Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

I was very excited to receive my gift today! There was no doubt in my mind I was opening it. I was even more thrilled to get Jaipur and a $5 gift certificate from cool stuff inc! I was confused when I opened war of the ring expansion however. It looks cool but I don't own the game, so as of now I have no use for it. Now I have to decide what I should do with it. I guess I was too naughty this year.cry

Wow was I floored. At first there was a little friendly taunting from my SS and then a message letting me know my package was waiting for me at my post office. So I went today to pick it up and was surprised by not one but 3 wonderfully wrapped gifts.

I couldn't wait so I opened them up and found Legendary along with

Lords of Waterdeep

And

Train of Thought

Simply amazing... thanks ever so much secret Santa!!

Add me to the long list of first time BGG Secret Santa participants. I thoroughly enjoyed all the anticipation. I haven't experienced anything like that in ages. Never heard a peep outta my Santa and for a while, I felt a little taunt-deprived after listening to people go on and on about all the messages they received, yada-yada-yada. But Santa delivered!! The mystery ended for me today. Santa dispatched his ninja UPS elves to drop a CSI package at my doorstep today. I knew immediately what it was. I ripped into that sucker in no time flat!! Past the ocean of pink peanuts, I fished out an unwrapped copy of Seasons--a PERFECT game for my husband and me. Thank you so much, Secret Santa. Excellent choice! In addition, I received the $5 gift certificate from those devils at CSI devil and I'm already contemplating my next order.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

I wish you all a joyous and memorable holiday season. This was my first year on the Geek and I want to thank you all for making this such a welcoming and enjoyable place for me to spend hours (and HOURS) of my time. Here's to doing more of the same in 2013!

When I got home from work today I had a package sitting on the front porch. It had a label indicating that despite all impressions, Santa does indeed come from Italy and shops at Sci-Fi City.

During our previous correspondence Santa acknowledges that I am a space geek. He clearly kept with that theme. As I eagerly opened the the package I found:

Star Trek Deck Building Game: The Next Generation

Noting that the box was still quite heavy I filtered through the packing peanuts and found:

Star Trek: Expeditions

Grazie mille Santa! This is great timing with the teaser trailer for Star Trek: Into the Darkness just coming out. (A few seconds of extra footage in the Japanese Trailer.)

I came home to a happy surprise today, I ran to the doorstep and ripped open the box like a giddy little school boy. And to my surprise, I found not one but two FANTASTIC gifts!

Memoir '44

As you can imagine, I've had my eye on this one since I started collecting board games, but it was always just outside my reach since it was oop. My 8 yr old is also already salivating over it! Thank you Santa!!!!

Small World Underground

My wife always says that the best gifts are those things that you truly want, but for one reason or another would never buy for yourself. For me, that is Small World Underground. I've desperately wanted it to add to my base game, but like most expansions I thought it would be too excessive. I AM SO EXCITED TO BREAK THIS OUT!!!

Thanks again Santa! You made this year extra special for me and your generosity is much appreciated!!!

Haven't yet opened my gift (although my fiancé peeked and said it wasn't on my wishlist), but the box is big and it sounds like it's got a lot of pieces.

But besides that, I've been getting a deposit of geekgold in my account every day of December. 1 on the first, 2 on the second, etc. with no signs of stopping! I don't know if this is gonna continue for just the first 12 days of December, or for the advent calendar, or even the whole month. Either way, I've got the best Santa EVER!

Thanx so much, Santa!

Edit: After 12 days of GeekGold, I opened the the large box on Christmas to find....Jumanji. shake

But upon further exploration of the game, Santa had inserted Labyrinth: The War on Terror, 2001 - ? INSIDE the game box! Best gift ever. Thanx again, Santa!

My Santa said I could open early but I decided to wait... until, other people asked me what I may want!!!

I was torn but weak and gave in to the temptation and the fear of duplicate games.

I could feel my pulse quicken as I opened the first box, "Mage Wars" I have wanted this game since I heard about it and can't wait to play.

Then I opened my second gift,"Dixit Odyssey". My family loves Dixit and my 7 year old daughter loves the game.

Thank you Secret Santa, every time I play either of these games I will remember you and think about the fun that this gift exchange offers to all participants.

UPDATE: It was The Great Zimbabwe! I am over the Moon and cannot wait to play it. I'll have to wait until 2013, when we resume our game nights, but at least I'll have read the rules and bagged all the bits.

This was a very generous Santa! Thank you so very much!

--------------------------------------------------------------------

On Thursday I received one of those famous parcels from Shire games that contain chocolate and a discount voucher and, well, hopefully a game!

I asked my wife to open it in order to check if it was wrapped. I was assuming it would as it was coming from a shop recommended by BGG and it was.

My wife kept teasing me into unwrapping the game, but I have always waited till Christmas to do so.

My initial reaction when seeing just one game was disappointment. I always give at least two games to my target and my secret santas have always given me more than one. However, the unusual box shape hinted something great, it is totally looking like the most expensive item on my wishlist, which would make my Santa an amazing and very generous Santa.

Yesterday I took my family to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park (which was great!), and I kept talking and talking about how amazing it would be if it really was that game and I was imagining in my head playing the game and strategies and everything.

So huge thank you to my secret Santa!!!

I'll update when I open it on Christmas day.

Yesterday, when i was at work, i got a call from a DHL courier, who had a parcel for me. Of course i instantly got courius an soon got a confirmation, it was indeed from my Secret Santa.

Inside, there was nicely giftwrapped present, that seemed like it could contain two games. Since i had not recieved any warnings from my Santa to not open the present before Christmas, i soon tore it open and saw what was inside.

Firs there was Goblins Inc, another great game from Czech Games Edition. We got to try it out at their booth in Essen in october and i have been keeping an eye on it at my local game store.

The second game was something less familiar - Alien Frontiers. It was something i found while looking for interesting games before Secret Sante begun, but i have not played it yet and don't know anyone who already has it. So learning it and getting ready for the first game will be even more exciting!

My Santa has been very mysterious this year, sending me clues to solve. But i have to admit, that i have not been able to solve the last one yet, that could reveal his secret identity. I was sure that i have found the right person frek Klin, but as i found out, i had been wrong. There was another clue with my presents, so i will have to keep guessing

First look after opening the cardboard box:

The gift itself:

And the contents:

Thank you Santa for two great games, i promise to play both of the as soon as possible!

A package arrived and I opened the box to find this...

Not one but two beautifully wrapped gifts and a gift certificate. There were no instructions left to wait until Christmas, so I will likely unwrap everything when I go back home to visit my family next week.

Thank you Secret Santa!!!

UPDATE: I UNWRAPPED THE GAMES THIS SUNDAY AND FOUND TWO OF MY MOST HIGHLY ANTICIPATED GAMES:

AND

I have already played three games of SHCD (3P Cooperatively). We have gotten quite good at it, even beating Sherlock himself (scoring over 100 points) in our last game. This is definitely a new favorite, though slightly worried about what to do once all ten cases are solved...

We have played two 3P games of Fleet. Very tight, fast game. Can definitely see this hit the table frequently solely based upon the deep decisions in such a fast-paced game.

Thank you so very much Secret Santa!!! You gave me two great games that I see being played for a long time!

Last but not least, a big game box was still inside de package. It was Super Dungeon Explore!! I don't need to play videogames anymore, now i have my own videogame experience on a boardgame. And i always wanted trying painting some miniatures, so now is the time. cool

Yesterday our grandchildren where at home for ‘Sinterklaas’. So there was a lot of toys in our house and the kids where out of control. It was at that moment that Secret Santa (the mailman) was at the door with a packet.
When I open the box I find a lot of sweets and biscuits from Poland. Lives Santa in Poland? or is Poland at the North Pole? I was confused!
Then I find 2 beautifully wrapped boxes. Can I open it now or must I wait till Christmas??? Later that day I received a message from Santa to ask if I was satisfied with the new games. Problem solved, it is admitted to open the boxes!

I find two games: K2 Broad Peak and Race for the Galaxy and I am very happy with these. I find K2 a very cool game and this expansion will certainly played many times. Race for the Galaxy is new for my but I love challenges.
The grandchildren loved the biscuits and the candies they got from Sinterklaas were suddenly no longer interesting.

So, thank you Secret Santa. Every time when I play either of these games I will remember you.
Merry Christmas

I got two packages from my Santa with an email to open them immediately! Yesterday we got an expansion for the Game of Thrones LCG which we are just starting to get into. I definitely plan on making a direwolf deck for my wife to play. It also came with a $5 certificate to MM which we will probably put towards either the Martell house expansion.

Today I got another package! This one contained 2 games. A printed out copy of solo-castle defense game using a deck of standard playing cards. Also a nice heavy box with Galaxy Trucker! I was so excited. It has been high on my list of games to get for awhile but I've never been able to pull the trigger. It also fills a nice spot in our game cabinet since we have very few real-time games. I can't wait to play! I was jumping up and down!

THANKS SO MUCH SS! I HAVE YOUR ADDRESS AND WILL BE TRYING TO TRACK YOU DOWN NOW!

Look what my Santa sent me! It arrived just today.

I had this game on my wishlist for long, it almost vanished out of my sight. Now, it´s full frontal in my view again. And it is indeed my style of game!

BUT, my Santa wrote, that this is only "to sweeten my waiting"... wow

Now,... what can i say. I´m super excited to receive another classy product for christmas.
(Pst,... ninja I think it will be a very very new game with innovative mechanics, something like Monopoly but with ponies and hex-fields!!!)

Another fun fact: My Santa is also, as me, an avid "Fawlty Towers"-Fan. We had quite some humorous correspondence, quoting from the best series in the history of tv.

For now, i just have to say Thank you Santi!

P.S.: No, no, no, it´s celery, apples, walnuts, grapes!

EDIT from 21.02.2013:

Yay! The main gift is finally here!

It was not a problem to wait for this superb item, as my Santa informed me that there is another gem in the preorder-waiting-pipeline. Later he informed me 'what' a gem it will be. So, there was no surprise left.
But nevertheless, as everyone can imagine, i am very thankful for these two awesome gifts!

THANKYOU! That was very, very generous!

After some initial messages from Santa asking if I was done tinkering with my wishlist (never!) I got one more taunt strongly hinting that Escape was on its way. I was thrilled! I had the chance to play Escape a few times already and it's so much fun!

What I wasn't expecting was EXPANSION MADNESS also included in the box:

As I'm sitting in a refugee camp in Rwanda, Africa, coordinating water and sanitation, about 4000 km away, this was soooooooo tickling/frustrating. I will return home in the middle of January and until then my parcel has to spend its days, lonely in the postal office. Cant't wait until I'm home. :-)

Thank you my secret Santa for one more thing too look forward too.

AND NOW, 2013-01-19 I'm home and have opened my gifts.
Ora et Labora (Pray and work, if I remember my latin) was waiting for me, and as an extra bonus, from the green haired (how appropriate) designer Friedmann Friese

Both well worth waiting for. Thank you, my secret friend.

My Santa sent me note earlier this week, I was pleased as he'd been silent until after I'd sent my own Santa parcels off! Was wondering if he might be the completely silent type!

So yesterday, my wife texted me to let me know an Amazon parcel had arrived.
"Is it bigger than a single volume Bible commentary" (the only other delivery I was expecting from said supplier), I asked.
"Not sure," she replied.

But yes, yes it is. and there's a bit of a rattle, like stuff shuffling around in a tightly packed box.
I'll be waiting until the big day, otherwise I'll never convince my kids to do the same with all the presents they receive early.

EDIT 19/12/2012
Woo! It's Merchants and Marauders, a game sure to go down well with a few old er family members and at club.
Convinced myself that this Thursday would be last chance before mid-January to play a game at club, and I might need to read up on rules if I'm expecting people to play at Christmas. So I opened it last night, had a quick rules-refresher playthrough on my own, and am raring to go for Thursday and CHristmas now. Thanks so much Santa, great gift!

Thanks Santa!

Santa!

Thank you for the generous bounty of Christmas goodness!

My wife and I are going to play with the St. Pete expansion tonight, and I can't wait to get home to Ohio and give The Resistance a go with my family. Primordial Soup will hopefully go over with my brothers and sisters who have degrees in the biological sciences.

Thanks again for a great present!

This morning, as snow began to fall, a FedEx truck appears and backs up into my driveway. Huh, I think. Now, I'm pretty obsessive about tracking what I order at Christmas, the status of everything I order, and what has and hasn't arrived.

I never ordered from Fedex, so I was curious. Is my mind going? Am I losing my touch?

I thought, Oh No! Did the mail order game house screw up AGAIN (like last year) and send the gift to me instead of my secret santa target? Then it dawns on me... Oh, yeah, *I* get a gift, too!

Sure enough, I see the CoolStuffInc logo and I'm giddy. My son bounds upstairs to see what Im excited about, and we start to open it.

Son: "Um, does mom know you bought *another* game?"

Me: "This is a gift! From my secret santa!"

Son: "It's not Christmas"

Me: "It is for the next five minutes."

So we open it up and there before is Trajan, a game difficult to get in my part of the world, and a glorious, glorious present indeed.

Whoever you are, secret santa, you have been generous and kind and I am very very grateful to you for your gift. Merry Christmas, and God bless you.

Game on!

CHRISTMAS!
mbmbmbmbmb
I'm sincerely impressed with Santa! We received a nice large and unexpected package on the front porch this morning ... but since it was addressed to me, I knew what it meant.
It meant my wife had to check the contents! Wrapped? Unwrapped? Could I peek? NO.

Then my wife told me that I'd best go ahead and open it, so that there would be no whining about the waiting until Christmas.

Santa, thank you. THANK YOU. and my daughter thanks you as well

We'll be putting this on the table as soon as possible.

Oooh, and just in time for the Hobbit movies too.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
