I tried really hard to make those shapes look like a house. I rearranged them one way, then the other, then every way I could think of. Then I gave up. I turned the card over, and the solution was on the back.

(I submitted this as a session report but it was rejected. I'm not sure why...)

Tangrams is a traditional puzzle with very high replay value. All tangrams must use all seven pieces, and all pieces have to be touching.

Beyond these basics, it's a combination Rorschach test (what to you see in this picture?) and visualization practice (how can you decompose this picture into these 7 shapes). Some shapes are hard, some easy, and practice definitely helps.

There are literally thousands of tangram puzzles in dozens of collections from many sources, or you can just play with the pieces and see what interesting shapes arise.
