These are games that you pick up from thrift stores only because there are some components in the game that prove useful for other gaming needs.

This is a handy travel dice roller, no lost dice and you can make up to 5 rolls at a time. If you can open it up (and close it again!) you can have a custom dice roller too!

Who needs dice boots?

I already owned one of these, I saw an incomplete (missing 2 penguins) one for 99 cents and picked it up on impulse.

We can now play Hey, That's My Fish! (even though any ol' pawns could do the penguin's job) with three colors of poker chips for tiles.

How is this not on the list?

Seriously, these games have killer hardcases that are great for storing stuff. Back in my D&D days I used to carry my players handbook and all my character sheets and dice in a extra big backgammon case. Plus they come with dice, dice cups, and poker chips.

Dragonmaster, Laser Attack, The Goonies & Fireball Island share the same stackable plastic jewels, so you can go any which way to complete any of them.

There probably are other Milton Bradley games out there with them too.

Those wooden Sudoku number tiles are pretty nice. Multiple 1-9 marked wood tiles red and black, and then some have the mini cubes with numbers.

I can think of lots of uses: upgrade cheap betting chips, turn markers, etc.

I'm listing Mille Bornes only because it's the one I've most often seen while thriftin'. But any of the vintage Parker Bros. card games have a similar tray: Encore, Mad Magazine Card Game, Waterworks, Free Parking, Rack-O, etc.

A couple of card trays are incredibly handy on any CCG.

I'm adding this because it has three pawns in five different colors. If you need more than four pawns and you need multiples of each pawn, this is a good one. It's very common and also dirt cheap.

This came up on a recent thrift finds list. Someone needed just such a group of pawns, and I noticed that this game fits the bill.

I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet! It has way cool bits like Shark Fins, Serpent Heads, Whale Tails, and a D6 that with all three on it! It has 3 types of hexagonal tiles!

It has Meeple replacements with hidden values from 1 - 6!

All the parts you need to make your own Euro!

OK, I just figured out why no one had this on the list. The game itself is eBait! I had no idea when I picked it up. I just fell in love with the bits. Damn, now I have to gather the bits from the Chop Shop, reassemble the game and then inventory it.

I passed on this game, simply because it was so expensive when I saw it. But this game has numbered miniature nice and heavy poker chips corresponding to the money bills in Monopoly.

Good for pimping Monopoly, but how about replacing the cheap components from Modern Art or Saint Petersburg!!!

This one's still pretty new, but if you can find it in a thrift store, make sure to grab it. More dice than you know what to do with; d4s, d6s, d12s, d20s, letter dice, symbol dice... it's a gimme for parting out.

Yes. Really. But only in very specific circumstances.

Why? Well, because of the 150 pog-sized disks featuring Pokémons, of course. I *suppose* if you wanted that you could make a set of two of Disk Dominion out of this. But I found a better use for my two spare copies of this game.

My son's room needed a bit of an overhaul. The decals we had on it were, well, more suitable for a younger fellow. So I finally tore them down. But that left the walls incredibly bare. To rectify that, I snagged the pogs and interesting cards from two Master Trainer games and grabbed some sticky-tack stuff from the dollar store (suitable for placing posters on walls and such). A little bit of sticky-tack on the back of each pog and PRESS. Bingo! Instant wall decoration.

My daughter helped as we placed the nearly 300 pogs on the wall. My son was quite surprised when he saw what we had done.

My daughter now wants to do the same with her room, but with Dora cards and such. We'll see...

Besides the clear bases in Jedi Unleashed, which someone else added to the list, I've also thrifted this game for the nearly one hundred one inch white plastic discs. I've used them as through the seasons markers and for my copy of the redesigned Merchant of Venus as the race/IOU markers.

Even better, I think they are actually slightly larger than one inch, since there is a bit of a border when you apply a 1 inch sticker from a hole punch.

*Edit* I've also used them as traitor tokens in my homemade Dune.

Only the Mumble's Tumble (Happy Feet) version of this game.

These are the best-looking and cheapest penguins I've found for a DIY copy of Hey That's My Fish.

The improvements these pieces have over other penguin games' pieces are:
* They don't look plasticky and cheap.
* They are in 4 different poses and colors, so you don't have to paint them different colors to play HtmF.

I have thrifted 2 copies of these, and that's enough for THREE HtmF gifts.

I found this game at a Red, White, and Blue Thrift store for $2.95. I am not keen on the game itself, but I bought it immediately for the pieces. I have several of the Cheapass Games, and these pieces will work wonderfully with those games.

The pieces appear to be made of acrylic, but at first glance they look like some type of "gummi" candy. There are four colors: blue, green, red, and yellow, which come in seven shapes: triangles and diamonds; small, medium, and large squares; circles and hexagons. The shape of the piece determines the path it must follow.
