Awesome games I don't have the guts to buy, because no one would play them with me and that'd make me feel all lonely and sad.

I usually get to play all the games I want to. Even the really big ones like Case Blue.

The white wales of gaming. They're out there. Mocking me. But if I were to go after them I'd venture alone, and that generally sucks when it comes to boardgames.

But I dream about them when I go to bed at night.

Please chime in and tell me how awesome these games are. Or even better tell me I'm better off without them.

Found it! This wonderful beast will be mine, as soon as:
A) I win Lotto
B) My gaming group all get kicked out of their respective homes for a week or so
C) I can make up some kind of story to tell my wife about what is in the mega box when it arrives in the post, something about a very useful, practical and cheap item.

One of the top gaming experiences for me of this year was the game of 7 Ages I got in at a friend's house. It took us two sessions, a couple months apart, of over 11 hours each time. And we still hadn't made it to the 7th Age shake. We started with 6 players, in the 1st Age and made it to the end of the 3rd Age in the first session. In the 2nd session, two players couldn't make it, so we managed to get one new player, and give him the leading position since that player couldn't come. The other player who couldn't make it was in last place, so we just removed his empires.

There are so many interesting decisions to make in this game it felt totally engrossing at all times. I love the deck of cards that have so many uses on each card that it makes your brain do flips trying to decide how to use them.

Since the guy who owns it is one of my regular gaming buddies I might be able to get in a play every year or so. I would love to own a copy but doubt I would be bale to get it played without him, so can't justify the expense.

My current grail game experience. I'm surprised it hasn't made the list yet.

I have to teach most every game I play, so it will be hard in the current situation to learn the rules AND find two others who are so inclined.

What´s wrong with this game? 2 players only

since my gaming group day we are about 4 to 6 persons (up to 12 sometimes) is harsh to play duel games that take so long.

I got Horus Heresy, War of the Ring and battles of westeros getting dust in the game shelf shake.

My regular gaming buddies are mostly lite gamers who are pretty much into Ameri-trash. Some even find FFG card games too abstract... The closest I've gotten to a Euro is Stone Age; and well, yeah.

I'd love to pick up Le Havre or Agricola, but I fear their themes (although not that weak) aren't enough to keep some of my friends interested past the learning curve.

I suppose I could try solo-play (I'm loving the new iOS version of Le Havre), but as the Geeklist title says, "that would make me feel all lonely and sad".

Can only dream of this one for now.

Man, this geeklist title really hits close to home.

This is the one for me. I was planning to make a Dune PnP when they announced it. Waited for it to come out, but when it did I had the sudden realization that the odds of me getting 5 other people to sit down for 2-4 hours for an intense combat negotiation game with Space Turtles were pretty slim.

No, I mean it, it's not the wargame-meme

Not only I don't know anyone willing to play this, but to set it up I should put all my furniture in the balcony and sleep in the bathtub...

I'm looking for a wargame that is as heavy as this one in logistics but with a smaller footprint.

In fact, I wouldn't mind a logistgame: no crt, just investing fuel all around moving your armies

Big map, low counter density, love the history, combined operations, no one to play with, 20 pages of rules, 5 to 8 hours to play

From a Historical point of view this game is right up my alley. But I feel it would too hard to get enough people interested in this at my local games club. I can of one player who would be instantly brilliant at it - and then proceed to tell me how I should play every turn.
That would annoy me.
