And, if you have to use his limited movement to move to the center of a platter, in order to threaten to get one turn of swift movement, it's going to take you at least a couple of turns to get there, and then maybe you're going to get one decent move. Not very good.

I HAD to try to keep up with the Victory Point race in these two Adventures or concede them to the other team. When I moved near these Adventures, Brad gained my move +2 and would always beat me to the Adventure AND he had an easier time SQUEEKing them.

Well, it's not like you didn't know what his ability was. I can't see how you were better off for giving him the movement boost, since he also has better stats. You would have been better off running around him, instead, even if it took you extra turns.

For any slow character, if they always happen to get good dismissal rolls, and end up near where they need to be, then speed isn't so much of an issue. But, if your opponent manages to force a long skinny map (even with 3 platters), you can often end up very far from where you need to be.

Thread: Re: Brad

I would agree with the "phenomenal" reference for the Mercenary Camp, Lith Alliance and especially the Ruins of Cany XII. I don't know how many platters you typically play with, but, I usually use 3 in a short to medium game. If Brad is in the center of a platter, his 6 range for the Expert Avoider covers the entire platter, and a space on connected platters. In a 3 platter game with a reasonable number of characters, you almost always have characters on all 3 platters. I have never used him and only played against him once, but this power was used for more than half the game, making him one of the fastest guys in that game. Brad was consistantly dismissed relatively close to the Ruins or the Lith Alliance and moved toward one or the other. I HAD to try to keep up with the Victory Point race in these two Adventures or concede them to the other team. When I moved near these Adventures, Brad gained my move +2 and would always beat me to the Adventure AND he had an easier time SQUEEKing them. I have not seen a character that does better in the Ruins since Brad needs a 9 to SQUEEK every space that requires a die roll. The best other characters can get (only based on ability rating) is an 8 to SQUEEK and that is only for 1 space.

My guess is that you use many platters and few characters if you discount Brad's Expert Avoider speed.

Thread: Re: Rules Questions...

It's not a misprint at all. It's number of characters per side.

Remember, though, these are just suggestions. As an example, we played 10 characters per side on three platters the other day. Loads of fighting. There was always someone close to fight.

Yeah, 32 characters total on 7 platters for 5 hours would be pretty epic.

Usually the best way to play it is: 2 Characters per Team per Platters.
- 3 platters = 12 characters (6 per team).
- 4 platters = 16 characters (8 per team).
- and so on ...

Ciao!

I don't have the rules in front of me, but in general, if you want a large map, you'll need a lot of characters on it if you expect any conflict. So its probably not a misprint, just a game that uses a lot of platters! I know that I've played games with four platters and each team had six characters, and there was very little reason to fight the other team.

Personally, I'd likely have a hard time managing a team of sixteen, but if I had a teammate, he could take eight and I could as well...Now I just need to find three friends who want to play DOA with me...

Thread: Rules Questions...

Subject: Question about Rules...
I have the Masters Guide rule book, and on page 6 there is a chart giving suggested game sizes... The category called "Chars" is defined as number of characters per team. Is this correct??? Or should it read number of characters per game!!! I find it hard to believe a game with 32 characters, (16 per team)... Is this a misprint??? Please advise!

Thanks

Comparative advantage is what the game is all about. Losing a few movement pips on a relatively fast character, to deny Brad an extra several movement pips, is a no-brainer.

He's tricky. He's not useless.

I don't think he's useless, I never said that. But he doesn't seem "tricky" either.
Thread: Re: Brad

You pointed out that he's unlikely to actually do damage if given a ranged weapon, but if I happen to get an atypical weapon with good range and tons of damage would you really risk sending someone into his line of fire? Also note that his ability to squeak with a weapon ignores all line of site modifiers. He can be a far more effective sniper on a platter with a lot of terrain than most other characters can be.

Also you miscalculated his hitting chances above. To hit he squeaks on a 2-7. For damage he squeaks on a 2-9. So he's got a nearly 50% chance of doing x-1 damage on any given attack - again, ignoring any terrain modifiers.

Also, the opponent cannot simply keep people away from Brad to deny him his increased speed. You will have a full opponent's turn after your turn in which Brad leaves a dome for a possible banishment roll. That's a quite easy way to have an opponent within 6 spaces of Brad so his ability kicks in on your turn. If you know where your opponent is planning on going on his next turn you can likewise position Brad so he'll get a boost once your opponent has moved. Do you think your opponent would sacrifice his own efficiency to deny Brad some extra movement for one turn?

He's tricky. He's not useless.

-MMM

They will just stay away from him. I guess he's a lot better if you play with a relatively high ratio of units to platters.

Further, if you dedicate Brad to the task of advancing your marker on such keys your opponent will need to match unless he wants to give up the point. If he chooses not to match, Brad earns you a relatively easy point or two.

You would have to have a very favorable key placement for him to do even 6 challenges over the course of a game (unless others come nearby), and he'd have to avoid even a single roll that sends him far away.

I agree this looks like the best use, but he still seems really bad to me.

Of course you have to make sure that the key or keys you intend for Brad to adventure on are reasonably accessible to him. For example, it's not uncommon in our group to plant the Ruins between the 2-3-6 dome key and 1-4-5 dome key, with no terrain in the way, when the player in question has Brad. And no, he can't get past the card payment challenges with his roll.

Octavian wrote:
He's an unusual character, certainly. Almost always being able to squeak has its advantages. Give him a ranged weapon with high damage and he becomes a very effective sniper, particularly against stealthy opponents.

Do you "almost always" roll 7 or less?? 21/36 to hit, and 21/36 to damage, is only 34% to do anything with a ranged weapon. And then he only does DAM-1, which often means half damage since a typical weapon damage is 2. Any random character is better with a random weapon against a random opponent. Admittedly, he's going to be better at hitting the very hard to hit characters, who may have few HP, but they will know that and stay away from him. And you have to get him a ranged weapon, first (see below).

He's also good at collecting equipment by squeaking challenges, and will progress the marker for you on the Mercenary Camp and Ruins of Cany XII keys with his near auto-squeak rolls.

He's terrible at collecting equipment, because he only squeaks (typically perhaps half the payoff of success, and not infrequently nothing), and he only gets to try half as many challenges as a typical random character (because of his terrible movement). Plus any random opponent can block him from in a labyrinth (because he can't even enter their hex).

I only managed to get him a weapon because another of my characters used the Prowess Cube, and he got a lucky draw.

He's an unusual character, certainly. Almost always being able to squeak has its advantages. Give him a ranged weapon with high damage and he becomes a very effective sniper, particularly against stealthy opponents. He's also good at collecting equipment by squeaking challenges, and will progress the marker for you on the Mercenary Camp and Ruins of Cany XII keys with his near auto-squeak rolls.

-MMM

What good is Brad? He seems the worst character ever. Slow as molasses, unless an enemy conveniently comes near. Can't advance most markers, because he can never do better than squeak.

I managed to get him the 60mm mortar and he managed to kill someone far away, but that was rather a fluke.

Thread: three-player cutthroat question

In the three-player cutthroat rules, it states that the game ends if any single player is completely eliminated.

In a standard two-player (or two-sided) game, if a player is eliminated, then his opponent automatically wins.

In a cutthroat three-player game, if the game ends due to player elimination, who wins? Do you add up VPs for the other players? Is the player who was eliminated still eligible to win?

Kieron-

Sorry for the confusion. Version 6 is almost ready to be released and the Cyberboard thread is getting kind of long, so I can see where it would be hard to find. Version 4 (the one in your link) is good, but only contains the Ancient and Colonial platters and is missing some great updates coming in V6 (all cards and platters, including the 4 Beta characters from Fallen Skies). Let me know if you want to play a game sometime.

It's really smooth and makes for a very streamlined PBEM experience. Feel free to send me a game request (user name Red River Roy). Duel of Ages takes quite a few plays to get to the Sweet Spot, but once you get there, it's worth the time.

You would want both. Set #2 definitely adds a lot to the game as it brings in team bases for holding prisoners, injecting more fun equipment into the game and giving another venue for getting points.

Just make sure you can allot about 2.5-3 hours of sessions to play this game properly. I love this game a lot but my schedule has changed so much and I don't see it ever alleviating that I put my full set (minus Masters Addendum) up for trade/sell.

Happy gaming to you!

This isn't much of an expansion so much as a consolodation of the rules of ALL the expansions and some fixes to several of the cards.

I would definitely replace the original equipment cards from the 1st set with the revised cards. I don't think adding the extra characters would cause any difficulty either.

So play with it all

-MMM

I also like it! I also like Jim's idea that there should be an option to "refresh" if user doesn't like cards, although it shouldn't be too easy to do. Maybe one suggestion on the amaze for the "haggle", should be that a card is negoitiated for free. I know the result is similiar to stealing but because all characters are not equal it will work well I think. Other than that it looks quite balanced and interesting and would make a great addition, nice work! Please update with results...

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 6 vs Team 18

Update:
Team #6 vs Team #18 (Team #18 wins 4-2)
This was a close game that went back and forth a couple of times during the game and had more deaths than you would expect considering the participants. Ultimately it came down to Team #6 getting its chars dismissed/banished through a variety of ways in the final two turns to areas where they already had a lead and so they weren't able to get to a relevant challenge on the last turn while Team #18 won two tie-breaking challenges in its final turn to take the game. The characters getting kills were Aramis (Geronimo), Suva (Wilder, Autodeath 5), Catskill (Milena), Dakota (Thotus, AMAZE Damage roll), Melina (Aramis), Blaylock (Gillis), Roaringrock (Piccolo, Whip Vyper), Geronimo (Lia Vestri 1).

Team #6 MVP- Merissa of Ravena- 17 points
Honorable mention is Melina with 16 points and 1 kills but Merissa had the best game along with her henchman Smoke (who drew the Huntsman Cloak, yeah, not hitting him). They just got past lots of adventures without doing anything really spectacular. Solid game.

Team #18 MVP- Dakota- 15 pts, 1 Kill (Thotus)
The more I play with Dakota the more I like him for his versatility and adventuring skills. His kill was a result of rushing by Piccolo and him and Thotus missed. Piccolo didn't get a chance to fight Honorable mentions were Aramis (13 pts 1 Kill Died) and Catskill (12 pts 1 kill).

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 5 vs Team 17

Update:
Team #5 vs Team #17 (Team #5 wins 6-2)
Bladed Terror lives up to his name! BT has been having a pedestrian tournament but that all changed with 2 kills (plus 2 kills of Blatt) and general harassment of the opposing team. In the first 7 turns, BT had 2 kills, Mildred had 1 and there was no coming back. It is a mark of a mediocre team though that Team #5 was unable to crush the team and allowed them to make things interesting at the end with Gregory having the Pathfinder badge and Pat Garret with both Masers (dead BT, broken on Mildred). This game gave Team #5 their first win and finished the first division.

Team #5 MVP- Bladed Terror- 23 points, 2 kills, Died.
BT had a great game and killed Blatt 2 times other than what is counted (because he's only mostly dead). PASSed a few challenges but was able to devour his opposition.

Team #17 MVP- Pat Garret- 11 points, 1 Kill
This was the best this team had to offer. Deadwood count was 4 with those 3 early deaths (Napolean, Adigan, Annah) and poor rolling by Devon Regal.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 4 vs Team 16

Update:
Team #4 vs Team #16 (Team #16 wins 7-1)
This game was much closer than the score. While it's always difficult, in fact I don't think you ever should, to blame games on dice rolling, this one comes really close. The reason I say that is not due to the Adventure rolls but the dismissal rolls. It just felt that Team #4 could not get anywhere they needed to and do anything once they got there. They had a difficulty getting over to a side of the board because they weren't getting the dismissal rolls. They killed 3 but 2 of those were simultaneous kills, which hurt as well. That does nothing to diminish Team #16's great game and their ability to get things done and be in the right place.

Team #4 MVP- Enrak the Fury- 10 points, 1 Kill, Died.
Enrak was the subject of a very funny part of the game when he charged Philip Redlegs with the Lance on the Swayback Nag...and hit and killed Redlegs (who unfortunately had a hidden Halberd and dispatched Enrak). Early death (Turn 11) but indicitive of this game that no one passed Enrak in points for the rest of the game.

Team #16 MVP- Ryan- 23 points.
Ryan PASSed many challenges and got many cards and put them to good use. He was all over the place and had an abolutely great game

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 3 vs Team 15

Update:
Team #3 vs Team #15 (Team #15 wins 4-3)
This game was the most boring, grind-it-out, least fun of any game of DOA that I've played in a long time. The biggest problem was that it was entirely on purpose as well. Basically the map was like a radioactive symbol (see Joshua Jordan) with the bottom platter being The Alamo and the upper left one being Spaceport (random platter), upper right The Glade, and middle being Par 4 (random with the mesa abutting the Alamo platter). Also, Team #15 was able to place Labrynths and other non-dome keys to fill up the Glade and so all of the Dome Keys were attached to the Alamo and Spaceport...the far side of the Alamo and Spaceport to be exact. Anyways, Sandman was in his element and no one else was. No one could move very well and things went very slow and was close because the map wouldn't let anyone run away with anything. This caused some huge surprises, including the winning team and the MVPs (slow map meant that Melee chars got points). Oh well, there are games like this every once in a while, huh? Basically Team #15 had to slow down the other team to win because they are such a slow team. One rules question- if El Cid is killed but the game ends before he is totally dead, does he count on the body count? This doesn't change anything, just wondering.

Team #3 MVP- Ironhead McCray- 14 points, 1 Kill. Ironhead kept hitting people and doing damage and maybe PASSed 2 adventures. His kill really helped his team because it was Sandman that was on the receiving end of that KO punch.

Team #15 MVP- Mandibled Plasmoid- 15 points, 1 Kill. Yeah, this one surprised me too. PASSed maybe two adventures, if that. Killed Agent 911 and damaged many, many people. Basically he just stayed in the Spaceport and took cheap shots at everyone. He ended the game at 2 Health.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 2 vs Team 14

Battle for the championship of Group 2
Team #2 vs Team #14 (Team #2 wins 7-1)
This game was a blowout and I blame GRASP and poor rolling in the beginning of the game for it. What happened was that in an attempt to protect GRASP there was a huge melee thing between Turn #7 and #11 where Ronin FAILed 3 straight damage rolls (the previously mentioned poor rolling) against Little Shaun (hurt by pet as well), Sanchez, and Boris. This was a problem because Ronin had Excalibur (3 Damage per FAIL, no loss of weapon). As a result of this, Ronin ended up dead after killing Scarlet Fox (and scoring 15 points ) as did all of the above charcters who were brutalized by weaker characters SQUEAKing Damage and/or Hit roll to do the requisite 1 or 2 damage to kill them (Chars with Melee kills besides Ronin: Ulf, Hickok, Zygoid). Ulf was held to 2 or 3 from the beginning...didn't matter much. Zygoid scored 10 points to get out of the basement. GRASP got 1 card and was a real liability to its team because of the need to protect it until it ran into its HQ. After the huge melee and escape of GRASP Team #2 had 7 chars and Team #14 had 4...with one being GRASP and the other being Erik Merit, who could only do the 4 Labs (can you say blocker?). Not enough people and not enough weapons. Excalibur was never lost but grabbed by Team #14, who had no other Honorable people left. What was supposed to be a great, close game was just a one-sided blowout and there wasn't much that Team #14 could do (Velociraptor against Ulf, Ulf hits twice on Opfires with the Magnum).

Team #2 MVP- Ulf, who else - 22 points, 1 kill. This team had a really well rounded game with 3 stars (Ulf, Ronin, Hickok) and no deadwood. Ulf had trouble with AMAZEing (1 time all game) and dying (3 Ulf deaths) but not with PASSing adventures. Lots of Wits challenged and she AMAZEs on a Hit roll.

Team #14 co-MVP- Marcus Aurus- 10 points, Sgt. Gritt- 10 points. Erik had 9 points and these three were the only ones alive and doing anything by the end of the game. Marcus scored the go-ahead challenge in the LA to score the only point they got for the game.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 1 vs Team 13

Team #1 vs Team #13 (Team 13 won 5-4)
Nothing really remarkable happened in this game. It seemed Team #13 was running away with it and we were surprised when the score came out and it was so close. Big Herr showed what he can do when not banished and killed early (both the Colonial and Lith Srategica were in difficult to access places) and Frostdancer was unhittable, which explains her score Over all a pretty lackluster perforance from Team 1 who had half of their chracters as deadwood. Paradox was a huge help and was used very well. It helped that he got the Ames Scooter as equipment.

Team #1 MVP- Tanika- 15 points, 1 kill.
Tanika rolled 2 Green and 1 Yellow stat and did pretty well with adventuring (and nailing Kiri with the Sniper Rifle with Yellow Aim).

Team #13 MVP- Frostdancer- 26 points, 3 kills
She could not be touched this game (first card draw was Camoflage) and did lots of damage accounting for Lyrra Swan, Fanged Tracnids, and Sterling Jack while still adventuring well. The Tracnid kill was a Paradox-assisted ranged kill. Cool, huh?

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 12 vs Team 20

Team #12 v Team #20 (Team #20 wins 5-2)
This game was interesting because the score flipped in the last three turns and Team #12 just couldn't catch back up after overcoming an early deficit once they lost momentum. Some interesting things that happened in this game though. First of all, Team #12 was the first one who finished one of the labrynths- Modern. That happened mostly due to the use of it as a refuge to run into when being chased and not a deliberate strategy. Also, there was only 1 character who qualified as deadwood- the Baron, who died on turn 5. His henchman was Xecttyl, who didn't really help. Anyways, other than that, every character got more than 4 points, which was amazing.

Team #12 MVP- Dunabi- 16 points
He was able to get his points through adventuring and keeping his team in most of the labs up until the last few turns.

Team #20 co-MVPs- Cayriss- 16 points, Grok- 16 points, 2 kills
Cayriss was helped a lot by getting the Plate Mail on his first card draw which allowed him to stay alive long enough to do something and damage a lot of characters. Unfortunately his travelling partner Grok finished some of those off for him. Grok did well with kills and adventures.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 11 vs Team 19

Update:
Team #11 vs Team #19 (Team #19 wins 6-3...and it wasn't that close)
This was the big showdown between two of the last three unbeaten teams. It wasn't nearly as close as the score indicates and it wasn't close early. I haven't seen a momentum swing like this game in a long time. At first Team #11 jumped ahead with Genghis Kahn and Pyraxian getting good equipment. Then turn #7 happened. On one turn both Genghis Kahn (Santiago) and Pyraxian (Leapgrip) were killed and Joshua Jordan AMAZEd a challenge (received Gadabout). That's the type of turn-around that you just don't recover from. From that point on Team #19 just started to squeeze and slowly over the rest of the game progressively killed most of the team and took over one labrynth at a time. It is a tribute to Team #11 that they were able to stay ahead in 3 of them. But given two or three more turns, they would only have been ahead in the Cany XII and probably only have Sam left

Team #11 MVP- Dr. Memnar- 12 points. Did well with adventuring and was doing well fighting until he met up with Joshua Jordan and spent the rest of the game running from adventure to adventure trying not to die (1 health at the end).

Team #19 MVP- Rider-of-Comets- 19 points, 1 Kill. He edged out Jordan by 1 point and was the final PASS in the Future Lab that won that point. Both him and Jordan had mounts and went everywhere. His kill was Njeri with Excalibur, Jordan's was Leo Penny with a natural wallop. The other kill was Davy Crockett on Annie Oakley.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 8 vs Team 10

League Report
Team #10 vs Team #18 (Team 10 wins 3-2)
This was a tight (3 adventures + body count tied) adventure-heavy (Ancient Lab and Lith Alliance both were two away from completed, AL was won by 1 position and LA was tied at 'Support']). The game was decided on the last half turn when Lia Vestri OpFired and killed Avindel as he left a dome, as she had positioned herself to do. That tied the game but Damon Raven SQUEAKed the React challenge in the RT to untie it and win the game. Only 1 char was killed per team and those were killed within the last 3 rounds (Piccolo was the other one that died).

Team 10 MVP- York- 17 points. York went the whole time without getting a rifle. Ok, the entire team never got a rifle but York did well with melee and adventuring even without a gun.

Team 18 MVP- Dakota- 15 points. Dakota's status as MVP was assured when his first card drawn was the Appoloosa which gave him 9 speed. He only FAILed 2 adventures the whole game while AMAZEing 2 and PASSing the rest.

Btw, Aramis was in deperate danger of being taken over by Sunglow but an AMAZE on one of the Black adventures allowed them to dismiss a sure takeover the next turn.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 9 vs Team 17

League Update
Team 9 vs Team 17 (Team 9 wins 6-3)
This was Bizarro Game. Rambo, thy name is Blatt! I really don't know how to describe this game. The following chars were killed in the first 7 turns: Napolean, Annah Mischkiv, Pat Garrett, Mogred Ghan, Perry Owens. All had either 0 points or had only PASSed 1 adventure. Blatt had 2 of those kills, Bodkin had 1. This map was 4-platter in a baseball diamond pattern. Third base was The Wastes with the swamp/mesa side covering the connecting side, 2 Labs blocking those outs with open sides elsewhere, Lith Alliance, Modern Lab, and 2 keys. Jade and Homer got dismissed to this platter at the beginning and killed the above Team 17 people and Blatt shot Owens and AMAZed a damage roll against a damaged Ghan. However Team 9 got ahead in every single adventure (except Cany XII, see point skills) and than decided to just kill the other team because they were winning in a blowout. Basically, Team 17 was out of this game from the beginning. Adigan took out the HQ, they got ahead in the Ancient Lab (on Yazoo, no Jade) and than Hercules was drawn which game them a point and than Cany XII. Other than that it was all Team #9 from the beginning. None of the adventures were advanced very much because it really wasn't necessary with all the fighting going on.

Team 9 MVP- Homer Morgan- 15 points, 1 kill; Jade- 14 points, 1 kill. Both of these ruled the Wastes platter and did a little adventuring but mostly trashed the other team.

Team 17 MVP- Wallard Blatt - 15 points, 2 kills; Gregory - 14 points. What the heck was going on? How did these guys get so many points? Well, Pat Garrett died really early thanks to Jade and Homer, as did Annah Mischkiv and Napolean. Gregory was the only char who could challenge the Lith Alliance and he healed his allies for points as well (Homer too, but that wasn't supposed to happen). Devon Regal did really well also. It was a really wierd game.
Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 8 vs Team 16

League Update:
Team #8 vs Team #16 (Score 5-3, Team #16 wins)
Awesome game! There is one less unbeaten team and the top seed is now over to Team #9. This game was the most competitive that we've plaed yet with tons of agonizing choices in the final rounds and nearly missed rolls. Both teams could have won but Team #8 couldn't quite pull off the comeback thanks to great play by Team #16. Team #16 was down to 4 chars by the end, 2 with 1 Health left and 1 with 2 Health left (Sven was the only one not hurt). This game was won with a great Blowgun shot by Mick to kill Syriach and keep him from tying the Modern Lab. and a great final turn blocking action by Flicker to keep Misty Corona from an attempted lead in the Merc Camp. But this game was won by a gutsy killing of the HQ by a henchman (Ardin Glynn)the turn before Darija was savaged by Syriach. Ryan hurt and held up Syriach enough in a self-sacrificing move that allowed Mick to get there the turn after Ryan died and allowing Syriach to be shot.

Team #16 ran up a large lead at the beginning because due to key placements and AMAZE results it took until turn 6 for Team #8 to challenge a single adventure and two turns later for them to PASS one. But there was a great comeback that fell just short. The Future Lab. was almost finished by both teams and all adventures were PASSed at least once by both teams.

Team #8 MVP- Syriach- 20 points, 3 Kills, Died. This MVP comes with a qualifier that Misty Corona had a great game and almost achieved the impossible comeback after getting Pegasus with four turns left and made two (almost 3) challenges in the final turns. Syriach was a beast killing Darija, who had great henchmen in Glynn and Ace, Siennya, and Ryan and PASSing a few adventures. He had equipment and speed and ran everyone down falling just short of getting his team the win.

Team #16 Co-MVP- Mick the Lion- 20 points, 2 kills and Ryan- 17 points, Died. Mick gets props for getting the only two kills for his team- Syriach and Dirk (with two consecutive Uzi shots). He did well and did everything needed. However Ryan was amazing. He was responsible for getting early leads in four adventures and the final stand against Syriach that allowed his team to maintain a lead in the Modern Lab was great. He was helped by the Brute's Badge but was all over the adventures.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 7 vs Team 15

Team #7 vs Team #15 (Score 4-2, Team #7 wins)
This game was looked forward to because of the interest in the Sandman vs Three-U matchup. It ended up not being as big of a deal because Sandman kept rolling too high to get banished and Three-U kept PASSing the Sandman Damage roll and getting damaged. Running away from Sandman, Three-U was hit and killed by an AMAZEing Melee roll by Boolean. While that matchup was won by Sandman and Ned Kelly wore out the Flamethrower and the Buffalo Gun on others, Team #7 was too far ahead and Team #15 was too slow to catch up well. This was decided in the last turn by Team #15 missing 2/3 rolls and Team #7 making 1/2 rolls. It was a great case study for how team speed overcomes superior skills.
Team #15 MVP- Ned Kelly- 17 points, 2 Kills (Diaz, Hans)- Got deadly cards and used them well. At one time he had the Buffalo Gun, Plasma Sword, Velociraptor, and Flamethrower. After killing Hans with the Flamethrower, he picked up the ATV. No wonder he did so well.
Team #7 MVP- Iron Pole- 13 points, 1 Kill (Kassina)- Gunned down Kassina with the Uzi. PASSed many key adventures and did well in the towers

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 6 vs Team 11

League Session Report
Team #6 vs Team #14 (Score 4-2 Team #14 wins, both teams ended with 5 chars)
This was the best game that we've played from a strategy standpoint because it introduced a wrinkle that we'd never considered- Thotus vs GRASP. Both are vulnerable but if Thotus can get to GRASP, the tables can be turned. The first half of this game was maneuvering Thotus and GRASP such that Thotus could get GRASP or GRASP's team could get a shot at Thotus. Crazy things happened. Sanchez SQUEAKed a Damage roll vs Thotus with a rifle and was killed the next turn, Scarlet Fox was turned and kiled an ex-teammate and eventually Thotus was killed by an assault by Marcus and GRASP, thus freeing Scarlet Fox. GRASP died a few turns later. But that dance of death between GRASP and Thotus is one that I would encourage people to try, or at least look out for.
Team #6 MVP- Seveneyes- 14 points. First card she got was the Brute's Badge which allowed her to PASS some Strength challenges and survived multiple attempts on her life.
Team #14 MVP- Marcus Aurus- 16 points, 2 Kills (Blaylock, Thotus)- He got most of his points from his Blowgun. Mopped up with both of his kills and won the final point on two labrynths.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 5 vs Team 13

Team #5 vs Team #13- Score: 7-3 Team 13 wins
This was a great game and was much closer than it appears through the final score because Team #13 pulled out 4 points in the final 2 turns. Paradox was used with great success. He scored 15 points severely damaging many chars, not teh least of which was BT, who ran like crazy. The first half of the game had Paradox and others cornering BT on a platter with only one Stealth challenge and he was herded away from it and finally escaped. Kiri killed Thump with a well placed shot from the Terra Gun with help from Paradox which allowed her to use it and shoot with a Yellow Aim. Team #13 lost Yori while Team #5 lost Sheridan, Thump, and Bladed Terror.

Winning Team MVP- Amanda Pierce- 20 points (2 Kills). While Paradox belongs here as the most valuable char for this game but Amanda scored many great points and finished off both BT and Sheridan after they had been damaged. Paradox PASSed many adventures as well.
Losing Team MVP- Mildred Stonegutter (sort of)- 23 pts. This is a case of the scoring system skewing away from what happened. Mildred found the Weewaks and whacked on them for a while, which accounts for 14 of her points. She did have a good game though. Erin Shrike did well at the end while Thump had a good beginning before he walked into an unexpected shot.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.

Thread: Duel of Ages League- Team 4 vs Team 12

Team #4 vs Team #12- Score: 6-1 Team #4 wins
Highly anticipated, horribly boring game. With all those melee people you'd think someone would have died. I have never seen more 9s, 10s, 11s, and 12s rolled or more weapons broken. Reaver had 4 shots (ranged or melee) at Jolie and missed them all, TIAX had 2.
Winning Team MVP- Beowulf- 12 points. Even with getting Pegasus halfway through the game he couldn't manage to HIT anyone, much less kill them
Losing Team MVP- Dunabi- 16 pts. The only point that this team got was because of him and he didn't even do much, he just had an average game and ended up with the most points.

For information on the Duel of Ages league that I am doing and the scoring system and the members of the teams, please check out the forum at the Duel of Ages website www.duelofages.com and the thread named “Duel Of Ages League (Part 1 of 4)- Introduction and Scoring”.
