Confessions of a wayward gamegeek
-
I have fallen short of True Gamerhood in so many ways.
(Feel free to add your own confessions.)
-

-
Puerto Rico is not my #1 game.
Walking by my game shelf I can feel the indignant eyes of the Puerto Rico guy, following me.

Board Game: Palazzo
[Average Rating:6.60 Overall Rank:751]

-
Reiner Knizia is not my top game designer. In unguarded moments I blurt out, Tourette's-like, "Some of his games are a little dry!" and cover my face in shame and retreat into the shadows.
-
-

-
I believe that, as in Darth Vader, there is still some good in Hasbro.

Board Game: Caylus
[Average Rating:7.97 Overall Rank:11]

-
The first time I played Caylus, I learned that after claiming a property you put a little house on it. My first thought was, "Hey, just like in Monop--." No. I'm too ashamed to repeat it.
-
-

-
I have rejected good games solely due to theme or artwork.
I am not OK.
-
-

-
I still don't own half of the top-rated games. And I haven't even *played* two of them.
-
-

-
When I see a box of specially-themed Monopoly I sometimes think, "Hey, that might be interesting."
What's wrong with me?

Board Game: Go
[Average Rating:7.77 Overall Rank:41]

-
Before I was converted to gamer-ness, I played a simple 9 x 9 game of Go and (I shudder to recall) complained, "You have to think too much in this game."
Where did my parents go wrong?

Board Game: Fluxx
[Average Rating:5.72 Overall Rank:4321]

-
I enjoy the protean rules in Fluxx.
Help me.

-
In a former life I played *more than one* collectible card game. I bought *boxes* of cards. Once I even paid $40 for just four MtG Masticore cards on ebay.
I know the stigma will be upon my progeny forever.
-
-

-
I look at friends and wonder if they could become gamers. "I should invite them over for Ticket to Ride."
Shyness wins. I never call.
-
-

-
Settlers is getting old. How do I get the magic back? Is this going to happen with Goa and Power Grid too? I HAVE TO KNOW!
-
-

-
Last Christmas I bought Hi Ho! Cherry-O *and* Sesame Street Chutes and Ladders for my two year old daughter.
What was I thinking?
-
-

-
Deep in my heart, I know Lost Cities *is* a wife game.
I am politically incorrect.
-
-

-
Once I played a game that included rolling dice. I didn't inhale and never tried it again.
-
-

-
I played in a game of Fearsome Floors where we disassembled a cool-looking monster in favour of a bland monster who stood up better.
Don't judge me.
-
-

-
Unfortunatley, I have to confess that I spend more time reading about games and imagining how fun they are than actually playing them.
-

Free Shipping for orders over $100....$0
Another expansion for a game that I rarely play....$25 Settlers Anniversary Chest Set....$300 UPS guy leaves the package on the front porch without the wife seeing it....
Priceless....
Yes....it's a disease...I have issues.

I think people who play Warhammer have FAR too much time on their hands. Does that make me a bad person, or do I just have a life?
