This is the traditional weekly thrift and bargain finds list.
These lists may start empty, but as always, add your items.
Put in what you consider a bargain, tell us how much you paid and the place you got it from. Bargains can be thrift store finds or any second-hand purchases or discounted boardgames bought new. Don't forget to add your encounters with the Thrift Store Irritant Squad and any other embellishments in order to make it even more interesting.

Our GeekGuild: Welcome to The Ancient and Loyal Order of Thrifters. Enter the halls of thriftdom at your own risk. Please do mind the stacks of prized games, do not mention the musty smell and try not to sneeze. Make sure to bow before our King Hakfoo I, and pay your due respects to previous Kings Belial, Great_Mazinga, minionhunter, Krazygit, EvilTimmy and Blackwind.

I have come across this and the Deluxe edition several times but they are either priced high or are incomplete, so on the shelf they stayed.
This one is complete except for the score sheets (well, there are 5 used ones in the box) and for $0.90 I got: 5 speckled dice, a dice tray, a dice cup, 2 unsharpened Yatzee pencils and 11 plastic chips, at the Village Discount Outlet.
$3 from an estate sale. Not inventoried yet, but there are lots of blocks and I can see the instructions in there. Hoping the beans are on the bottom. (I've got a parts copy if not.) Box in excellent condition.
This was the cool find. This is a Hungarian Monopoly knock-off. The BGG page for this says it was first made in the 30s or 40s. My copy has a 1986 date on the rules. The rules and components are in Hungarian only.
It has some differences from Monopoly. Three utilites instead of two (third one is the telephone). Some property groups wrap around a corner. Only one deck of Event Cards, instead of separate Chance and Community Chest cards.
The hotels and houses are wooden, and the pawns are colored wooden discs. It seems to be 100% complete and in excellent condition.
The entry here on BGG doesn't have a picture of the box. I'll add that, and maybe a couple more pics.
Missed this one from yesterday - picked it up at Value Village for $2.00 It's made by Tigo Enterprises in Canada. Designed by a company that leads wilderness adventures in Canada's Alqonquin Park - here's the description:
Suede Chess and Checkers Set Specifically designed for the outdoors, this game will make a great gift for the outdoor enthusiast. The set includes a handcrafted game board, complete playing instructions, miniature plastic game pieces and a suede pouch. All are contained within a transparent gift box. SIZE(pouch) 4" x 4" x 1" SIZE(board) 7" x 7"
Transparent gift box? Oh, plastic!
Mine happens to be in a pink suede pouch and the box is still tied shut.
I found a site that sells them online - for $33.95 each. Sheesh.
$.99 Goodwill. Somehow just the two packs of sealed cards, loose on the shelf. I can only imagine someone dumped them to stick something else in the box and steal it. Nice. All I need now are the instructions and a die, so it seemed worth it for $0.99.
UPDATE: This is actually the older edition, which is fine with me, I like the cards better.
$0.99 GW. I liked the idea of the "flip it over and rub it all over your hand to roll the dice" thingy. Nice quiet dice rolling. It works pretty well! Came with 5 bonus dice (someone didn't like the thingy?) and some used score sheets, along with a regular score pad.
Also found a replacement of a book for my son, that I bought at another thrift store but it turned out to be bound without a couple of chapters. I said "hmm, I think I remember seeing another copy at another Goodwill..." and in fact, so I had!
$3.99 Savers behind Atlantis - same price as Trivial Pursuits. I almost didn't stop here as I was there several days ago. Unpunched and the edition where the orange wood pieces don't look just like the red.
I actually got the 5/6 expansion for this a week ago in exchange for some spaceships & stands from an old Star Trek game. Now I have 2 versions, each with 5/6 as well as a Settlers of America. Now I can have a theme party!
