Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

I did not get home until late last night and I thought I saw something on the porch. I had a couple of boxes and one was from Amazon. So I opened them up and it turned out the one from Amazon and was indeed from my Secret Santa. I did not expect this because I haven't heard from my Secret Santa and I had placed a few orders with Amazon so I was expecting boxes from them. Anyway, it was wrapped up and I did not realize the little slip that they put in the envelope reals what the gift is. I thought they kept that information off there as well. So I know what my gift it but I have not unwrapped it and I will try my best to hold off doing so until Christmas. But I am excited to tear it open and play this game. I am attaching some pictures of the wrapped gift and the card.

So Thank You Secret Santa!! I know that I am going to love this game. YAY, and thank you so much! I am so looking forward to opening this!! I will post pictures after I open it as well.

Merry Christmas Everyone

UPDATE: 11/23/2012 My Secret Santa told me I could open my gift so here it is a pic.

Hi everyone, this is my first participation, and I am pretty shocked!
My Santa gave me a hint, that I am to receive Seasons, and I was totally happy, for my girlfriend wanted that game so much.
And after a week I got a package from Amazon. I thought, that the weight was just for Seasons plus smthg small.
Than I opened the box (with my Santa’s permission, of course) and there I found three nicely wrapped boxes – a large, smaller and one very small, indeed.

There were small cards with each present with nice wishes from my very very best Santa ever! I am just shocked (again), because apart from so desired Seasons, there also was:

Mage Knight was in my wish list already for a long time, but I did not buy it for it needs a lot of time to play and I might not get a company for it. But I do like it very much, just as all Vlaada’ s games.

We already have the original Gloom, but now we got also the Chtulhu edition – this is just great, for we love Lovecraft’s stories, and love games based on his novels, our favorits are Arkham Horror and Mansions of Madness.

Santa, you are the best! Merry Chrsitmas to all!

Yesterday I received an email from the post office and Lautapelit.fi. There was a package waiting for me! RoTA!? No.. It can't be.. Oh no, it's Santa already! He taunted me nicely and I totally forgot to answer him. I swiftly reply to his taunting begging for forgiveness for ignoring him and asking about the package.

Santa was there waiting for my reply (don't know how many sleepless nights did he refresh the inbox hoping for some reaction) and was kind enough to immediately forgive my petty soul. He confirmed the package was indeed from him. There was only one problem left: my girlfriend would never allow me to open the present before the 24th. Santa knew this and said that I should tell her about Saint Nicolas day and all. Well guys.. she laughed in my face and took the huge box to hide it from me. I was allowed to take a picture as a memory. The box is almost the size of Eclipse (+double height).

Now I will have to wait OVER ONE MONTH! before opening that big box. Who knows, the box might be full of packing material and stones (it was quite heavy, some 3-4 kg) as a punishment for ignoring a taunting, joyful Santa. That would be a lesson learned!

UPDATE:

Finally got to see what was inside the big box. 2 wrapped packages! First one was Ninjato, an excellent pick from my wishlist and after two plays (2p and 4p), we found this to be a solid good game. Will write more after few plays.

The second game was Kolejka aka Queue, a game I had never heard of! Polish game of the year 2012. Need to put some stickers (came with the game) on the cards tomorrow as the originals are in polish and give it a try. 2p unfortunately, seems that it's better with more players.

Thank you Santa, you are the very best. Have a good year 2013

My Secret Santa is totally, absolutely, beyond amazing! First, I got his awesome letter just a few hours after I got out of surgery to get my Appendix out. I made a geeklist about how receiving Santa's letter helped me get out of a bleak post-surgery funk, you can read it here:

http://www.boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/149690/heres-a-story-a...

In my story, I wrote about how my surprise surgery disrupted our Thanksgiving plans. But, thanks to the most amazing Secret Santa Ever, Thanksgiving is ON!

This morning-- Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving-- I am hobbling around the house (post-surgery and I am walking about 1/4 speed) when the doorbell rings. Hmmmm, we're not expecting anyone... My husband gets the door... and hollers...

Husband: "Wow! Honeybaked Ham? Where did this come from?"
I work my way towards the kitchen, and say, "No way. It must just be the box. Maybe it's from my Secret Santa! I bet Santa used the box to pack games in."
"But it's cold."
"Well, yeah, it's cold outside."
"No. I mean it's really cold. Cold like ice packs. This is food."
"Wait? What? Food? It doesn't make sense...."
Out comes the box cutter, and ...

NO WAY!! SECRET SANTA YOU ARE THE BEST SECRET SANTA IN THE WHOLE WORLD!!!

It is an entire Thanksgiving Dinner from Honeybaked Ham! The Turkey is already cooked (ahh, cooking... the one thing I knew I couldn't do when they told me my Appendix was coming out on Thursday), side dishes, gravy, and Pecan Pie! Are you kidding me, Pecan Pie!!!

There are no words. Just no words for how amazing this is. How amazing you are Santa. You should have seen my kids dance around the kitchen! Real Thanksgiving Food! Not Post-Surgery Grocery Store Deli Counter! Whoa!!

I am really speechless. Secret Santa, what can I say, Thank You for Thanksgiving! I want to write more, but really, how can I ever articulate how deeply appreciative I am? Thank you for your kindness and extraordinary generosity.

THANKSGIVING DINNER!!!!!!!!

UPDATE 12/27:

More Secret Santa Awesomeness! 2 most wanted games!!

AND

Here is the letter I just wrote Santa in case he doesn't find it in his in box:

Dear Santa,

You were the best Santa anyone could have ever had. Really-- Thanksgiving Dinner! And Geisesblitz 2.0 and Tzolk'in?!?!? Not just extreme generosity, but extreme thoughtfulness! I am really speechless.

Secret Santa and BGG are both great, but you did something so above and beyond, seriously, I am speechless. And yet, I keep writing more words! And here are even more words-- my 2 and half year old and I have been having so much fun with Geistesblitz. We don't play the right way, but we work on it like a collaborative puzzle. It has been a blast and has become the game she has most deeply connected with out of everything I've tried with her. And I should add, I had been trying to find a copy of it for over a year. I even had a "standing order" with an OLGS that regularly gets imports... with no luck. I have no idea how your elves managed to procure one, but I am just thrilled to have it and to play it. I love the way it gives me a melty brain experience and can't wait to break it out next game day!

And Tzolk'in. On top of everything else?!?! My most wanted Essen hotness game?!?! I have already watched the videos on BGG, read the rules and have checked the FedX tracking number a dozen times. A few of my friends have already played a copy that has been floating around Portland and proclaim that it is likely to be my favorite game of the year based on particular game taste.

Santa, I know you are stealthy, secret and all ninja and so forth, but I insist-- if you ever come to the great Pacific Northwest and make it to lovely Portland, Oregon, please, please, please geekmail me and let me host a game night in your honor or take you and your family(?) out to dinner or something!

Thanks again for making this whole holiday season-- and the New Year (when I bust out a half dozen plays of Tzolk'in before we even get close to spring )-- one I will always remember! Happy Holidays and Happy Gaming to you!

My Santa was very creative and definitely went above and beyond this year! Not only did I receive Le Havre, but also included was:

Space Alert

which I've been curious about for a long time.

But even that wasn't all! Also included was an expansion to my oldest son's favorite game:

Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game – Fame and Fortune

But even that wasn't all! I also got a personal card with a gift card to Office Depot and instructions on what type and how many "perfect little boxes" to buy to help in storing our new games.

Thank you Santa for your creative clues, taunts, and thoughtfulness. This makes the 4th year in a row that my Santa has been the best

UPDATE!

Secret Santa you are BEYOND AWESOME!! A couple weeks ago my SS teased me with a comment referring to "games" yet to be delivered and he/she even commented that yes gameS were yet to be delivered and was deciding if they should come trickling in or one big box. Then out of nowhere, without a hint or clue, a mysterious package was on my doorstep. Thinking it was something I ordered, I began cutting the tape and opening the package to reveal not one, not two, but THREE wrapped presents inside! Along with a nice little note from Santa telling me I could be a little naughty and open ONE now, but that I had to wait until Christmas or Christmas Eve to open the others.

As I took the boxes out to examine (read as shake, shuffle, compare to other know game box sizes, etc...) what they could be I thought about what might be inside. Now, I think this was a little crafty on my part, but I was told I was just cheating; One of the boxes was the EXACT same size and weight of Summoner Wars: Guild Dwarves vs Cave Goblins, so logic says it's probably:

But I did not chose this one as I was just beginning my "investigation!"

Next up was a very standard box size, the SQUARE - think Ticket to Ride, Hmmmm... What did I have on my wish list that fits that size?
Mice and Mystics?
Last Night on Earth: Timber Peak?
Dungeon Run?
Olympus?
City of Horror?

Then I went to check the descriptions of the games to see what came in them. Behold! The game pages have exact box measurements on them!! HUZZAH!!! I felt like I just uncovered a great secret to identifying games; You can measure the wrapped box and then you'll know what's inside! The realization of what I had discovered and what I was contemplating was sad (ever feel like kid eating the last cookie and then turn around to see your little brother/sister staring up at you with those sad puppy dog eyes?) and I felt like I was cheating by the time I checked all the measurements. But since I already wrote them down, here you go:

Mice and Mystics = 11.5" x 11.5" x 3"
Last Night on Earth: Timber Peak = 12.00" x 12.00" x 2.75"
Dungeon Run = 11.90" x 11.90" x 2.90'
Olympus = 11.75" x 11.75" x 3.00"
City of Horror = DRAT! No measurements!

The sheer adventure of it all convinced me to keep going, I mean I just made a GAME out of finding out what my games might be! On a second note, who would have thought that someone could get excited about measurements that didn't come from a Playboy Centerfold stat block? You know that "ideal" 36" x 24" x 36"?!?!? No, here at my age, in my world, 12" x 12" x 2.75" and the like were so much more sexy! lol... So I am going to speculate based on the measurements of the wrapped goodness:

Spoiler (click to reveal)
Last Night on Earth: Timber Peak - I hope I'm right!!!

Now that I'd gone that far I felt I better stop before I crossed the line, so I just opened up the last gift and this is what I found:

For the record Santa, I followed your rules to the letter and only OPENED one present and yes, you are right, you are DA'MAN!

!!!BEST SECRET SANTA EVER!!!!

END UPDATE!

Thank you Santa!!! I got back from my trip last night to discover a package with a smile on the box addressed to me. I didn't recall ordering anything, what could it be?!! Hmmmmm... So I opened it to discover a nicely wrapped box with this wonderful note attached:

"David,

A little BoardgameGeek Secret Santa teaser...
There will be more to come!!!
Gotta go for now,
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Santa"

I shook and tumbled the box, trying to guess at it's contents and once I think I figured it out, I justified that it clearly said "teaser" and "HAPPY THANKSGIVING," meaning it was a gift for NOW, not later, so I opened it!

Perfect choice! Excited to play with the new factions!

Thank you again Santa!!!

I left work early today, as I had a personal errand to run. When I got the call that told me a package arrived for me, I got curious. Then when I learned it was from amazon.com, I instantly knew it was from my super fast Santa. As shipping something to Turkey takes about a month. I just posted in my profile to inform my SS, but I was too tired to get back to work.

I got home about 10PM, and told my wife the situation. She did not let me in, and send to me directly back to work to get the package with the warning not to open them before getting back home. I got the package and got back. When we open up the package, we found three gift wrapped packages.

Wow, that was very generous of my Santa. As I already had the permission from Santa to open the presents, my wife tore apart the gift wraps in seconds. Inside we found three fantastic games:

Wars of the Roses: Lancaster vs. York
The game I heard all good things, and was itching to try. It was literally on top of my wishlist.

The Castles of Burgundy
My wife's favorite game that she had kept telling me to buy for her.

Forbidden Island
Finally, one of the best coop games out there. This was not on my wishlist, but Santa had it in his bag for me after finding out my love for coop games.

Thank you Santa, as it was great to enjoy the presents like a child again. I am sure these games will hit the table often, and each time we will be thankful to you.

I hope you have a generous Santa -but I guess I had the best one -
MERRY CHRISTMAS

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. The 3 worst day at work, since I started working for 3 years ago. The project I am working on seems to be canceled. 3 days of really hard work... When I came home I was upset, said and really tired. My fiance stood in the doorway, and told me that she had a little surprise for me. She led me into the living room and on the couch there was... a package. A big package! A package from Secret Santa!!!!

There wasn't a notice on the package, so I opened it, and I found not one gift but two gifts, nicely wrapped!

Well what should I do? Should I open it? Should I keep it wrapped? I looked on my fiance for help. She adviced me to open it. Christmas is far away... So let see what Secret Santa sent.

I'm a fan of coop games, and I was surching this one for a while, and now I own it. And also the expansion... Now I try to wait till Christmas with my first play. Can't promise anything...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you Secret Santa! You made my day!

This past weekend while at home with the family, Fedex the Reindeer arrived, bringing me a package straight from the North Pole, mysteriously called, "Cool Stuff Inc".

To my families surprise, the gigantic box was a mystery ( it really was, I thought that it was something that I had ordered ). Soon after opening it, I realized that my Secret Santa had struck!! Santa had told me that a package would soon be arriving from the North Pole, and it got here super quick!! I opened the package to find....

Then after searching through the endless styrofoam peanuts, I found...

Then, I heard something else calling from the box. I dug deeper into the peanuts to find my last bit of Christmassy goodness...

I would like to Thank Santa for these wonderful gifts!! Wow, it wasn't expected, but it's definitely appreciated!! I'm sooooo happy that I was such a good boy this year.. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays everyone!!

Yesterday there was an unknown package in the mail and Yada-yada-yada.. it's now opened

I took pics of the nice X-Mas wrapping and the card, and I will post them later as health issue makes it difficult right now to stay up more than 10 mins.

But I wanted to take the time to say a HUGE thanks to my SS! This will be a great game to play with my bro, during the holidays familly reunion! My fiancee is a bit less thrilled, but promised she would try it

Along wit the game was also a figurine from the DC HeroClix line.(couldn't find the one I received in the BGG database)

That one had me puzzled though, not having any heroclix at all... Santa must have put something in his milk before doing the packaging! whistle

Thank you Secret Santa, er, I mean Agent of E.L.F. Coulson. (And I finally got to see The Avengers this past weekend).

I got home today to find a package I assumed was the game I ordered for my own target. I open up the box to find a nicely wrapped gift inside. I think "fantastic, we can open these up for the first night of Hanukka" since we celebrate both holidays in our house. Also we're travelling to Edmonton for Christmas and were planning to get a game for everyone to play. I cleared it with Agent Coulson to ensure I could open early and avoid duplicated plans.

Anyway, it turns out that tonight, it's just me and my two-and-a-half year old at home who immediately sees this. I've included a ceramic reference pear.

I tried to explain to him that we were going to save this for about another week or so, and well, he's pretty articulate for a two-year-old and he just grabbed a gift and opened it. I wish I could say I tried to stop him but curiosity got the better of me too!

He opens, in quick succession, a copy of Zombie Dice, Finca, and Lords of Waterdeep, as well as a Mercenary Heroclix figure. When he opened up Finca he asked me what it was, and I said "a game for Daddy." He then opened up Lords of Waterdeep and said "This is my game Daddy!" It was pretty cute.

We cracked open Zombie Dice and had a discussion on how to pronounce Dice. He loved playing "ice" which involved putting all the dice in the cup and shaking it until they flew everywhere. That's how you play Zombie Dice right? Well, it is now. I tried to convince him they were Dice and not Ice - duh-duh-dice - to which he replied, "yes Daddy, duh-duh-Ice."

I wanted to say thanks for the generous gift. It's been a weird year for us and just having those first few moments of joy from a gift from a stranger bodes well for 2013. We're looking forward to having some family time and to just unplug for a few weeks - these are all fantastic choices (you are an Agent of E.L.F. with impeccable style and taste) that we can't wait to play. (Although now I kind of feel a bit bad for not having such a generous gift for my own target! The shipping costs are WAY more than any game I'm sending, which kind of reduced what I could spend, even if I know that's not the point. Who knew shipping to former Soviet bloc countries was not the easiest?).

And it seems today will be spent watching one too many videos on how to play these games!!! Can't wait.

Dear Santa,
I've been as good as I can be, but unfortunately the box did not make it under my tree. I had to stay in Toronto for two nights longer than planned, I got home late yesterday so I hope you understand.....After having my car break down Sat. evening, I had to wait until Monday to find a place that could look to see what was the reason. A very much unexpected major repair left me wanting to pull out much of my hair.

I got home last night with my husband encouraging, "What's in the box!?!" he asked just like Pitt in the movie "Seven". I was bad Santa and I gave in, I tore into my large box with a mischievous grin. To my great surprise I found not one, not two ,but three games..I am so astounded by your generosity, would you be so kind as to tell me your name? I have wanted to write to you to thank you today, but have been so behind with work I have been left a little dismayed. I truly hope you have a happy holiday...I am rarely left with so little to say. With your permission, I would like to open the games to play with family, and take them to CABS, our local board game society. We are doing an after turkey day marathon of games for 3 days...I would like to bring Mice and Mystics to play. Thank you, thank you, thank you....you have been so sweet...may this holiday season also bring you a very big treat...~Jaclyn

I had a rough fall season this year, New York City was hit hard by Sandy and my father suffered from his 3rd stroke, which turned out to be worse than his other two, so when I received an early Christmas gift from my secret Santa, who turned out to be, not so secret since her name appeared on the gift invoice, it cheered me right up, not only did she send me this generous gift, she also sent me a bag of Hershey's cookies and cream chocolates, which I shared with my colleagues at work, and a pleasant additional gift of the Troll and Country expansion for my Battlelore game, needless to say this made a somewhat blue Christmas into a bright and cheery one kiss

THANK YOU JESSICA AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS, MAY GOD'S BLESSING ENVELOP YOUR HOME THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

On a Sunday I received a box from Board Game Warriors on my Door Step.

Opened it up and inside were 3 brightly colored wrapped gifts.

I know what 1 of the boxes may be, but I'm not sure what else there is in these gifts.

I'm excited as Christmas comes up and can't wait to see what's inside.

Update: I received War of the Ring, The War of the Ring Sleeves for the Cards and Scary Tales! Thanks Santa!

So, I got home from work and had a package waiting on the front step. At first, I thought it may be a Kickstarter purchase, but realized (once I noticed Santa's permission in my GeekMail inbox) that it was, in fact, my Secret Santa package. Once I received the blessing from my lovely wife, I opened the box, and saw that Santa gave me:

Ora et Labora

along with

Summoner Wars: Jungle Elves Faction Deck

and

Summoner Wars: Mercenaries Faction Deck

Wow! I thank you for your generosity, Mr. Claus. This was a wonderful surprise, indeed!
