While looking over the offerings on Regai's Junk Math Trade list, I was struck with horror at the disembodied horse heads pictured for one of the games. This got me thinking about all the other potential nightmare fodder lurking in game boxes.

I'm not talking about game bits that are simply unattractive, or of substandard quality, or vaguely annoying. What games have bits that give you such a wiggins that you fear to see them when you close your eyes?

Not only that, but they don't appear to be uniform in their depiction. While the brown one is clearly meant to represent a detached "bust" of a horse, the two on the left just kind of melt down into the base like a quickly-sketched Lovecraftian image.

It determines movement and storms (which fits reasonably well thematically; one can imagine headwinds or tailwinds impacting speed, and storms stopping progress). It's actually rather clever, because it's a randomization device that can easily be tuned for the number of players.

I didn't fully appreciate the ghastliness of these tiles until I expanded the picture. Maybe I've seen too many movies, but those fingers gave me a flashback to a particular scene in Species which totally freaked me out. Gahh!

As far as "Makin' Bacon" the worst tattoo I ever saw was an amature India ink tat of two pigs in that position and the phrase "Makin' Bacon". I wish I took a picture of that...

Interestingly, the game rules state that any roll where the pigs end up touching causes the player's score to be immediately zeroed, as such is an "undignified position" for pigs.

 Have you ever had that dream where an extremely large Bob's Big Boy mascot animates, and, to everyone's horror, starts swinging at things with a baseball bat? while i agree that that card is kinda freaky looking, i believe that card is actually intended for some other game (like, a free mini-mini-expansion you get for free, if you buy coloretto...)... i don't remember which game, but i think it's mentioned in the rules with Coloretto

:D I think another Geek may have come up with the name, but that's what I've called it since I bought the game.

One of our house rules is that if Chompy Castle is drawn, he chomps (discards) one card from any unclaimed row. (If no cards are available, he goes hungry.)
