Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

So I got an email half hour ago, that I have a package waiting at a packet machine. I drove quickly downtown to fetch the package.

As per Santa's instructions I opened the package and inside were:

So far I am speechless ...

Thank you very much, Santa!

Häid Jõule!

Er, no, not that one.

But I have had a somewhat battered box from Shire Games delivered. With a BGG Santa logo on it. Whilst I do order from them fairly regularly, I don't recall anything that I am waiting for, so I assume this is my Secret Santa gift.

But I'm a good boy. So I will put it away out of sight and temptation, shove it under the tree in a month or so, and tell you what it is after I open it at Christmas.

Edit: This turned out to be Airlines Europe. I researched that when it came out, and decided that it would probably be good fit for the family, and so put it on the wishlist, and promptly forgot all about it.

Anyway, we got it to the table on the evening of Christmas day. From the rules, I described it as a sort of cross between Ticket to Ride and Acquire, which seems to be pretty much how it plays out. Acquire was one of the games that was a staple in our house when the children were growing up, so I assumed that would go down OK, and the game was a great success on this first playing. So Muchas grassy ass, Santa.

Many thanks to my ruthlessly efficient 2012 Secret Santa.

Santa sniped the top game right of my list (my wife is displeased as she has to find something else now ) Santa even gave clearance for an early open and this will most certainly make the table long before our tree is even up.

Happy holidays to all.

Santa arrived early this year and dropped off this gem I've had on my list for a while. I've included an image of the note.

I tried to make my wishlist entertaining to peruse so I added comments after each entry. Tsuro had "Curse you Wil Wheaton pt.1" as watching the TableTop episode with Tsuro in it broke the camel's back, as they say.

Santa went as far as to include on the note of the packaging, "Curse Wil Wheaton, indeed".

Very playful and engaging Santa for my first participation. Will participate next year for sure!

Santa allowed for an early open as well.

Thanks again, Santa!

Due to my current situation, I was unable to participate in Secret Santa this year. You think Secret Santa cares? Heck no! I was informed by (not so) Secret Santa that a game was coming my way. A few days later, what shows up, but an early Christmas gift! Next year's Secret Santa, I fully intend to pay it forward to someone who can't participate. (And not so Secret Santa better remember that I know when his birthday is!) Thank you, and Merry Christmas to everyone!

Not the actual CCG, but....

My highly observant and wonderfully quick-out-of-the-gate Santa sent along an Amazon.com gift card (Amazon's regional Kindle purchasing restrictions applied, even for Santa) with instructions to purchase three of the Fighting Fantasy gamebook Kindle editions:

The Warlock of Firetop Mountain by Steve Jackson & Ian Livinstone

The Citadel of Chaos by Steve Jackson

Deathtrap Dungeon by Ian Livinstone

This all despite my having written a veritable tome in my profile, but having neglected to say anything about my love for Joe Dever's very similar Lone Wolf series of gamebooks. Santa, you are almost creepily awesome, and you can count me impressed by your level of intuition.

Oh, and Santa said this was all just to whet my appetite, as a BGG Con trip by his or her elves (he or she living across the Pond, as it were) would likely take care of the rest of his or her shopping for me. It is a good thing I have so much adventuring to do, or I might just be reduced to a quivering pile of jelly out of excitedly expectant waiting!

I look forward to updating you all on the results of the elves' trip.

Santa, you rock. Everyone else (you probably rock too, and), happy gifting, happy receiving, and Happy Holidays!

Addition--------------------------Addition

The date? November 29th. Time? Around 6pm EST. The place? My apartment.

The wife and I were working through our daily P90 workout, which we normally do in the morning, but we're both working our way through the cold(s) that our students gave us, and so we slept in instead this morning. The sultry tones of Mr. Jack Vasel and Mr. Eric Summerer wafted from the computer, anniversary episode 250 playing, which was rather appropriate, as you, dear reader, shall soon see. About two-thirds of the way through the workout (not the episode, goodness that one has quite the playtime) when we heard a thud at the door. Throwing on a shirt and opening the door, I was greeted by this:

"My, oh my," I mused, "I don't recall purchasing anything from Target." Upon further inspection, I found a name of sender - John Smith. "Ahh, John Smith was the pseudonym given by my BGG Secret Santa," thought I. "That same Secret Santa who today sent me a geekmail that today was the Big Day, and fessed up that he or she did not actually live in the United Kingdom, as I had initially thought." Sneaky, but very informative Santa.

Moving the box into the foyer, I further noticed something which sent shivers of anticipation down my spine.

Hastily opening it (yet, also very carefully), I found myself looking upon a box brimming with goodness.

I knew the contents therein were to be wondrous, as the first item my eyes viewed was a quite sizable organizer for bits. Santa clearly knows I like my games neat and orderly! My mouth waters at the thought of punching and sorting all the bits that would fill this baby.

Next up, I saw a bag of what I describe as perhaps the very best gaming "food." Bite-sized, free of mess, and loved by all (or at least, they should be), they are a sign of one of the best gaming seasons (the other three being Spring, Summer, and Winter). Santa clearly read my lengthy profile with great care.

Last, but most certainly not least, the prize itself, cushioned in air bags and dominating this sizable box - the reason for the massive weight of this box, the cream of the crop, the gleam in Eric Summerer's eyes,

What can I say but AWESOME!!!! My hands shake as I anticipate getting this monster of a game to the table. Santa, you clearly did your homework this year, and went out of your way, providing me with wonderfully scripted communications to which to respond, early surprise presents, and ending with la creme de la creme! THANK YOU, from my family to yours!

Very best Holiday Wishes to my Santa, and all the other Santas out there.
Happy Gaming to you and yours!

I was just leaving for my Tuesday game night at a local bar, and I noticed a small package at my door. Santa sent Zombie Dice and the expansion as a pre-holiday teaser, so I dropped them in my bag and headed out the door.

They were big hits! Zombie Dice is a perfect bar game; portable, easy to explain, and waterproof. We played about 5-6 rounds of the game between rounds of drinks.

By the way, grab the 'Brainscore' app for Android. It's an easy way to keep score, and makes the whole game very portable.

Wow, thank you Santa. Got home today to find a message that there was a parcel in the recycle bin. Was not expecting anything so curious. Started to open it and thought at first it was my pre-order for Gladiatori. Mega surprise as I pulled the game fully into view to see it was Spartacus. Penny dropped and warm feeling of joy and gratitude hit. Diagnosed with psoriasis yesterday so this was a particular pick me up.

Santa, you are a star - thank you so much!

And more, got home today to find
in the recycle bin again! It is where the old cardboard sprues, beer cans etc go. What can I say, Santa you have gone above and beyond. Sunday night will be dedicated to the two gifts. Thank you so much for your fantastic generosity.

Came home for lunch today and found a huge and heavy box sent by my Secret Santa! I already told him I was going to open early so that other folks can use my BGG wish list and he was cool with it. Here's what arrived:

Yay! I've wanted WOTR since the 1st edition went OOP, but could never quite get myself to buy it due to cost. What a perfect gift! Thank you!

The box also had a really sincere and great note:

Feliz Natal? I thought it was Italian, but Google says Portuguese!

I guess Santa is either chill'n in Europe or sunning in Brazil.

Thank you so much, BGG Secret Santa! You were quick, friendly, and brought me much cheer!

I didn't think I was going to make it on the nice list this year. With the help of some friendly reindeer who have been messaging me the last few days, I received my Secret Santa gifts early! I want to thank Dancer for the wonderful wrapping job (even though the box says Amazon )

Oh my, what a wonderful surprise. Not one, or two, but five boxes! I was so excited, I couldn't wait to get home to open them. Most of the reindeer said it was cool to open them early, so I went with the popular vote.

My first present from Prancer and Vixen was Ticket to Ride!

Next up, from Comet and Cupid was 7 Wonders.

From Dasher and Dancer, I received Pandemic: On the Brink

Rudolph got me Ticket to Ride: USA 1910

Finally, from Donner and Blitzen I got a box of Jelly Belly: Bean Boozled jelly beans.

But wait, what's this? Is that Juicy Pear or Boogers? OH NO! That tastes funny, I think it's a booger. Those trickster reindeer. I made my girlfriend spin the wheel with me and try three different flavors. I was lucky and had a peach and a chocolate pudding after my booger flavored jelly bean. She wasn't so lucky and picked a dog food, booger and skunk spray jelly bean.

I want to thank my Secret Santa and all his reindeer from the bottom of my heart. You went above and beyond this year. Myself, my girlfriend and all my loved ones will have countless hours this holiday season enjoying your gifts. I am taking a page from your book and will be buying something extra for my target as well.

Happy Holidays everyone!

EDIT 11/23/2012:

I arrived back in Chicago after spending the last couple days celebrating Thanksgiving with my family in Indiana. We had a chance to play Ticket to Ride and Pandemic: On the Brink, both of which were big hits. I had to be back at work today which had me feeling a little sad, but I got a package in the mail. I had just ordered 7 Wonders: Catan, so I thought that was it. I opened it up quickly to find it gift wrapped. I thought that was strange, but given the Holiday season maybe it was an added bonus to my order. So, I opened the gift to find 7 Wonders: Manneken Pis!

and also a Spin-4-It!

Both with a very kind note from my Secret Santa! So, THANK YOU AGAIN! You have really made this Christmas Season extra special. Reading the other Secret Santa gifts received shows that the BGG community is a really amazing group of people, I'm not the only one who had a very generous Santa. I look forward to reading the rest of the posts, especially from my recipient (who's actually going to wait to open it!).

Excellent! Early arrival this year, and Santa has already hit the spot. I'd had a message to say the "first" package was en route - it arrived today.

No instructions about whether to save till Xmas so...

Opened! I've been after D-Day Dice since I played it print n play, so this is a great tick for the wishlist.

Thanks Secret Santa!

Edit: and today (just a day later) arrived:

Love Letter

Looks really interesting, and not in abundant supply, either - a great treat. Thanks again Secret Santa!!

Wow, my Santa was quick like a bunny! I've exchanged taunts with my target, but haven't even decided on the game to buy yet! I got home last night to discover a package from Amazon. I usually wait until late December to open my BGG Secret Santa gift, but since it's only November 14th, and I was expecting things from Amazon anyway, it didn't occur to me to have Grayskale check if it was a present.

Imagine my glee to find THREE of my wishlist items in the package, and personalized notes about each one.

Dixit Odyssey

And, just to prove they really arrived, an actual photo. Thanks, Santa!
