Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

As I'm a native Swede studying in America I was very happy when I came to my host family for Thanksgiving and they told me there was a package for me. Santa was really nice to me and sent me both Power Grid and Puerto Rico (Yes, Sanata told me that he preferred me opening the gifts now and use them ASAP).

The gaming group I was in last year, owned Power Grid and when we split up Power Grid went to someone else so it's nice owning a copy of my own now. Puerto Rico is something I've always wanted to try and reading through the rulebook I see why it's so popular. Can't wait to get these two games out and playing with my friends...if they'll ever find time for it in the middle of their college studies.

Santa, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for sending me these wonderful boardgames. Thank you!

My boyfriend sent me a message at work informing me that I had a parcel awaiting me at home. Knowing that I had ordered nothing else, I knew it had to be my Secret Santa gift! Unfortunately, I was several hours away from finishing work and getting home. It was a long 20 minute bus ride home tonight.

And when I got home, my boyfriend greeted me at the door with the box and a knife to open it up. laugh

Inside were 3 very nicely wrapped gifts (I took pictures, but I'm about to play the game so they'll have to wait).

The biggest package was Elder Sign. The smallest one was the Blessed Dice set for Arkham Horror. And the last one was Nottingham, which I've never heard of but it looks fun.

Thank you Santa!!

And now I'm off to battle the Ancient One!

--

And finally (after multiple plays of both games), the promised photos!

The wonderfully wrapped gifts from BoardgameWarriors:

The shiny box covers were surprisingly difficult to get a decent shot of.

Secret Santa was very prompt this year!

I came home from a trip on Saturday 17 November to find that a box from CSI had already arrived!

I decided to wait until Christmas Day to open my presents, so my wife opened the box and wrapped all THREE presents.

Santa had mentioned something about a surprise present (which I totally enourage), so I'm completely in the dark about one (or two?) of these.

I'll update once everything is open.

Let the waiting begin!

SECRET SANTA UPDATE!

Post-present-opening frenzy we found:

Two surprises! Finca was the oddly-shaped box that was vexing me, and Shadows over Camelot: The Card Game. I had asked for (and suspected, based on the box) Cosmic Encounter: Cosmic Alliance.

But the big hit of Christmas afternoon has been Finca! We opened it up, played it right away, and my wife clobbered everyone else. Hopefully we'll play again later today and have a chance at redemption.

Holy Crap! Oh my god, seriously OMG OMG OMG!!! Secret Santa you are just too kind! Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are so amazing! I can't put into words how totally awesome and Amazing you are! The wife grabbed the camera when your package arrived, just so she could capture all the excitement for you.

So the packaged arrived and I was greeted by this message on the outside of the box. My anticipation by this point was bubbling over.

Upon opening the box...

Awesome. I had no clue that such a thing even existed. Thank you so much! This thing spins ridiculously well. Very cool, and handy because I'm always asking who's going first.

I opened the box, and well... let's just say I about lost my mind... My wife snapped this awesome photo just as I saw what was inside...

Yes, that is my holy %*#@! face. I was completely stunned. Completely blown away by what I saw in the box waiting for me.

First, up was the aforementioned 1st & Goal. Definitely a very wanted game. So absolutely thrilled.

Second, I pull out Dominion: Prosperity. OMG! It's THE expansion to Dominion that I absolutely wanted. Holy crap, I'm so pumped up as you can see...

Third, The only way I can describe it is like looking at a mirage. I had to rub my eyes to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing. I'm still completely in shock, but looking back up at me was... The Pillars of the Earth I couldn't help but pose for another picture.. As you can see, I'm starting to have a hard time containing myself...

One final picture of the 3 games out on the table. Thank you, Thank you for the games, thank you for the Spin-4-It. Thank you Santa you really are the best!!!

I got a geekmail from my Secret Santa on Nov. 11 saying my present was coming very soon. Very soon indeed.

Then I went to BGG Con for the week and while there, got mail saying my package was delivered to my house but no one was home. So far away and knowing there was a present for me at home. Couldn't wait to get there. (But I was having the time of my life at the Con!)

Now home, I picked up the package today and it was big and mysterious, with fragile stickers all over it. I opened it immediately to see if it was gift wrapped. There were 2 boxes, gift wrapped beautifully, with a ribbon. I intended on not opening them, but then I felt the big one. I felt the side and knew immediately that it was Lords of Waterdeep! You know, with the strange box lid half way down the side? Unmistakable. Then I got really excited! Couldn't help myself. I just had to open them then. I've got friends coming over tomorrow and we can play Lords of Waterdeep! Yes! I've wanted this game ever since I first played it!

And there was another game too, one I've never heard of but it looks interesting. Absolutely unexpected to get a second game. You are really terrific, Santa.

Scary Tales: Little Red vs. Pinocchio

Thank you so much, Santa. This is my first SS and I'm over the moon.

Why my Secret Santa Rocks:

1) Despite my apparent disinterest in his immediate and clever taunts (for the record - I was on vacation), he maintained his enthusiasm and good humor. It's good to know that Santa is not only jolly and kind - he's downright tenacious!!

2) He sent me not one fabulous game, but two!! wow

Survive: Escape from Atlantis!

Biblios

3) He whipped his elves so hard that these great titles got to me today - Thanksgiving Eve. This means (thanks to my giddy impatience) that the family will be enjoying some quality gaming time with some new games post-feast tomorrow!

4) As if this weren't already more than anybody could hope for, he's hinted that another gift will also be forthcoming. Mercy - I'm lucky. modest

5) And finally, my Santa rocks because I can tell from his words and his generosity that he is one righteous dude!

Thank you, Mr. Not-So-Secret Santa!! You have already made my Christmas.

May you - and ALL THE GOOD PEOPLE ON BGG - have a most Merry Christmas and a Grand 2013!!!

When I got an email from my Santa telling me a package was on its way, I was excited, but I promised myself I'd wait until Christmas, or maybe Thanksgiving, to open it.

I found the box on my way to work today, and I had opened it by the time I went in to work.

The box was big, but I was still shocked when I pulled out the contents.

On top was The God Kings, a CDG about ancient warfare that I can't wait to try out.

Then I dug some more, and found a copy of Field Commander: Napoleon, my ultimate "really want but can't justify the expense" game, which absolutely blew me away. I couldn't believe how generous my Santa had been.

I almost didn't think to look any deeper. To do so would have somehow seemed deeply presumptuous. But there was a gift code attached to Field Commander: Napoleon, so I wanted to make sure I didn't miss any other paper, so I reached in again. I was surprised to pull out a copy of Android: Netrunner, the game I currently most want to play.

Santa, I can't thank you enough for your generosity and the deep consideration you obviously put into your choices. Thanks so much; you've already made my holiday season, and I hope someone pays you back with interest.

I opened the parcel expecting the game inside to be wrapped...it wasn't wrapped! I got the much coveted expansion to one of my favourite games! And apparently still something else to come!!!
D
Santa, your generosity is astounding! And I promise I'll get back to trying to decipher your riddles...just after one more game of Claustrophobia... laugh

Edit: The other part of my gift arrived on Friday!

Hammer of the Scots!!

I can't wait to try this out! It's been on my wish list for ages and I had no idea that this was what my Santa would choose! I'm stoked and am really looking forward to try out block war gaming with my fiancé; it will be a very new experience for us!!

I instantly knew it was from SS as I haven't ordered anything for quite some time and the courier had a BIG package with something rattling inside... whistle
Santa hadn't forbidden me to open my present so I quickly dived inside just to find out that my Secret Santa this year was an Expansion Santa

Apart from SW:Realms I also got:

Kingdom Builder: Nomads

and

The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game – Khazad-dûm !!!

What a great way to make my play some of my games more Santa knew I've had very little time to play recently so I guess this is his incentive for me to take some of my gems back to the table. And I will certainly not disappoint him!
Thanks a lot Santa and have a very merry Christmas!!!

Today I received the SS gift.

This is my first Secret Santa and I'm really happy how it turned out. I saw my target receiving the gift and making an entry in this geek list (He didn't unwrap the present yet, but he looks happy about it).

I want to express my gratitude to my SS who gifted me a copy of this fabulous game. I would rather see he didn't reveal his identity to me, but at least I didn't know what I will be getting.

Since my wish-list is kind of short, when I got the package I instantly knew I got this game.

Here are some photos of the gift I got;

Santa knows which wish is the most important to you. I've been holding Mexica on my wishlist for a long time. It is quite hard to obtain unless you pick it at Essen or find some good shop. I told myself: There will be some occasion, when you'll find this game and get it.

Now I no longer have to. Santa did it.

Thank you very much.

Along with Mexica there was Jambo with both expansions. Three more reasons to express gratitude.

Update:

I think my Santa was more generous than anyone could expect…

Santa employed modern technologies to ensure all the gifts reach recipients on time. I also suppose, this planet is inhabited by so many of us, that Santa needs to put some of his deliveries in the hands of shipping companies. So, I’ve been not very surprised to have my presents been delivered not by reindeer but a human in corporate worksuit.

Unfortunately, my gift was taxed. Messenger handed me a parcel and suddenly asked me to pay customs duties. Surprised, I fumbled in my pockets to find I have no cash… so I asked to schedule another delivery date. Courier set the status to “rejected” and went off.

I was patiently waiting for next day, when I received a letter from Santa. “Rejected! How it is possible to reject the present!” he asked. Tracking disclosed there were some problems with delivery and this seriously concerned Santa. I explained whole situation… Unexpectedly, Santa decided to compensate me this additional expenses and sent me even more presents…

So now, I have Lords of Waterdeep, String Railway and Dragonheart on my shelves too. Thank you very, very much!

May the Almighty bless the Santa!

I briefly waited until Christmas Eve to open the package. It wasn't really big and I checked my wantlist over and over again what it couold be.

I was really happy to finally find out that my secrect santa was a generous one as it was THE GREAT ZIMBABWE !!!

I didn't bought the game in Essen (I even did not investigate much, so I would have known that it wasn't a bigbox game) but placed it on my wishlist as i enjoy Splotter games regulary.

So, once again, THANK YOU VERY MUCH my Secret Santa! It was a pleasure to be our target!

OK, we are in business people!

My first year of Secret Santa, it's been a blast, even before I get to the present part. I had some lengthy and entertaining banter with Santa during which, in summary, the elves rose up and seized power from Santa, who got sent to the toy mines.

Guilt-ridden, I encouraged Santa to negotiate with his workforce and they eventually agreed to reinstate him. The troublesome elf who started the rebellion got booted out of the sleigh somewhere over the Atlantic, while Santa quoted an appropriate, if salty, John McClane catchphrase.

It was a lot of fun, but the week since Santa told me the parcel was on its way have ben AGONISING. I work from home so every time the doorbell rang I was getting all hyper-ventilaty with excitement. Rarely can meter readers and door to door evangelists have been greeted with such enthusiasm.

I was able to distract myself by tracking the progress of my target's parcel on the other side of the world, and was really chuffed to see their entry pop up on here a few days ago, looks like the giving part of the process worked out just fine.

The postman finally delivered a few minutes ago, this is what I received:

The flowers you can see on the left arrived at the same time. At first I thought they were from Santa too, perhaps trying to take our burgeoning relationship to the next level blush but they were a house warming gift from my auntie Jennifer, which is also nice.

Note presence of reference Lego Lex Luthor, for scale.

I asked Santa if I could open the box and he quickly said yes. I decided to wait for my fiancee to get home so there would be someone on hand to document the event. Several hours later:

More than one parcel inside, excellent!

Intriguing range of sizes...

Opening the smallest package I was delighted to find:

Revolver Expansion 1.1: Ambush on Gunshot Trail

Hurrrah!

On to the second parcel.

flippin' crikey, it's Memoir '44: Eastern Front

You can see from the photo how excited that made me.

Third and largest parcel (my brane now melting with excitement) was:

Mission: Red Planet

Which was the icing on the cake. Or rather the extra cake on top of the two awesome cakes I'd already eaten. Plucked straight from the top of my wishlist, this trio of gaming goodness is festive generosity turned up to 11.

In all their glory, with reference Luthor and enthusiastic man:

Santa, you totally rule, this has been a day that I will think back on for a very long time to come, mega-seasonal greetings from sarf London!

(And thanks also to your mystery helper, whoever you were!)

And of course, shout out to http://www.boardgameguru.co.uk/ for making it happen, one of Santa's most well-beloved elves.

Merry Christmas everyone, and Thanksgiving too, whatever that is!

December 19th Update

A couple of days ago I got a geekmail from Santa saying that (s)he'd been keeping an eye on me and was, in view of some modest contributions of mine to the 2012 BGG Supporter Badge Drive / Rummage-O-Rama Give-Away, going to send me a 'token of appreciation.'

I already feel thoroughly blessed by Santa's generosity, and so was AMAZED to receive ANOTHER game in the post yesterday. San Juan is not a game I've played, but Santa has correctly pegged me as a role selection fan and I'm super-chuffed, can't wait to try it. Santa, you really, really are the best!

Here's a photo of this unexpected (and undeserved) bonus present under our tree, accompanied on the left by a small festive christmas goat.

Ok, way back on entry number 50 I revealed that I had gotten Cosmic Encounter from my Secret Santa. Well, I didn't know Santa wasn't done with me just yet. Yesterday, I got a second package and inside I found Cosmic Encounter: Cosmic Conflict. Wow, Santa, just wow. Cosmic Encounter was a great gift on it's own, but now you've given me an expansion to add in. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! CE has a ton of variety right out of the box, and you nearly doubled that with this expansion. Who doesn't want more aliens for their CE games.

I must have been a really bad boy this year

My bgg Santa got me a game I already have "conquest of planet earth"

And my dice tower secret Santa gave me the stone age expansion when I don't even have the base game.
Sheesh

Color me disappointed

Oh well, on to next year.
Going to need to behave myself I guess...

*EDIT*
turns out that Santa contacted the OLGS and they offered to take back the game and exchange it value for value. Santa even agreed to top up any difference if it was within a reasonable range

so i went back to the shop and walked out with a copy of Legendary.
did the top up myself as i didnt want to spend any more of Santa's money
i'm just glad to be able to get the thing changed ( sounds like a simple thing but it was difficult to tell because the OLGS became a FLGS under a different name. so accounting purposes was tough to iron out )

so thats it ! a happy ending for my BGG Santa gift

now about my DiceTower Santa gift, well, i dont think the base game is coming. need to find out how to get the expansion off my hands as well.

Santa came early this year and I think he brought me a copy of Risk Legacy, because that's what Amazon put on the Packing Slip, but everyone knows Santa doesn't use Amazon, he makes his own toys and delivers them with Rudolph... that mean's I will just have to wait to Christmas to see what's really in the package.

Thanks Secret Santa (and all the elves who helped deliver this package all the way to Denmark).

I think I had the best Secret Santa. He sent me funny messages, he spied a lot of information about me. And he was very-very (maybe too) generous.
I got three games.
Thank you very much BSS! (Best Secret Santa)

I would like to refer readers to my comment on entry 237 on page 10. I posted the comment earlier today.

Anyway, I called my folks tonight to check how they were doing etc. My father told me that there were a few packages for me. I took a breath and asked him to open them and let me know what they were.

After all, I was waiting on 3 Melt Banana CDs from ebay (they'd arrived), 2 100 Bullets comics from ebay (they'd arrived), Elfenland from a BGG trade (it had arrived) and Wings of War from a geeklist auction (it had arrived). Also series 4 of Farscape on DVD because stupidly I'd snapped a disc from my complete collection and my completest self HAD to have it replaced (it had arrived).

My old man then opened another box and said "from your Secret Santa....it's from America."

I paused and the little devil on my shoulder said "well, it's good to know so that you can ask for games from family for Christmas! You don't want to get two of the same game do you?"

The angel remained quiet (he's a bit of a pushover).

Then my dad uttered the clincher: "It's two games, pretty big!"

Go on then, open.

So unless my dad is lying (which he isn't as he wouldn't even know about the existence of these games) I now have Field Commander: Napoleon which is frankly astonishing by itself. THANK YOU SO MUCH SANTA!
1. I've been on a huge Napoleonic Wars kick recently.
2. We have a baby so gaming time with my wife has understandably dropped away....so solo Napoleonic gaming!!!!!!!!

Then the other box...

I'm also now the proud owner of Android: Netrunner which is brilliant because I love the cyberpunk theme and it also means I'm one of the cool up-to-date kids! I can see that getting played a lot too.

Santa, this makes you one groovy and happening dude. It's amazing that I really bigged up the other entry earlier today and then got those two games I got excited about for them! Thankyouuuuuuuuu.
