Don't know where this idea came from but I don't think it's been visited before. Lots of lists about block games, but this one is going to focus on games where blocking your opponent(s) can be a key tactic. Please feel free to add.

The first time I played this game, I wasn't focusing on messing with my opponents, I wanted to fit my pieces. My husband on the other hand royaly screwed me several times and before I knew it, I was pretty much blocked.

I didn't think there would be much actual blocking in this, but sure enough, my husband blocked me from hiding myself. Did that make sense?

Blocking routes is more likely to happen with a larger number of players.

Area enclosure games in general I think lead to blocking and messing with opponent's plans.

This is a very light game and more suitable for kids, but involves a lot of blocking. Uses marker and wipe off board.

Trying to keep a forest fire under control, most of the blocking here is against the game itself vs. an opponent. This is played cooperatively and can be played solo.

Usually play this 3 player with my husband and son. You guessed it, my husband fudges with me again. And he does it on purpose! The nerve.

Yup. Light kids and family game, loved and hated by many. If you can't use the tile to help yourself, use it to block someone elses path.

I couldn't resist the football (US) reference but blocking does play a role in the game so I guess it's still OK.

We used to play this a whole lot back in 6th form during free periods (for all non british people thats college) and invariably the very 1st build move would be for someone to completely encircle london in track, its possible that this is a standard tactic in train games (i wouldnt really know i only ever played 3 different ones) but it eventually became so prolific that it became bad form to try anything like that and anyone doing it got bemoaned at excessivly till they relented and erased and rethought the move.

Shake a leg and shoot to thrill with Hive. Hive is all about the block, and the trap, and the pin, and the hop, and the escape.
I made my own Hive set and decided to bring one opponent's tiles "back in black".

In this game you want to score for yourself but block your opponents out. But not this turn, first you want to get in one more higher score, then block it. Oh wait, one more even higher score, oh shoot, someone else blocked it.

This one seems so simple and yet.... There's nothing quite as exhilerating as running a board or quite as gut wrenching as watching your opponent do the same.
