A personal list of boardgames that I own and enjoy playing with friends or in most cases Alison

Fantastic two player wargame. Light enough that it's accessible to Al yet it has enough strategic depth to prevent it from being a dice rolling fest. The great components from the army men to the tiles and board really set the mood.

The first board game that Alison and I really got into together. She loves jigsaw puzzles so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

It didn't take long for us to pick up the expansions

Picked this up at the same time

I thought this would provide a little more tactical play than the original but in the end we never played it that much.

Snatched yet another expansion on a whim. Don't think we've really experienced this expansion fully as we've only included it in a 2 player game.

I think this was the first expansion that really reawakened our interest with the game. Gotta love chomping up meeples with that dragon.

Given to us by a friend. By far the prettiest version of the game we have with all those wooden bits.

Read the first two books and really enjoyed them so I thought I would pick up the boardgame given how much everyone raved about it. I appreciate the theme and the fact that this is a diceless wargame but the long playing time and a minimum of three players required means that I don't get to bring this out as often as I would like. Would rather play this than Risk if I could find the right game group.

I don't normally like Risk due to the strong luck factor but the theme and variation of this version got the better of my wallet. A fairly good game which doesn't get much play time anymore as I have more to choose from in the game cupboard now.

This was the first game that I bought after getting addicted to BoardGameGeek. Fantastic game that I recommend to anyone that asks me tp suggest a meatier boardgame to try. Shame that we don't play it much anymore as we don't have a third player handy.

Thought I would try San Juan after we stopped playing Puerto Rico as this supported two players. Unfortunately we never really got into it and gave up after just two games. Might try it again one day though.

Hehe, great fun game for friends that don't like TOO much thinking and love to roll dice. Still looking around for the expansion with the Sepang track.

Another great light game to fill the time. The trading aspect of the game is good fun and at least promotes conversation rather than some of the brain burners in my collection. Crack up everytime I see a Stink Bean.

Bought this to bring to a party with six people when I didn't have any boardgames that could accomodate that number. In the end we didn't get around to playing Citadels but I've been able to take it out of the cupboard a few times since. I think the art and the butterscotch tokens are worth the price alone anyway.

Bit of an impulse buy that I picked up because I heard it was good and found it for cheap. Had a few good games but don't really feel like playing it much anymore. Alison likes it because the money reminds her of Monopoly.

I heard Age of Mythology described as Puerto Rico but with combat. How could I go wrong?
I really tried to like this game as the boards and figures are really quite nice. Unfortunately I've yet to have an enjoyable session with it and the dice rolling and combat just doesn't feel right and causes too much downtime for non-combatants.

I've had some history with CCGs and have spent FAR too much money on them in the past. The last CCG I collected was MagiNation and I promised I would never touch another foil once I quit that. For the same reason I suppose I'd been avoiding Blue Moon for ages even though I liked the idea of a set game with CCG-ish elements.
Finally caved when I saw the base set and two expansions in the local game store. Really like the art and story (oh flavour text, how you tempt me). It's nice that the basic rules are simple enough for Alison and yet there is potential for deck building and card combos. Looking to complete the whole collection now. Damn my addictive personality.

First Blue Moon expansion that I bought. The gang theme really appeals to me. Nice card combinations.

Another deck theme that I like. Hit and run with lots of booster cards to pump up power.

If there's one game in my whole collection that I wish I could play more then this would be it. I think it's a beautiful balance between mechanics and theme and is the first thing that comes to mind when I think of an ideal modern boardgame. Unfortunately Alison finds it a little too analytical for her tastes so most of my games have been on the computer.
