Thread: WAY beyond the Thunderdome!

Krash is the car combat game for people who hate number crunching and lots of rules. This game is about as simple as mini gaming can be.
I picked up one of the starter packs back in 2001 and also grabbed the Monster Truck expansion. I plopped down my hard earned cash, I was a jobless high school student at the time, and raced home with visions of Mad Max movie mayhem played out on my mom’s coffee table.
I got home and hollered for my brother who raced out of his bedroom to see what treasure I had brought home. I showed him the game box and his eyes nearly popped out of his head. “COOL!!!!!” We tore open the boxes and spread the contents out on the coffee table (scratching the wood surface in the process, sorry ma). First thing I noticed was tons of metal. I had played Warhammer 40K and I was used to metal minis, but only in small amounts. The box was packed with cool guns, wheels, missiles, and car body kits.
I started trimming up the guns and such as my brother cleaned up the car body pieces. I heard a groan from him and knew something was wrong. The box came with the pieces for two cars, a sedan and a station wagon. Unfortunately, the molds for the minis must have been created by a child, because nothing fit together right. We clipped and filed and cut the metal bits and still the cars barely fit together and even then they were full of gaps and seemed lop-sided. I was bummed. I had all these cool guns and things and the cars themselves were unusable.
My brother came up with a great idea. We grabbed a couple of cool Hot Wheels cars and ran outside. We spent a half hour hurling the Hot Wheels at the ground and scraping them on the sidewalk until our once pristine cars were bashed and battered warrior cars. I quickly slapped some black paint on the gun bits and glued them to our Hot Wheels. It was game time.
The rules are printed in a small rule book that opens top to bottom which makes rules referencing a little tough, but luckily the game is simple enough to internalize in one play or so. Players pick a car and jot down their life points -30- and starting speed. Place a little war game terrain on the table and start the cars at opposite ends.
Each turn players can perform 3 actions.

1-	Speed up 4 (Each car can have a speed of between 0 and 24, this is measured in centimeters)
2-	Slow down 4 (see above)
3-	Turn 45 degrees (anything over 45 degrees requires a maneuver roll, 2D6 and beat a score of 6, otherwise roll on the crash table)
4-	Fire Weapon (roll 1D6 and add or subtract the weapons modifier, anything but a 1 hits and causes 1D6 damage plus weapon strength,)
5-	Use Item (the cars can have mines and tire spike etc., this action deploys said items)
6-	Sideswipe (when a car is in range to hit another car a sideswipe is available, causing damage and a roll on the crash table)

Players may choose any 3 actions and may repeat actions as long as the car has moved it speed in centimeters before the turn ends.
Basically that’s it, there are some rules for ramps and terrain, but its nothing more complicated than an extra damage roll or a movement modifier. Other than the poorly designed minis, I really enjoy this game. I find it plays in under an hour and can be played with little heavy thinking.
Want a great night of gaming? Track down the rules for this game, a few cool Hot Wheels, and a copy of Road Warrior on DVD and spend the night blowing up cars and shouting at each other about gasoline, V8 Interceptors, and Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla.

P.S. This game is OOP and the publishing company is now defunct, but I have seen the Starter pack on E-Bay, usually grouped with other OOP minis.
