Saturday was Major Game Day in Boston. A goodly number of gamers showed up at the Holiday Inn Express for a day of fun. This is a colelction of some of the photos I took and the games I played. Many thanks to the event organizers and to the folks who showed up. I had a really good time.
I know there were things I didn't get photos of (Kontor, Roma, Settlers of Catan) so share some photos or stories of your own!

This was a big hit for me and my friends. I had seen Crokinole many times but had never played it. Now I totally want a board of my own. We had a blast with this one.

This was another new game for us. For some reason, this reminded me of a cross between Caylus and Power Grid, though I can't really put my finger on why. This is one that has graduated to the "probably buy" list as a result of it being at this event.

While our Maharaja game was going on this Roborally game was taking place the next table over. I liked being able to check out the new Avalon hill version, as I have the older version. On the left is Mike, one of the organizers.

One of the games I brought was Tongiaki, which at least two different groups of people tried out. Melissa, second from the left in this picture, said she really enjoyed it. She was another of the event organizers.

I saw a few games of Traumfabrik, but unfortunately didn't get to partake in any of them. Perhaps next time.

A friend of mine brought his copy of Attika. This couple was busy working their way through the rules.

Cambrige Game Factory was there blind testing some games to see how the rules worked out. I jumped in at the chance to teach Glory to Rome to Jason and Laura, as I really like the game. After a few rounds they totally had the hang of it.

There was a Tichu tournament as well. I had been curious to learn the game, so I skipped lunch to learn and partake in the tournament. My partner (Jason, above) and I didn't do so well, but I really liked the game and can't wait to try it out with the missus and some friends.

Someone brought a copy of the new hotness, Warrior Knights, which got a fair amount of play.

I always enjoy teaching people a game I like, especially this one, which always seems to delight the people who learn it.

This is another of Cambridge Game Factory's games, and the only one I didn't play. I did hear good things about it though. In addition to this and Glory to Rome, there were also Sneeze and Splat! There was also a protoype, but I didn't get to see it.

Hamsterrolle! For someone who isn't crazy about dexterity games, I played a few of them here. This one was a lot of wacky fun.

I closed out the event with my third dexterity game of the day. You never quite forget your first double-leaner. (Actually, I believe that after this we went back for some more Crokinole. We just couldn't seem to get enough!)
