Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

I love you Santa!! Thank you so much. This was one of my Must Haves.

Got a package delivered direct from Leisure Games, with a clue on the mailing label...

I had a ninja Santa so in the absence of any instructions, I opened it to find a lovely gift-wrapped game:

Santa was determined not to give any clues as to his identity...

But whoever you are Santa, you're the best and you've made my day.

So yesterday I got home to find a box with TWO wrapped presents in them! I had my 2 year old son help me open them, and lo and behold, it was Smash Up, as well as

Nexus Ops!

I happened to have a gaming friend over, and we played both of them, and it was great fun.

So thank you very much, oh generous Santa!

My Secret Santa really outdid himself! This is my first year participating in Secret Santa. I have a friend who does it every year and raves about it but I always seemed to forget to sign up. This year I signed up as soon as I saw the post go up.

Agricola is a game that I have played a few times but rarely get the chance to play. I actually will have to read the rules since it has been so long since I last played. Now that I have it, it will definately be getting played more often.

I would have been more than happy with just this game but my Secret Santa went above and beyond. Also in the box was Infiltration! We waited too long at this year's GenCon and it had sold out when I went to grab a copy.

Thank you Santa!

I was quite excited when I came home yesterday and found 2 boxes from Deutschland. One lists the contents as +1 Board game and the other as +1 board game and +1 board game promo. I am going to be good and wait to open them until it gets a little closer to Christmas. I will update this post once I know what is inside these amazing boxes. Thank you very much Santa.

So opened the packages on Christmas day. Santa was quite nice to me and gave me Sator Arepo Tenet Opera Rotas, Glen More, and 7 Wonders: Catan Island. Thank you again Santa.

My Secret Santa informed me that the FedEx elves would be by today with my package. Sure enough, the FedEx van pulled up as I was hanging Christmas lights on the house earlier this morning.

Santa was nice enough to let me open one gift now. So, my wife checked out the box first and wrapped up the two games inside. Based on the size of the games and my wishlist, I guessed the small package was Citadels, so I decided to open that one and keep the other a surprise. I was right!

Thank you so much Santa!! I've been wanting this game for a while now. I can't wait to unwrap the other one on Sinter Claas. meeple

I also got a $5 CoolStuffInc gift certificate for a future purchase - woot!

Here's the nicely sized box that arrived from CoolStuffInc:

My cat checking out the box:

My wife did an awesome job wrapping them:

My guess was correct!

Update:

I was supposed to wait until December 6 to open the second gift, but an unfortunate event early this morning caused me to open it early. Was sleeping peacefully when we heard a huge crash/glass shattering sound. The Christmas tree fell over and destroyed many of the ornaments my wife and I have collected over the years. The above pictured cat came running down the hallway right after the crash, so I'm thinking she may have tried to climb the tree and that's why it fell over.

Water from the tree stand was all over the wood floor. As I started sopping it up (while trying to avoid kneeling on the broken glass), I realized my BGG secret santa gift was completely soaked. I started freaking out, but my wife reminded me it was enclosed in plastic. I wasn't going have it sit in wet wrapping paper, so I opened it up and found this:

Awesome! I'm really excited to have this game!! Thanks so much to my Secret Santa - you rock!

But I'm happy, giddy because it is my first BGG secret santa.

Though, an almost not-so-nice urgent board-gamer code red occurred. My mother almost mistook the parcel as hers and opened the gift. She opened the stocking filler which is pictured below.

I almost did a Sheldon Cooper stare. Man.....

So saying that. Here's the pics: (Have fun guessing)

This is my first Secret Santa ever and I'm super impressed.

My box of Christmas arrived the other day and with Santa's permission I tore into the packages! All four of them!

The fourth was a Dark Knight Rises Heroclix miniature. I've never seen these before but it was a super cute addition!

My Secret Santa was awesome with plenty of great spirited emails and a little teasing about when I could open it! I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and will definitely partake again next year. Have a great Christmas everyone!

Thank you so much Santa!

In Magnificent Style.

Yes, this is only fitting for what I got from my Secret Santa. My Santa did it most assuredly in Magnificent Style. And of course dripping with great generosity.

First of all, what I got in the mail in the span of two days:

So I opened the small one first (I had certain directions to follow):

and in that small package:

Two homemade CDs of one of my favorite bands the White Stripes (two of my greatest live shows I have ever seen were seeing them in Detroit and here in Minneapolis). One of which I am listeing to right now as I write this, the KCRW radio station with live interview and live music, so not just stuff I could really go out and get for myself. So this was really really cool. Unexpected and awesome.

Then I opened up the big package:

Two of the games I had on my Wishlist. In Magnificent Style and Dawn of the Zeds both from Victory Point Games. Two great Solo games I have been wanting to play. It's so weird to be surprised by games you had on your Wishlist, but I was still surprised because I kind of forgot what I had on there and didn't think I would get them.

So, Secret Santa, from Minnesota to California, I say thank you. Great job.

Almost forgot, more on the CDs:

Got this in the mail the other day from my Secret Santa. I actually hadn't played this expansion, so I am really curious to find out how it plays with AH. From what I understand it is one of the best expansions for the game, so thank you Santa for your generosity! I hope you and everyone else has a Merry Christmas!

Update:

The best way to describe what my Secret Santa sent me is by recounting the exact scene when I got home from the grocery store with my roommate.

Me: Oh look, a package was left for us. (Looks at package) Hmm, it's from my Secret Santa.

Roommate: Cool! I wonder what is inside.

(both bring in groceries and put them away).

Me: It looks like there is a card, maybe I should read it, but it looks like Santa's from CA.

(takes off label to find no writing)

Me: Hmm...well, it doesn't say don't open until Christmas, so let's see what's inside.

(Struggles with tape for a bit, but manages to get the box open finally and opens the box).

(Looks through layers of bubble wrap and recognizes box cover)

Me: OH MY GOD!!!!!!

Roommate: What!?

Me: DO YOU NOT KNOW WHAT THIS IS!?

Roommate: NO! What is it!?

(Unwraps bubble wrap to my Warhammer fanatic roommates astonishment)

Roommate: HOLY $*&%*&(%^*&$%^$^%$*&^*(&! Dude, you have to let me paint these!

Me: BEST SECRET SANTA EVER!

(End Scene)

I just have to say I have the GREATEST SECRET SANTA EVER!!!!! I put something down on a wishlist with no real thought that you would ever send such an amazing gift and you go and do this! Words cannot express how elated I, my roommate, and soon my wife will be about this. Not only that, but it looks like it was their personal copy which just makes it all so much more special. Thank you Secret Santa, you have made this an incredible first Secret Santa for me and it just makes me want to really try to do even more in future years. I hope that someday I can be as generous as you have been to me.

Also included, which my wife will be ecstatic about, were some cards for Quarriors which look to be promos for the "Ghost of Christmas Past, Present, and Future!" We haven't played Quarriors in a while and were just talking about how we wanted to play again soon!

Oh man...I just need a moment to contain myself. Well, I know what we are playing on Christmas/New Years!

Not only did my Secret Santa send my top requested game, Friedrich, he also amazingly enough added in two more big requests on my wishlist:

Hansa Teutonica

and

Ingenious

Between Friedrich and Hansa Teutonica, I'm pretty sure I received the most beautiful-looking games in this exchange.

What a day! My husband livetweeted the box's arrival.

Leslie just got three boardgames in the mail from her boardgamegeek secret santa and she is losing her MIND with excitement.

"I'm so excited I wish I had some lemonade to celebrate!" She loves lemonade.

When she opened up these maps she swooned.

She literally put the back of her hand to her forehead and swooned.

She's unconscious now. There's a gossamer cocoon growing over her body. My wife as I knew her is no more.

Thank you to my not-so-secret Santa, for making my first exchange so much fun. This interaction has already brought me so much glee, and I know that my family will enjoy these games for many years.

I got home today and had a package slip from the post office. Luckily the postman was parked a few houses up the street and still had my packages in his truck.

4 boxes were expected, but the 5th was mysterious. I tore it open and was greeted with a brand new copy of jungle speed I hadn't ordered.

Thanks so much SS!

Santa struck again last night.

And for some reason, I didn't take a picture of the actual box, but here is the gallery image of Article 27: The UN Security Council Game:

My brother was confused at first when I said it was a game about the UN, but this one has been in my sights for a while, and I'm very excited to get my friends together to play this. The same folks I play The Resistance with were also in Model UN, so this should go over very well with my game group.

I'm actually several days late with posting this, as my package was delivered way back on Tuesday! Just had a few busy days lately at work and then painting and installing crown molding in a bedroom (making up for last weekend when I was at BGG.Con). But big props to my Secret Santa this year! He taunted me like the day after targets were announced by threatening me with different versions of Monopoly, and then proceeded to follow up by telling me that the recession and taxes involved led to him only getting me one small game.

I had a semi-disappointing experience last year, and combined with his manner of typing which led me to believe that he was an international Santa (didn't know if they had to worry about taxes and such when ordering things for us here in the States) - I bought his story hook, line, and sinker - and prepared for the worst.

And then the box from CSI arrived. It was bigger than I expected. I opened it up, and out came Dominant Species! I was thrilled. But just because I have to make certain, I reached back into those pink packing peanuts again, and out came:

Wow, not only 2 games, but 2 games from high on my wishlist! And not the cheapest ones either!

At this point I decided that I had been tricked, and proceeded to feel in there again just to make certain, and what's this?

An expansion that will allow me to play Cosmic Encounter with even more people!

Santa, you have gone above and beyond my wildest expectations this year! You really set me up well, making me think that I should only be on the lookout for one small game. Wow, thank you again so much, you made my holidays!

DDDDDDDDDDDD

Well, Santa, I see you set up cameras and listening devices in my home! The last couple of weeks I've been wandering around telling people that I really should have purchased Kingdom Builder in Essen. I played it there and really enjoyed it. I've been looking for it here for a while. Well, just before Thanksgiving, I received a box from Game Surplus that I opened and saw it was from you, my Secret Santa! Inside was Kingdom Builder! Wow, what a surprise! And then I thought...hmmm...how did he know I was asking and talking about this very game recently. Do we have a mole? Is Secret Santa someone in my family? Did my friend get assigned? Hmmm...probably not, I guess that your super power. Anyway, I also received a little cool silver metal hand first player chooser. It spins forever! How cool...

Well, anyway, I took it out of the box and carried it and a couple of papers from the box up to the game room and tossed the empty box in the garage (it was raining so I didn't want to go out to the trashcan.)

When I got upstairs and started looking at it, I noticed that a sheet of paper came with it...instructions for how to play Hanabi. What? I was confused... then it hit me! I ran downstairs and dug through all the packing paper (it was packed well!) and joile! Another game - Hanabi! Another game I wished I had bought in Essen! So cool.

The Kingdom Builder got immediate play this weekend and even though I lost, can't wait to get it out again soon!

Thank you, Santa! Generous, fast and accurate!

There was only one problem... Thanksgiving! The mail wouldn't run Thursday OR Friday!!! soblue So, I tried to push my present out of my mind and focus on eating as much as possible on Thursday. Then Friday, I went out with my brother for some driving lessons (learning to drive a stick... I'm real bad at it!) to keep my mind off of it.

Then... finally, it was Saturday at last! I was bursting with excitement, my boyfriend, Justin kept telling me that I wasn't going to get my present until Monday so I better calm down, but I just knew that Santa would come through! I spent all day cleaning the house in a nervous frenzy waiting on the mail to run... which isn't until 3:00!

When 3:00 finally got here, I ran down to the mailbox, half expecting it to be empty, but NO! There was a key inside to open the package box! So I grabbed it and opened the mailbox, and there it was... the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen... a brown box with the return address of Miniature Market. I snatched it up and ran back to the house!

Sadly, I wasn't allowed to open the present until Justin got off work (at 4) so I texted him to let him know that it had arrived and then ripped the box open because Santa had told me the presents would be wrapped... although, I was nervous that they wouldn't be so I made my sister check inside to be sure before I took them out. And this is what I found inside...

And here's another picture with our (little tiny) Christmas tree...

4:00 finally rolls around...Noah and I are waiting anxiously for Justin to get here so we can open the presents... then 4:15... then 4:30... Justin works about 3 minutes from my house, he should be here. Noah tells me to call him, so I do. He claimed to have not gotten my text and was out of town with his mom! Noah starts crying. I finally get him calmed down and we wait. Finally, Justin gets here and Noah calls dibs on opening the presents...

I let him open the longer, thinner one first because I was pretty sure I knew what it was and...

I was right! It was eriomirG, also known as Grimoire!!! I have been wanting this game for so long and now I finally have it! I am so thrilled and I can't wait to play it! Thank you so much, Santa!

Then, it was time to open the other gift. I thought that I knew what this one was...

But I was wrong! It was Sentinels of the Multiverse! It was such a wonderful surprise! I squealed like a little pig when I saw what it was! Santa really did his homework, because I have been wanting both of these games so bad! They were both in my top 10 most wanted games!

This was my first year doing Secret Santa, and I must say that I have been very blessed. I had a WONDERFUL target who responded to all my messages and gave me information on his family and I had just such an amazing time buying gifts them. And on top of that, I also have an AMAZING Santa who has been keeping me updated the whole time, asking me questions about myself and Noah so that he could pick out great gifts for us. And he has! I am so so so so happy with my presents, and I know that when Noah gets his special surprise in the mail he will just be over the moon. I can't thank Santa and his family enough for making this a truly amazing experience for me this year! I feel so very lucky and I am just DYING to play my new games! Sadly, I will have to wait... hopefully just until tomorrow night though. At least I can read the rulebooks.

Thank you so much, Santa for working so hard to make sure we have such a great Christmas! I hope that you and your family have a Santa that is as awesome as you guys have been to us! And I hope that you have a very Merry Christmas!

(I will update this entry with more info when Noah gets his present!)

Update:

GotSanta's gifts for Noah, but there were so many that I just added a new entry. Go here to see: Item for Geeklist "2012 Edition of Look What My Secret Santa sent me..."

Received a package from my Secret Santa yesterday which included expansions for two of my favorite games, Stone Age and Race for the Galaxy!

Race for the Galaxy: Rebel vs Imperium

He also included a 'bonus just for me & the wife on a cold, snowy and wintery day'...

Lord of the Rings: The Duel

(Unfortunately, I think either he got a little confused or is a super-secret time-travelling Santa...my girlfriend and I aren't married.)

He also noted that there might be one last gift in it for me if I show everyone here how much I want to be on the good list. Therefore, I'm reading and thumbing every post on this GeekList, and wishing every single* person reading this a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and a swell any-other-holiday-you-want!

Thanks Santa!

*as well as the married ones, I suppose

EDIT: Santa came through with his promise of 'one last gift'! I got in the mail yesterday an envelope with a hand-written note and a handful of Magic: The Gathering cards; a playset of Lotus Petal, a Revised Birds of Paradise, and a Dust Bowl! Thanks again to my Santa!

Turns out my gift got here yesterday, but I did not notice it until going to work this morning. Setting the box inside my house I went to work where I enjoyed an 8 hour long day at a sandwich shop where I had a total of 5 customers all day... let's just say I got some good reading in. All the while I was wondering what was in the box. I got home and needed to entertain guests until about an hour ago when I finally examined the box.

Not seeing any signs that I should not open it I then did so and, being careful not to spill packing peanuts all over the place, grabbed this gem out of the box. There was also some gift code slip for something on CollStuffInc that I will check out later, I am guessing promo shipping or something.

I was excited and humbled by just how valuable this gift was with a list price double the required value for the exchange and felt a little guilty that I just barely met the minimum with my own target. That passed quickly enough and I raced around the house with the box causing my dogs to go crazy and chase after me. After that subsided and the pups settled down I opened the box and perused the goodies.

Check out that pretty box!!!

Readin' dem rulez...

All in all I was very happy. It is Austin approved.

I am going by the hobby shop after church later today to pick up some glue and paints and see if I can get everything ready to play by my regular game group time of this coming Tuesday. Thank you very much Secret Santa!!! I was having a kind of depressing week but a nice Thanksgiving and the gift of a brand new game I have really wanted has greatly brightened my mood and I sincerely appreciate it. (I don't have a camera, so cell phone pictures had to be sufficient.)

Oh Secret Santa, you have made and the fellow geeks of my house SO happy! Just got my package today, and there's a lovely copy of Android: Netrunner waiting for me.

And on top of that, my bestest Santa included a fantastic copy of BSG: Exodus, allowing me to crank that game up to its truly most delicious level.

From me, and the other geeks here, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

For my first BGG Secret Santa, I received a copy of Dominant Species, which was a Must Have for me, so you did good Santa, real good.

And for me, this was more than just a wish list item. With two youngsters at home (5 and 7), most of my gaming dollars goes towards family-friendly titles, so even though I've wanted DS for quite some time now, the length and complexity has convinced me to sit tight on this one for awhile. But Santa saw through the family-man facade, and came through with a game that I truly wanted but was unwilling to buy myself. So thank you again, Santa!

So I got home on Friday and found I had a package waiting for me from Amazon, and somewhat bemused about what I had ordered and then forgotten about I found this inside...

Awesome!I've heard good things about it and can't wait to try it out. However so far I've had to restrict myself to swooping the little x-wing around making spaceship noises.

So that was pretty cool.

But even better the next day another box turned up. Expecting it to be the Ugg-tect I ordered, instead I found Android: Netrunner inside! Thanks Santa, you're awesome. I love me some cyber-punk and Netrunner sounds fantastic.

This is a pretty serious Fantasy Flight love-in.

Now I all have to do is lock my flatmate in the house and not let him leave until we've played both of these games. I'm looking forward to it!

Whoosh!
