Games from the Garage

After my dad passed away, we had to go through our old garage and clean everything out to move. I nabbed all the old board games I could find, and here's what I found. Most of them will probably go onto Ebay, but I definitely found a few gems. There were a few that weren't in the 'Geek database, so I've left them off, but may add them later if I add the games.

Sounds like a good theme, but I have the feeling it's not a very good game.

No idea why he had this one. Must have been a crappy gift he couldn't bear to throw out.

Napolean is totally going to get a cannonball to the head. That's out real Coup D'Etat's work.

From the description here it sounds like my kind of game, but I don't know if this copy is in playable condition.

I like how it's by the "Maufacturers of Monopoly." Like it's important who ponied (ha ha) up the money, not who designed the game.

Evidence of my dad's early involvement in environmental causes. I'm guessing the game isn't very exciting either- people may complain about the themes of some modern Euros, but I'd rather play a game based on power distribution than a game about Smog.

I'll probably hang on to this one. It sounds like it has some neat mechanisms to it, if I can get through the overly large rulebook.

Original edition, my dad has signed it in the corner. Reminds me of when he was talking about hanging out with Gary Gygax at a convention and so I said "You know Gary Gygax? Why didn't you ever tell me?" to which he responded "You never asked!" I imagine it would have been the same if I had asked him why he never told me he played Acquire, one of my favorite games of all time.

The only one of these games that I knew he played was Diplomacy, which he ran a very long running PBM game of. The games we played together when I was younger were more traditional parlor games like Chess and Cribbage whereas I played less abstract stuff like Monopoly and Careers with my mother.
At his funeral, one of his friends told me a good story about the competetive nature that runs in my family: he used to play Bridge with my dad, my grandfather, and my grandmother. If my dad or grandfather would say anything, my grandmother would yell at them to cut out the tabletalk. Meanwhile, she was kicking her partner under the table to signal a good hand.

My condolences. Your father was a wonderful storyteller.
