite cut it (Federation and Empire, Battlecry et al) which are FAR from pro standard but are acceptable.

Actually to be honest I really enjoy the making new counters and stuff, it really adds to a game for me!

Best of luck with your translating, my virtual hats off to you!

Thread: Re:Information?

liberor13 (#23717),

Unfortunately, my boardgame translating so far, other than Monster Maker (and my spell translation for Wizardry: Tiltowait), usually has consisted of photocopying the rulebook and writing the English between the lines of text (I write the English sentences immediately over the JPN sentences). Not something that I can upload; even a scan isn't good; my writing isn't neat enough (though a photocopy may be good enough..)

I don't have the skills to 'produce' and English version; I'm still trying to come up with a good way to make English cards.. So far I've come up with printing on stickers and pasting the stickers to one side of the card as a possibility, but I'm more likely to just do something like type up a long reference sheet and randomly roll dice
in place of drawing cards (only problem is stuff like Magic Empire which has spells you're supposed to draw and then keep secret)...

Thread: Re:Information?

Thanks for your reply

As for an anime feel, I was looking for a game that plays like your classic manga/anime robots and space opera's. The only name that comes to mind is Robotech at the moment but I'm pretty sure there are loads of them.

I've played Mekton Zeta in the past but it still felt like a slightly faster version of Battletech and wasnt as epic as I was really hoping for.

Translation sounds really tough! Rulebooks and cards will take you some time I'm sure. Will you then produce an English langauge version for yourself/group or just have the translations lying around? Or is it just a collection piece?

liberor13 (#23687),

I haven't actually played it, I just got the game last week, and I'm in the middle of working on the long translation for myself on the "Rise and Fall of the Magic Empire" game first. However, I haven't glanced through the book.

Not sure what you mean by 'anime feel'. It is not based off an anime (check the "games by Tsukuda games" list for a *lot* of those), but being made in Japan, has some of the similar type plot points used for its random events.

It looks very interesting to me (which is why I bought it (^^)), but I'm not likely to get a chance to play it anytime soon (translating magic empire, at 26 pages and 200+ cards, is going to take forever for me ^^;. Although the rulebook is something like 14 pages on this one, this game also has a lot of cards, again around 200).
