when searching for new games i want to purchase the first thing i do after reading a review about it is looking for a rulebook on the web. offical one isn't needed but one that will explain me how the game works. i decided to make a geeklist about it to hopefully help other people that are seeking rulebooks of games on the web.

Fantasy Flight Games has a great idea in that they post the rules to virtually every board game that they have. They even publish the rules for games that are still on the horizon, Warrior Knights a case in point. I wish more did that, especially Eagle Games. I would have saved my coin and War! Age of Imperialism wouldn't be a dust collector on my shelf. I read the rules and then never even punched the game out.yuk

Seems as though I was wrong about FFG being unique. I guess I should read the whole list next time.shake

Seems common practice for GMT to post their rulebooks. I just got Here I Stand in the mail yesterday, but I've had the rulebook for weeks.

Do you try to create the largest geeklist ever?
There are *many* rulebooks on the web. And since you allow 'explanations' too, the number is much higher again.

I could start with adding the 16 rule books of alea games that can be found at http://www.aleaspiele.de/Pages/Instructions/

BTW do you know that there are many rulebooks on the web that aren't in english?

Nate, I found this very useful, thanks.

Don't understand why so many people feel a need to weigh in with negative criticism.

Why aren't the designers/publishers worried about people "stealing" their games?

I am continually bemused by some of the posts I find on BGG. What is your problem sausage?

1. so what if he IS trying to make the biggest geeklist ever, that is his perogative, more power to him
2. good that you added another link, why didn't you add it nicely as an item and contribute to the list
3. Do you know there are many many other languages besides english and , shock horror, German. I am sure the OP would have loved you to CONTRIBUTE by adding links to german versions of rules if you wanted.

probably because they realise that for most people it is not worth the time and effort to recreate all the other bits, and that part of "the game" is having all the nice boards and other items. And probably, realising that most people who want these things are FANS of the games, and by GIVING a little, they gain a lot of positive feelings in return, which leads to further sales (because we are the people buying their next game as well).
