Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

My wife called me at work this morning to let me know a box had arrived! Got home for lunch and found that Santa's elves had delivered a box from Cool Stuff Inc. I opened it per instructions received from my Santa and discovered Stone Age packed inside. We have loved this game since the first time we played it but had never gotten the opportunity to buy it. Thanks Santa! But, just as we were finishing our celebration of how awesome our Santa was we discovered that there were other things hiding in the box... horrible things...

Munchkin Zombies had stowed away in the box as well! After we dealt with that miniature zombie apocalypse I was just getting ready to toss the box when another surprise was found hiding in the pink packing peanuts of safety that had protected my gift on its journey...

a +6 Bag O' Munchkin Level Counters to help fight the zombie scourge, and presumably help with other munchkiny encounters as well!

Lastly, at the very bottom of the box, was a Cool Stuff Inc gift certificate they sent along since this was for Boardgamegeek's secret santa!

Thanks so much Santa!

Santa has been!

Santa has been!

Arrived home today and a shiny red Christmassy parcel was waiting for me.
I prepared to tear it open and it was whisked away from me by the boyfriend who said
"Santa didn't say you could open it." soblue
My counter point of "Santa didn't say I couldn't open it" fell upon deaf ears... and so it sits in its shiny red Christmassy paper.

If Santa is reading this please let me open it.

Edit:

Santa let me open it and its awesome.... Ark and Noah and a bag of wooden components for it too!

Thank you Santa, I wish you a very merry Christmas and I hope your Santa is as awesome as you have been

Dear Santa,

Packages arrived, and I got very excited and just had to open them when I got home from work.

Nice shiny new expansion for space alert and both of the recent Cosmic Encounter Expansions.

Very Generous and I hope to be able to pay it forward with my target. (Been a bit busy, as always is the case at the end of the year, isnt it?) Looking forward to getting these to the table, and the extra expansions incentives as I've been looking for a game to hold more players.

Thank you very much, and may everyones Holiday season be wonderful!

Last Friday, I found a note from the postman saying I had a package to pick up. That was either a large box filled with games from a kickstarter bundle, or the gift from Secret Santa (which I was told was on it's way)

On Monday I picked the box up and let somebody else open it to see if the contents were wrapped. They were!

Yeay!!! Santa Goodness!!!
There was a card which I stopped reading after it told me it contained spoilers... There was also a 10% discount coupon for my next order at spelshop.be ! Yeay!!!

I'm pretty sure that there are two boxes in the package. I'm quite curious what they are. The box-size filters out some items on my whishlist, but I have a big list, so I won't hurt my brain trying to figure out what could be in the wrapping.

The package is smiling at me from an audio speaker in front of my sofa, it will be moved under the Christmas tree as soon as it's there and will be opened on the 24th of December.

Thank you very, very much!

[EDIT 28/12/12]

Look what I got!!!

High Frontier

and

Rex: Final Days of an Empire

That is just wonderful!! Thank you Santa! I try to get them on the table as soon as I can!

There was also a 10% gift certificate that I allready used to place an order with spelshop.be

Great! Wonderful! Thanks Santa!

My Secret Santa came through for me today!!!

Unfortunately, due to his strict confidentiality agreement, I am unable to specify exactly what Santa gave to me.

However, rest assured that I am extremely pleased with his choice.

Excellent gift, Santa! You made me very happy!

Yes, Secret Santa, yes!!!

My santa, through his friendly elf, Sven, has been pretty active taunting me over the last couple of weeks or so. At the weekend, I received a parcel from www.boardgameguru.co.uk and imagine my surprise when I saw what was inside:

The message on the card simply read “From your USA Secret Santa”. Well, whoever you are, thank you so much for your generosity. I will be really excited when I break open the wrapping paper on 25th December.

UPDATE: Christmas day has now come and gone and I eagerly tore open the wrapping paper of my three parcels to reveal the following great choices of game.

Thanks ever so much, Secret Santa. I shall really enjoy playing these in the near future.

I arrived home from work today and lo and behold I had a UPS Package waiting for me in my office. I excitedly tore the box open and discovered not one, but two awesome games that were on my wishlist. Also included was a hand drawn picture commemorating my 18+ years of Naval experience as well as my first BGG Secret Santa!!

Sentinels Of The Multiverse: Enhanced Edition

Looking forward to learning this game with my 10 year old son!!

Thanks again, Secret Santa...you're the best!! Merry Christmas to all!!

The game was taxed =/ so I had to pay R$ 92 (U$ 46)...
Anyway, I was so exited with the deliver that I opened right there in the postal office. To find a stone age, and the box was really light, then I got depressed, I had to pay 46 dollars for receiving a game that costs 30... I walked all the way to the car thinking on how I had lost money by participating in the SS, and that maybe next year I shouldn't be as generous...

And then when I got to the car I took the stone age from the box, and it still fell heavy... So I kept searching and found: Stone Age: The Expansion !! the I couldn't wait to get to my house to sleeve everything, and separate it in the ziplocks that came with the game (by the way, way to go Rio Grande Games, I thought this was a nice touch).

I still lost money in this SS, but the satisfaction in my targets posts when he received his gift was priceless, so I'll be here next year!

Wow. Totally speechless...

First off, I had to ask Santa to let me know an ETA on the gift, because our delivery drivers sometimes get lazy and drop stuff off at the apartment complex office. No real pattern to when they do it, but just out of the blue a box won't show up at our apartment when the tracking # says delivered...

So of course, I hear from Santa well after our office closed last night that the box had been delivered (forgot to mention, they suck at notifying you that you have a box left for you there.). Sigh. Oh well, I'll get my goodies after work...

So my son went over and picked the box up. I told my wife to open it if she wanted to, but not tell me what was in it. Apparently she did, but decided to wrap them for me .

So I get home, and the kids seem a bit too excited about them. Mom told them not to tell me she wrapped them (I did recognize the paper though, although my kids would be awful poker players...), but again, the kids were acting odd. I opened the smallest box, not really sure what to expect...

Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game

Wow. I am a huge Star Wars fan, and had bee eyeing these, but knew the dark path that minis can lead, so I had avoided it till now. The kids will love this too. Great choice Santa!

On to the next box...

Airlines Europe

Another brilliant pick! This is one of my Wife's favorite games, and for some reason, I miss out on playing it whenever our game group brings it out, so I had avoided picking it up so far. She is so happy about this one .

One last box. I think I have a guess of what it is, but how crazy must Santa be? There is no way this is one of my personal favorites, and a family favorite that I sold off for some emergency cash earlier this year (We had a family tragedy that I won't get into here on late 2011, and friends were making me good offers for some of my games, so I sold a bunch.). It's the right size for the new edition though...

Descent: Journeys in the Dark (Second Edition)

Wow. I am struck speechless. Descent is one of my all time favorites, and I have been avoiding even reading about the new edition because I knew I'd feel the urge to buy it ASAP. I have heard good things from the game group members who have played it though.

It's almost like Santa knows us. I didn't even have the SW Mini's that high on my wishlist (or at least I didn't think I did, maybe I'm mistaken.). These were the perfect games for us, and way too many of them .

Thank you very much Santa, whomever & wherever you are...

I received a pick up slip that I had a damaged package at the post office from Australia waiting for pick up!!! YEAH Secret Santa Time!!

But what this damaged stuff surprise I head to the post office hand the pretty lady my pickup slip and she disappears and comes back with a box that was beat to smithereens! cry I can only imagine the horrors that lay within..... She smiles and says looks like this one had a rough ride! grrrrr robot

She explains to me that I should open it there so that if I have to make a claim of damages or missing items it will be verified.. what ever that means. I think she just want to see what was in the box

Opening the box revealed a very good packing Secret Santa, as nothing was damaged and all items were accounted for, as per the nice letter inside.

Wow...Santa went above and beyond this year! I feel like I say that every year I love being a part of the BGG Secret Santa - every time, I am just blown away by the generosity of the BGG community. This year was no different.

Near the start of this Geeklist, I already posted the first teasers my Santa sent me:
Zombie Dice

Zombie Dice 2: Double Feature

Today, as I was going out for a run, I found a sizable package from CoolStuffInc on my doorstep. I moved it inside and forced myself to wait until I finished my run and shopping to open it up.

Inside: packing peanuts! Awesome! I added them to my peanut box. Everyone should have a peanut box.

And would you believe there were board games in there, too? Games like:
Android: Netrunner

Uncharted: The Board Game

Eclipse

This is just fantastic. I'm going to have very happy gaming in 2013! I'm especially excited about Uncharted: my wife is a huge Uncharted fan, but not a huge gamer. (It's not like she can't handle big games; we've played Twilight Imperium together before) So I'm hoping Uncharted: The Board Game will help us spend some time around the gaming table together!

NOT ACTUALLY ALHAMBRA: BIG BOX.

Well, okay, it could be, but I don't know. I knew a package was coming thanks to Santa's messages. I came home today and a really, really big box was waiting on my doorstep. Wow, Santa, I am super curious about it! But I am fighting the good fight. I am going to hold out until Christmas to open it -- I'll have my wife open the box and see if the inner stuff needs to be wrapped.

I am really stoked to find out what my super-generous Secret Santa put into this gigantic box! Thanks, Santa!

EDIT: The wife opened up the package and wrapped up the contents for me. Wow -- four games?! That is unbelievably generous! Santa also threw in a Spin-4-it. Useful! Here's what it all looks like:

Wow, Santa, this is just too nice! He mentioned he'd like to see me write more reviews. Consider it done! I'll at least review these new ones as soon as I can get them to the table. And Santa, keep an eye on my profile for a few Ubuntu tips in the near future.

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the generosity on display. Is it too late to sign up to give gifts to someone who misses out on the first round?

EDIT 2:

My crazy Santa just sent another BIG box of games. I am keeping it all closed up until Christmas so my poor wife doesn't have to wrap more games!

EDIT 3:

wowwowwow

The wife and I just got back from seeing my family for pre-Christmas, and since we have a full day of stuff planned tomorrow with her family, I decided now was finally the time to open up my Secret Santa loot.

I can only assume that Santa Claus has completely lost his mind.

I started with the four gifts in the first box that Santa sent me. First up was Fleet, a game I have been hearing a lot about and eying with much interest. Wow!

Next I opened up The Princes of Florence! Wow wow wow! This is only the best game I have played that I don't own. I LOVE this game. I've only played it once, but it was an instant favorite. I am so looking forward to getting this one out as frequently as possible with both of my groups. If these two games had been my entire take from this year's Secret Santa, I would consider myself lucky and blessed to have such a generous and thoughtful Santa. But no, the fun was just beginning!

Next was Power Grid! Another classic game that I absolutely adore, which is a conspicuous gap in my collection. My smaller group hasn't played Power Grid, and I think it's going to be absolutely perfect for them. WOW.

And the final gift in the first (that's right, just the *first*) box was 7 Wonders. *!&#*&$@*&!@!!!!!! Santa couldn't have picked better. Again, this is perfect for my smaller group; they're all Magic players and I know they are going to love the draft mechanism. We can definitely use more fast-playing games in that group too.

So, wow! wow x1000! And this was only the first box!

I opened up the next box and the first thing that jumped out was Nemo's War. Cool! I've had this game on my wishlist for a long time, ever since I learned it was designed by the designer of Fallout (possibly my favorite game of all time). I'm also happy to finally have a game that's really designed for solitaire play. Santa really dug deep on my list to pull this one out, and it's a great pick.

Next I saw a big bag with something small in it ... it was a D&D miniature of a Dwarf Samurai. Cool! A little more digging and two more of the short guys showed up -- two Reaper dwarf miniatures. Santa must have somehow sleuthed that I like the bearded fellas. What he probably didn't know (although he seems to have some weird ESP, so maybe he did) is that I used to paint miniatures pretty regularly and I just the other day mentioned to my wife that I want to start again. Well I guess I don't have any excuses now!

There were three more wrapped items in this box. I dug in greedily and unwrapped Chaos in the Old World: The Horned Rat Expansion. Sweet! That will make Chaos in the Old World much more playable with both of my groups (five is sort of a magic number of players, in my opinion). Next came San Juan, the card game version of my favorite board game of all time. Wow, awesome! And finally, out came Samurai, an absolute classic that fills an important gap in my collection. It's not the sort of game I play a lot, but having played it on my phone, I know that it will be an awesome challenge and will stretch the way I think!

Jeez Santa, I don't have enough hands to encompass your generosity!

I am absolutely blown away. I'd say I'm speechless, but I've written too much to make that claim. I have enough games here to keep me going for years; literally years. You are just too awesome, Santa! Whoever you are, your friends and family are lucky to have such a generous person in their lives.

EDIT 4: changed parent item to a game I actually got, corrected edit #s, and added game images.

Woot! Santa came through huge! He contacted me and said it was up to me whether I waited til Christmas or not, so of course I cracked and had to open them all immediately.

I've had Lords of Vegas on my wish list for a while. No idea why I didn't already own it... great game! And of course completing my Summoner Wars collection was a must.

Thanks Santa!

Here are some pics of my son doing the honors.

I got my package in today. After the initial taunt from my SS, I admit I was a tiny bit concerned about what I would find. The games were wrapped, so I could wait almost 4 weeks to see what I got or get an early start on Christmas. The early start won

Not only did I get Dixit Quest but I also received For Sale

A great start to what I hope to be a game filled Christmas.

Thank you Secret Santa!

Looks like I almost made the naughty list for opening presents early. I've got one more present all the way from the North Pole! It's under the tree and waiting for the 25th.

Thanks again Santa!

Yesterday evening after coming home from work I told my wife that my Santa had contacted me the day before to say that I was on the nice list and my gift was on its way She then told me it is sitting in the spare room! surprise

But.. she said I had to wait because she has to wrap it! Turns out that my Santa had been in contact with her and had asked her to wrap the gift for me. But, also told her that I didn't have to wait and could open it.

It was sitting there just waiting to get opened, and just as I was about to, Izzy decided to see what was up!

I quickly opened the gift and found...

I am very happy with my gift Merchants & Marauders has been on my wishlist for awhile now and for some reason it always seemed to get passed over by other games when it was time to purchase something. So thank you very much Santa for getting me this game! I am excited to play it.

After a couple of days out on business, I was alerted that a package arrived for me! After receiving a mysterious and slightly ominous taunt, I was delighted to see that Santa had sent me Chicago Express and the Narrow Gauge Expansion!
I'm totally stoked to try this one out, and even further excited that my wife was interested as well to give it a spin (super-rare and awesome!). Thanks for your kindness Santa, and may you also have a wonderful Christmas!!

This year I've had Santa poetical
His use of rhymes is not theoretical
In geekmail they came, to be quickly read
Festively colored in bright green and red
My rhymed responses were quite pathetical

But, Santa saw fit to send me gifts anyway! So, I have my first two wrapped presents of the season, waiting for a tree.

Thanks Santa!

[Edit: I did open at Christmas, and what did I see?
Three awesome games were delivered to me!

Lords of Waterdeep
Death Angel and
Bottle Imp!

Thanks Secret Santa!]

My wife and I are the perfect holiday storm in that be both go overboard on the gift giving while we both tend to spend great deals of time shaking, snooping, and seeking out presents. We've learned we have to enact certain... protocol... around the holiday season when it comes to packages arriving on the doorstep, the least of which is simply knowing when something is slated to arrive. So needless to say, when we arrived home tonight after an afternoon hike we both had a thrill in seeing a large box on the stoop that quickly turned to panic as we both realized that neither of us knew what was inside, and therefore who was allowed to open it.

suddenly we were at holiday defcon: gumdrop!!

So we began the data sweep; checking orders, calling friends and family, etc. in an attempt to ID the box, but nothing turned up, leaving only two options: 1) one of us made a big holiday blunder or 2) secret santa was here! So for about twenty minutes we stared at the box trying to use our non x-ray vision to see through the clearly opaque box and hoping that we wouldn't have to enact Plan Z (which is to get the neighbors to give a peek inside). I won't admit who cracked first... but we finally dove in and out came:

Note the awesome custom art by Mrs. Claus herself!!! A seriously special Christmas treat in addition to a game that I have been wishing, wishing, wishing for!

Thank you very much Santa, to both you and Mrs. Claus for making this geek very happy this holiday. A very Merry Christmas to you both!

Good times.

Santa sent me a message a few days ago confirming his existence and my status on the "good boy" list. He indicated that he had picked out something fun for me, and under the insistence of Mrs. Claus, decided not to keep it for himself and instead sent it along. Today, I found a package waiting for me on the doorstep!

I had every intention of placing the goodies under the tree and enduring the harangues of the less stalwart crowd until Christmas - Or rather, I was actually planning on opening the goodies on my Birthday, which is December 22nd, as a little treat - but when I cracked open the parcel, I found the contents inside unwrapped. So, without further ado, allow me to present the fruits of Santa's generosity!

- Space Cadets
- Space Cadets Promo Pack
- Limited Edition Space Cadets Blue/Gray Ship Miniatures
- Oz Fluxx
- ...and one very chipper snowman

Thank you very much, Santa! Space Cadets is hot off the presses, so you must have pre-order elves in all the right places. Huge bonus points to you for satiating my horrible "completionist" streak right out of the gates by including all of the promo content and bonus goodies; it is greatly appreciated. Believe it or not, I've never actually tried any of the Fluxx games, but I am sure I'll have fun giving it a try. My young nephews have recently mastered UNO and are champing at the bit for the next great diversion from their video games. I think you've just empowered me to become a holiday entertainment hero!

Oh, and I've got just the spot for that snowman

Lastly, after all of the fun I've had with my own international SS target, I decided to put on my (very poor) detective hat to see from where in the world you might hail. Here's what I've discovered:

You're ONE of those dots! Uhhh... it seems that my profile has more legs than I anticipated. Still, as a final gift, you've unintentionally turned me on to the wacky fun of digital globetrotting and flag collecting, so cheers to you!

And thanks to Mrs. Claus for making sure this got shipped

tl;dr version: Thank you, Santa! You rock.
