"Now, Ticket to Ride is the apex of board gaming complexity. You want to hook your non-gamers in with ASL, or Civilisation first, before working through War!Age of Imperialism (Although as that is the current no.3, some would say you should stop there) and maybe Magic the Gathering, building up further with Candyland or, if you don't like the Inuit theme, War. Then they might be ready for Ticket to Ride. Just don't mistake it for 'another dirigible game'. This one has depth."

I can't believe that some people continue to call this a dirigible game. Any game that does not include wind currents and management of hydrogen resources has no business being mentioned on the same web page as Age of Prop or Blimp Tycoon.

IMHO.

Just picked up Hasbro's Star Wars edition of Tigris and Euphrates! Lots of fun.

I mean... it's cool, TaE and Star Wars, if you like those sorts of things. Of course, it's based on the sequel trilogy (VII, VII, and IX). The Spectre of Sidious card might be a little unbalanced; but the Solo Twins and Wookie Revenge counters are pretty sweet.

Can't wait for the SAGA edition next spring.

(I wonder if Lucas will ever get around to making the first three episodes?)

I think it was a mistake to use the 'least points in colour you have the most points in' scoring system. It creates too much focus on Red points. I don't know, some other system seems to be possible, any ideas?

But frankly it is too dry and abstract for my tastes- I prefer the all time Chinese family game, which hasn't aged a bit since it first came out 10 years ago- Go."

Friggin' Trix boxes my ass.

Yeah, you get the Trix box.

Then you have to have the Count Chocula box..

Then you have to have the Rice Krispies box..

Then you have to have the goddamn out of print Ralston Oatmeal Cookie Crisp box...

Then you have to have the Baron von Redberry box...

Then....

I agree - who could possibly encompass the depth of WW2 tactics in only one page of rules?

It should have been more like that Steve Jackson classic "10,000 Page Bulge". Now THAT'S a WW2 game, and full worth the small fortune it cost.

Not to mention how good this game gets after you purchase the Robot and Lizardmen expansion!

The robots can do the work of the colonists twice as fast, which lets you feed them to the Lizardmen, whom you have to fend off the tourists!

Only works if you have enough Quarrys though.....

A fine family game if I ever saw one, suitable for playing with siblings and having nothing but fun (kind of like "Sorry!", the game where you apologize sincerely for inconveniencing the other players).

So long as it remains available only by internet order, Heroscape will continue to be a niche product, unheard-of by the massed ranks of gamers who troop to Toys R Us in their thousands every week to buy the latest ASL releases.

Expansions are exactly what would salvage this very stale, one dimensional game actually. I mean, how about a RIVER or a dragon dude! Very dissapointed to find out the game doesn't even include a board to lay the tiles on. I paid way too much for this, even with the 78% discount at Think Cleaver.

A friend of mine told me about the expansion "3D-Holo-Carcassonne" that will have a feature that will block mental powers, so nobody will be able to "guess" the next tile...

One of my favorite features of BBG is how it automatically corrects all typos.
