Thread: User Review

It's hard to think of this as Yahtzee; it is almost a different game.

There are dice and a cup. Visually, that's about it. In terms of play, you roll dice, trying to get a certain result, but it isn't numbers this time, it's pictures. Instead of marking it with a pencil on a pad of paper, you have cardboard tiles to place over pictures on a game mat. Roll the dice; Goofy, Goofy, Goofy, Daffy, Daisy (stickers on nice heavy plastic dice). Roll the Daffy and Daisy again. Goofy, Mickey. You've got a Yahtzee, as Mickey is a "wild card"! Put a your Goofy tile (each player has a set of character tiles with a unique color) on the game mat in the Goofy row, 5 column.

Repeat until all spots on the game mat have been covered. To score, count each of your character tiles based on the column they are in. You have a Daisy tile on row 3, a Goofy column on row 5, etc.

In the standard rules, a character can only have one tile in each column, thereby allowing only one player to score a yahtzee with Goofy, or one player to score a three on Daisy. We use a house rule allowing each player to score in each column. We set the tiles on top of the previous one. This removes the one strategic element of the game, but that's ok with us.

A great kids game--solid, colorful and interesting, but definitely not a tool to teach Yahtzee to youngsters.
