I really enjoy Mark Johnson's Podcast Boardgames to Go http://www.boardgamestogo.com and have been listening to it religiously since about July of last year. As a matter of fact, I credit his podcast (and a couple of others) with the transformation of me from casual gamer of a few games with my wife and college friends every once in a while into bonafide game geek. As a matter of fact, although I joined BGG in January of 2004, for most of that time I logged in and looked at data perhaps maybe once a month. Now I couldn't imagine more than a week going by without visiting for one reason or another. But I digress...

My favorite (and I'll bet many others as well) of his podcasts are of course the "All About XXXXXXX" shows. These are in depth looks at the rules, production, and strategies of one game. And have at least in fact motivated me to purchase one game I otherwise would not have (Entdecker) and it is a pretty fun game. But I don't think I'd put it as high up as Mark Johnson.

I don't want to step on Mark Johnson's Toes, and if he ever does geeklists about his podcasts I would be happy to delete mine. But since those don't seem to exist yet. I've decided that I'm going to at least highlight "All About" shows so that I and others can find them easily from his archives.

Perhaps this can also convince him that there are at least some of us that love these shows and can convince him to do more.

Mike Mayer and Robo Rally

Show Notes: At the suggestion of BGTG Creator Mark Johnson, here is also the Roborally show. An early experiment which predated the actual "All About" show format but is very similar.

I bought Verrater based on his "All About" show. I'd really like to see this redone in English with a "War of the Roses" theme.

Show Notes: Bonus E&T Card Game discussion included. This one is my favorite. (Possibly because I've always considered this to be my favorite game. But after finally playing Die Macher, I believe this is probably in for being dethroned soon. )

Hey, thanks for putting this geeklist together, Christopher. Yeah, everyone agrees that the All About shows are the strongest ones--including me. I really do want to do more of them, it's only a little matter of scheduling and preparation. Some titles I've already planned to do with a recording partner sometime include Vinci, Reef Encounter, Ra, and La Citta. I've had other recommendations for Power Grid and Princes of Florence, but I'd need to play those a lot more first (esp. PG).

Hey, though it predates my All About show format, take a look at the show I did with Mike Mayer about Robo Rally. It's very much like an All About show in style and content.

Thanks for listening!

P.S. If anyone else wants to start BGTG geeklists, be my guest. PM me first if you want to get my take on it, but I'm sure I'll agree.
looking forward to reef encounter show
