In the spirit of the Definitive DungeonCrawl Geeklist, this is an attempt at creating a comprehensive listing of horror themed games, including expansions. I need your help to make it happen!

Obviously people could just click on the category "horror" to get something similar, so let's get some good commentary and insight into what makes these games good or bad.

Another recent title and probably one of the most amazingly produced horror games ever. The blood spattered artwork is something to behold and the game includes a set of plastic zombies (no, not 100 of them). The gameplay leaves a bit to be desired as far as tie in to the theme - this is mostly a political game about voting and throwing people "off the island" a-la Survivor.

This is a cute little game with wind up zombies who race through a graveyard. There is a clever card playing element, but mostly it is about maneuvering your zombie over brains laying on the ground and away from open graves and the edge of the board. I've found that the game tends to outlive its welcome a little (which goes with the zombie theme, I guess), and the zombies often have a severe swerve (the company has a great return policy, but it's still a pain to return a zombie they just sent you) which can make it hard to play.

Each person plays as a team of adventurous souls running through a building haunted by a ghastly beast. The beast moves after each of the players has move by flipping a tile and following the proscribed formula. Best if played quickly (with a timer, possibly), because that helps simulate the feel of being chased and not knowing if you'll get caught.

A TSR microgame published in the early 80's. Packaged in a blister pack with a paper map, a couple of dice, and a set of color cardboard chits. You basically move around the map looking for coffins and fighting monsters when you find them. The reverse side of the map takes you inside Dracula's castle in search of the Count himself. Gameplay is light and luck based, but I'm sure a lot of elementary school kids had a lot of fun with this in the 80's.

A solitaire board game by Games Workshop. The board is largely for keeping track of your stats, with most of the game being found in a large deck of cards. You enter a high rise in search of "Darkness", a mysterious beast that will end the world in 60 minutes unless you, a Dolf Lundgren lookalike, can stop him. The gameplay is basically draw a card and deal with the consequences (meaning in most cases, fight zombies). Chances of survival are essentially nil, but the game has a fantastic horror/sci-fi/FPS theme to it and it's very entertaining a couple times a year. Surprisingly addictive too.

This is a delightful two player abstract featuring two sets of opposing ghosts. Each player has a set of good ghosts and a set of bad ghosts. There are three ways to win - eliminate all of your opponent's good ghosts, trick your opponent into eliminating all of your bad ghosts, or escape the board with one of your good ghosts. The key is that from the front, all the ghosts look the same. Only from the back can they be identified as good or bad. There is a lot of bluffing and fun for a 5 - 10 minute long game. An excellent game for children as well.

Surely one of the best known horror themed games on the internet, and probably the best public domain horror game ever - it's Werewolf. Originally called Mafia, the Werewolf theme is a much better fit for the gameplay and it seems to have stuck. Most of the players take on the role of villagers, while a couple players are werewolves. The game alternates between night and day rounds, with the wolves killing a villager each night and the villagers trying and hanging a suspect each day. Actors, liars, and manipulators love this game and it's fun to watch even after you're eliminated.

A light cardgame themed around killing off your relatives in order to secure the most prestigious mausoleum. The artwork is ostensibly inspired by Edward Gorey and the theme is dryly humorous with "accident" cards such as "Croquet Accident" and "Gin and Toxic". Unfortunately the rules as written break down with more than 3 players and even with a published variant the game tends to go back and forth for way too long.

Another Twilight Creations release - this one is set in a haunted house from which players try to escape. In my opinion, the game fails as a horror game because there is nothing actually in the house - it's just a bunch of empty hallways. It's not so good as a game either because there is so much chaos with hallway tiles constantly moving and rotating.
