Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

Small World Realms

For Sale

That's right, awesome. Small World: Realms and For Sale!

I may not have any cute pets to put in my gift photo like some others here, but I can guarantee you that no amount of furry critters will compare with my Christmas joy right now

Thank you Santa!

Oh yeah, I also received a dark knight booster pack from the game Heroclix. I'm guessing this was a gift from starlit citadel (the shipper). I don't play any collectible board or card games anymore, but the thought was nice!

*** UPDATE *** I take everything back about Santa. He's DOUBLE awesome! He asked me to find a new home for the Heroclix booster pack and he sent me a Agricola's CZ Deck and a very nicely hand written letter wishing me the warmest Christmas greetings! Pictures to come soon!

A Big Thank You and Merry Christmas to my Secret Santa!

My Secret Santa was truly amazing this year!. I have made it my goal to try to be as good of Secret Santa as mine was. My Secret Santa set the bar very high. There was so much effort on my Secret Santa's part, I thought I would share with BGG. Below is the collection of Secret Santa Taunts.

---------------

Subject: Project PaxeGift
Ho ho ho!

In case you hadn't noticed, 'tis the season to start the long hard work to make everyone happy!

All the elves are beginning to enter Double Extreme Overtime mode, and I just wanted to take this time to say that wwe at the North Pole haven't forgotten about you!

Moreover though, your wishlist came up with a red flag on the PAGE (Present And Gift Expediting) system. It seems that you have listed many items that you would like, but have labelled them all as "3 - Like to have." I realize that this may be what you intended, but we always like to err on the side of caution, and verify anomalies such as this. In the meantime, please put any responses in your user profile so that your Personal Christmas Elf can address them. You may receive more messages on my behalf from your PCE as well. We do this to ensure that everyone has the very best Christmas they possibly can.

Merry Christmas!

Santa

Subject: Project PaxeGift
Hi Joel!

This is Jay the Elf. Santa has designated me to be your Personal Christmas Expediator (PCE). This means that while Santa is doing his Santoral duties, I will personally be working with you to maximize the enjoyment of the upcoming Christmas holiday.

First, I must update you of a few things regarding how this operation is run. All of our West Coast Elves (WCE) are currently on vacation, scheduled to return to the Pole on 2-Dec.

But do not worry, As your PCE, I have taken the liberty to begin the Christmas delivery proceedings. Our Man in Seattle, Our Man in the Mid-West, and Our Man in Massachusetts have all been notified of the situation and are acting accordingly. However, due to the lack of proper WCEs, there may have been some mis-communication and there may be something or things not on your wishlist in transit somewhere. We may need a day or two to straighten this out, as I certainly don't want you to be getting something that you do not want.

Fear not though, as the fellow geeks who are assisting us with the transaction may or may not be the same one who began this project in the first place, which should keep some uncertainty and mystery of the true nature of your beneficiary. These fellow geeks have been sworn to secrecy until after Christmas.

You should expect the first delivery of your holiday package in the near future, after we have straightened out the situation. After the holiday season has finished, you should receive the Official PCE service & feedback form. Please fill it out and return it to us so that we may continue to improve our level of Christmas service excellence!

Should you require anything further, please do not hesitate to let me know, by updating your profile.

A Very Merry Christmas to you and yours,

Jay the Elf

Merry Christmas!

Jay the Elf here.

The holiday is quickly approaching, which brings both much Joy and much confusion. Unfortunately, the North Pole has been prioritized with confusion.

The elves that are here (and the West Coast Elves are still on vacation) have gone on strike. (They claim they don't get enough vacation time and blame the WCE) As a result, it appears that your first gift has been stalled somewhere in the picket line, I fear the strike will not be resolved in the immediate future and I may need to call on some outside assistance, for your personal Christmas satisfaction is my primary concern.

I shall keep you apprised as to general status of everything. I also will be finding new outside assistance should that become necessary. At this point I think that you only need to remember that there has not yet been a Christmas that we have not achieved our delivery goals, so you should net have anything to worry about. Be sure to let me know there if there is anything that you require.

At your service,

Jay the Elf

Jay the Elf (PCE) here,

The elves are still on strike. However, negotiations are underway. This is a long and tedious process, as there are many demands that they have and the negotiations may drag on for a while. I expect to reach an agreement with them in a couple of weeks (or less) though, based on past history.

In the meantime, in order to increase your level of holiday cheer, I have advanced Stage Two of your gifting to a sooner time. I shall be personally mailing you a small secondary parcel in the next few days, so that there is at least some visible indication of progress in the Gift department.

Until then, continue to be good, because we are watching you constantly, and be sure to play some more Adventurers: Temple of Chac (Santa really hates it when I beat him when I only have one treasure!).

At your service as always,

Hi there,

Jay the Elf (PCE) here,

Stage Two of your Christmas Enjoyment Program has been implemented. I personally prepared a small package for you and gave it to one of my staff to send to you. I'm sure that you can enjoy using it during a game of [REDACTED]. Also, as we cannot control everyone's Christmas and want each person to have the maximum enjoyment as they see fit, I'll leave it up to you whether to open it or not.

Be sure to keep yourself good, as our eyes are watching you all the time! (Well, maybe not all the time. We do allow for some level of privacy...)

At this point we receive a package in the mail, my wife sent me an email at work

Subject: Package
from Board game geek arrived just now.
I know your happy!
love-k

So now I am stuck at work with 6 or more hours to go before I get home, I am insanely curious as to what arrived. Notice how my wife doesn't give any description as to what the package was. Of coarse when I get home I have to open it. This is what I found.

I really love Summoner Wars, Colby Dauch and the Plaid Hat crew do a fantastic job designing and play testing this game. Its also my wife and sisters favorite game so getting somebody to play it is easier than most my games.

Thank You Secret Santa!

---------------

Subject: Project PaxeGift
Jay the Elf (PCE) here,

Santa tells me that you have received my package that my associates mailed for me. Very good.

Because the elf strike (can you imagine that one of their demands is to work fewer hours in December?!?) may result in unforeseen delivery dates for your Stage 1 gift, you may open the Stage 2 gift whenever you would like. (There's no sense making you wait to open one gift with the possibility of having to wait even longer for the primary gift!) Fortunately, I've just been told that you have already done so, so your Christmas season is off to a great start. I'm glad that you like it.

I will keep you updated on the progress of Stage 1. I may have to call our man in Seattle in after all.

Its Saturday, I am home watching the kids while my wife is at work. I just get the kids down for a nap and I get some free time, I am downstairs in my game room reading BGG when I head a loud THUD thru the baby monitor and the my pug starts barking like crazy. I run upstairs to see what happened. My pug is still nutso barking so I let him outside, the kids are still sleeping to I look around to see what fell. I don't see anything inside so I head outside and when I opened the front door I find a big box on the porch.

Its my BGG Secret Santa Gift, In it I find this awesome letter.

and these games!

I started drooling over the Dungeon Command boxes when I first heard about them.
There are so many reasons why these were at the top of my wish list.

First, I am a huge fan of the Dungeons and Dragons Adventure system and these had cards that expanded the system. More cool stuff! Sweet!

Second, I have been a fan of the DND Style Skirmish games ever since Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Battlesystem Skirmishes.

Third, These are great minis to use for Heroscape! Thanks to BGG user Aimon for his variant

Up until now this was the most amazing Secret Santa Gift Ever! But it gets even BETTER!

These Dungeon Command boxes were SIGNED by Chris Dupuis, Peter Lee, Rodney Thompson & Jennifer Wilkes!

Thank You for taking the time to sign these. I plan to get them framed so I can add them to my game room wall.

Jay the Elf (PCE) here!

It appears our man in Seattle has managed to get the goods for you. It also appears that you have already received the package. Good thing too, as Santa has had to fire all of the elves that were on strike. (Don't worry though, he re-hired them a few minutes later.) If you haven't already, feel free to open it and put it to good use. For this, I had to pull a few strings, but luckily some of those strings were attached to a few designers. (Luckily you aren't the only person who is friends with designers!)

I will leave you wondering if there will only be two stages in our Christmas plans or not...

I was in the middle of a game of Innovation this afternoon when there came a knock on the door. It was the postal man, doing Santa's nefarious bidding! I was delighted to see that the package was for me and suspected whom it might be from. When I opened the package I found two beautifully wrapped parcels inside with notes from my secret Santa.

Normally I would wait until Christmas to open them, but I felt the need to remove the games from my wishlist less I wind up with two copies. How terrible the second gifter would feel! Inside I found a copy of Tobago (WOOO!) and a mysterious box.....What could it contain???

With a few deft movements, scissors in hand, I was able to liberate a copy of....Race for the Galaxy!

Brilliant! Now I can fulfill my Christmas fantasies of treasure hunting in space!!! The only problem is....which to play first!? laugh

Thank you Santa!

How to say it? My santa rocks!! I am going to write a series of entries just to show you how much my santa rocks!

Since the first day, my santa has been writing me and taunting me. His messages were always enjoyable. We started to exchange messages in a daily basis (in Spanish because he rocks so much that he speaks Spanish), and, then, I worked out (thanks to the clues he gave me) who my santa was. Since then, I feel like I have gained a friend. Really, I feel so. His messages has made me smile this month, were work is being so hard that I stay up to 3am many days.

Yes, my santa rocks and I want everyone to know

One of the things my Santa learnt about me is that I am going to get married next year with lovely
Oceluna (jueguetistorias)

My santa has been worrying about Oceluna (who is a little sad because she does not get any taunting from her santa). Why he did so? Because my santa rocks!

He is from The Netherlands, and there they have Sinterklaas. So for 5th December, he sent us (Oceluna and me) Love Letter. He sent us a wonderful game. Why? Because my santa rocks!, and because we are going to get married, so a love letter was really the proper thing!

Today I played with my soon-to-be mother-in-law, and she liked the game. Why? Because my santa rocks

I got the game on December the 2th, but Oceluna and I have been working on something really special for my santa, because he rocks. We have not yet finished it - but meanwhile, we wanted to post this entry. Just to let everyone how much my santa rocks

Meanwhile, we are still working in our big thank you. It's difficult, in this community that is so marvelous and with so good-hearted people, but we are trying our best to do something special.

THANK YOU SANTA, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE OF YOU

I got a package yesterday evening and was super excited to open it because I knew I hadn't ordered anything recently so it must be from my Secret Santa! The first thing I noticed was that the big box was fairly lightweight and so my mind instantly went to Star Wars: X-Wing. I got even more excited and hurriedly opened the box to find lots of packing peanuts:
I soon tore through those to have my expectations realized! Better yet, I also found a copy of Dominion: Cornucopia and a $5.00 gift certificate to coolstuffinc.com!! My dominion collection is getting closer to completion and I am pretty happy about that
Thank you Secret Santa, whoever you are! You have made me very happy and excited to play these new games!!! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!!

I received a package from my Secret Santa. It is a huge box from Sci-Fi City in Knoxville, TN. Perhaps my Secret Santa is a fellow Tennessean (although I now live in Texas). I have decided to wait a little longer to open, although it is becoming increasingly difficult to wait to see what sort of spoilage I am receiving. A huge thanks to you Secret Santa.

EDIT: At long last came the day to open my BGG Secret Santa.

The anticipation built day by day and it really felt like Christmas morning. My wife wanted to play Cribbage over breakfast (which I couldn't turn down). We played a 3 game set which delayed my opening of the box even more. I wanted to open the box so bad that I got a little testy when the gameplay slowed down a little.

Tucked away in the plastic outside the box was a bookmark from the store and a sticker indicating this was a gift from my BGG Secret Santa. I opened the box to see a piece of cardboard on top of a ton of green peanuts. Upon removing the cardboard, I saw my present peeking above the peanuts, my very own copy of Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game. I love the PC game and have the older version of the board game which my wife gave me for an anniversary present (sadly it has never seen the table).

I was very pleased to see this in the box, but there seemed to be more in the box. Once the peanuts fell away from the removal of Civilization, I saw another box peeking at me, a copy of Blood Bowl: Team Manager – The Card Game. I had the pleasure of playing this at the end of the summer and enjoyed it. I've played many games of Blood Bowl in my past and love the concept, but the board game can drag on for a bit. Now I get my Blood Bowl in a much shorter period of time without the dice gods smacking me around. A like a game that provides a little more strategy, with a theme that I like in a shorter amount of time. A win on all fronts.

So, by this point, my Secret Santa has already gone above and beyond my expectations. As they say in the infomercials, "But wait, there's more!" One more box remained hidden amongst the peanuts, The Castles of Burgundy, a game that has quickly become one of my favorites. One of my friends owns a copy and I am always eager to play it. It really caters to all of my likes in a game: plenty of choices (but not too many), randomization and a moderate level of strategy. I'll never turn down a game of The Castles of Burgundy.

Once again, my Secret Santa has done too much for me. I feel spoiled and undeserving of such kindness of a stranger. I owe you dinner at the very least next BGG.con for being such a wonderful Santa.

Odd coincidence?

I came home tonight to find a box outside my apartment door, despite it being Sunday, and not a delivery day. Couldn't help myself -- had to open it.

Three games! Craziness! My lucky day!

The weirdness starts with my games coming from the same store as those my boyfriend received Friday, wrapped in the same lovely Christmas paper -- he got three, too. And one of them was the same for both of us! Ha!

I love Tsuro, and I'd wanted to support the Kickstarter for Tsuro of the Seas, but I didn't, so I am so thrilled to have gotten this game from my fabulous Secret Santa!

Thank you, Santa!

I've been meaning to write this for a while as my gifts came in a couple weeks ago but kept remembering at awkward moments. My Santa did me a solid by giving me not just this game but also...

Caylus

This one was the one that was wrapped so I think the Caylus was a stocking gift. But Santa informed me in the haste of the elves sending everyone's gifts out, BBG is some large number of his destinations, that they forgot one.

Oh we'll, doesn't matter to me. Thanks a ton Santa.

And...opened! My guess was correct, it was Claustrophobia. Such a beautiful, but also fun, game. I broke it out and played once with my sister, who stomped me as the condemned in the first scenario. I had a gift certificate to the local game store as well, so I picked up the expansion, too.

Thanks Secret Santa!

------------------------------------------

I received a nicely-wrapped package from my Secret Santa on Saturday. With it (and in an e-mail sent earlier) I was told that I could open EITHER my Secret Santa gift OR my Wargame Secret Santa gift. But if I opened one, the other had to wait until Christmas.

Of course, I only received this message AFTER having opened my Wargame SS gift.

This gift is nicely wrapped, with a note and some candy attached to it. I was told I could open the packaging so I could look at the size of the gift and try and guess what it is.

I think it's pretty much Claustrophobia-sized. Not a lot of boxes that size that I know of. But we'll see! I thought I'd peek (how would any of you ever know?) but the wife told me if I did she'd figure out a way to contact all of you and tattle.

Which I'm actually not really worried about...hmm....

I'm doing the international Secret Santa and the Australian one this year as well.

Usually I'm pretty good at keeping the presents until Xmas day but this year one had instructions to "open now" and the other one .. well.. it just seemed to .. demand to be opened

Thank you Santa for Yggdrasil.. it's nice to have another coop to play with the kids.

And thank you Santa for Beowulf: The Movie... looks interesting and I hope to get a chance to play it soon but it's been a crazy time of year... I'm sure things will settle down once Xmas is upon us.

Do we have time for another game??
mbmbmbmbmb
I was on my way to work after my VERY LAST FINAL of the quarter, when I stopped by my home to take the pooch out. Pulling into the driveway
I could see the all to familiar brown box, tis the season right? With most of the boxes coming my way this time of year being gifts for the other folks in my life, my heart started to race when I noticed the return address label.

Funagain.

Santa you clever fella, you just sent me a message the day before taunting me that I could expect my package in the coming week, but the NEXT day??

I could't contain my wonderment longer than it took to pick the box up and bring it in to the kitchen. I drug a steak knife carefully along the well taped edge seams of the box, and grabbed a bowl for those menacing packing peanuts. It then hit me....this box is far to large for a single game.

I was speechless as I dug in and uncovered:
Seasons

AND THEN:
Atlantis Rising

and Finally:
Noah

A perfect trio of games and the top 3 on my wish list. Little James (6 years old) thanks you tremendously for thinking of him with the addition of Noah, and my Fiancee LOVES Seasons. You took the co-op and dice cues and ran with them. My family cannot thank you enough for your extreme generosity as well and your attention to detail. You went above and beyond and we could not be happier. Once again, from the depths of the Christmas Spirit, thank you kind sir.

Thanks Secret Santa!!

I was really puzzled when I received a big box of "printed material", what could it be as I didn't ordered any "printed materials" recently. Opened the box and revealed big bubble wrap... dig through further and I found this...

all the way from UK!

A Big Thanks to you, Secret Santa! Will play it with my game group in the next few days.

Happy Holidays to all!!

Dear Santa,

I know you live in a cold and far, far place. Nevertheless: Russia surprises me.

I don't know what exactly it is - so it is still a mystery to me. Only my dear wife was in Germany so far, and she thinks it's a Christmas thing and did not bring it back to Switzerland...

I will let you know, when I know more. The packet looks interesting and arrived without any scares or burns...

Thank you!
Giani

Update 03.01.2012

It's "a few acres of snow" - looks very interesting and I look forward to play it soon!

That was a nice experience for my first secret Santa. And it still is very secret as I am not sure where exactly it came from (the address looks Russian...). I will keep on researching.

Thank you for this, it looks like something I can play with the in-laws. Living in Denmark (our tallest "mountain" is 170,86 meters tall), this is the closest I will ever get to anything above 200 meters.

We had just finished cleaning up after a huge first Birthday bash for our daughter when the postman arrived.

Looking at the label I could see the package was from Games Paradise.

I easily rationalised that as we would be out of the country over Christmas that I would need to open this Secret Santa present asap.

I took a couple of photos after the fact forgetting in my haste to take a few before unwrapping.

The cover safely out of reach as I begin to punch pieces.

Offer's of tribute to keep the ravaging hordes at bay.

DISCLAIMER: I received these games and let my kids open them nearly a month ago. Finally I remembered to get the photos of of my phone and post to the list. In my defense, I told Secret Santa right from the start that I was naughty and had no plans to try and change that.

SS was once again very prompt in getting games to me. I intentionally wait to ship my target's games, well, because I'm like that (see the naughty comment above). As decreed by Monty Python, three is the number thy shall count.

After some rock, paper, scissors and additional negotiation, my kids were each allowed to open one of the gifts. My 7yo offered to open the smallest gift even though he had the second pick.

Power Grid: Québec/Baden-Württemberg
I will once again promise to play more Power Grid this year, and will again refer you to the naughty comment above. My 10yo took the next largest package.

Junta
SS knew that I liked evil, and left a note on this saying, "Now you can be evil!" Looking forward to it. My son already has his negotiation face on.

There was one large and heavy package left. It was only fair that the youngest got to open it. I racked my brain trying to figure out what it might be. Nothing could have prepared me for the surprise.

Eclipse
This by itself would have been a very generous gift, but paired with the others really blew me away. SS knew that I've been trying to stay away from things that are too similar to what I already have, and this is most certainly different. I don't think I would have ever considered buying this, but I'm very excited to get it to the table. Apparently my 4yo is as well.

I've been very fortunate to have been the target of very generous Secret Santas in the past, and this year is no exception. I only hope that I do as well for my targets. SS, I can't thank you enough for the gifts. You rock!

My gift arrived today!!!

Since Santa told me that his reindeers were coming, I've been really anxious. I opened the package, and there were Saboteur and a bigger box. Inside it, there was Pandemic!!! It was the first 'international' game I played.

This is my first Secret Santa experience and I'm really happy about it!!!

Thank you so much, Secret Santa!!!

Merry Christmas, everybody!!!

------------------------------------------------------ EDIT

Well, I didn't mention about the taxes charged with the gift, because I was aware that they would come. But for my surprise, my Secret Santa had already dealt with the import taxes! (Now, I undestand the part of the mail "I've hopefully dealt with the import taxes" - I didn't get it by the first time).

Dear Santa, you didn't need to pay for the taxes (I was ready to pay for them) and I know the Brazilian ones are a "rip-off". So, THANK YOU SO MUCH, AGAIN!!!

Man, I must have been the best boy all year long!

This Secret Santa started for me with two lovely postcards, one from my Secret Santa (on vacation in Minnesota or busily preparing some presents there) and one from LOL (a Little Old Lady Santa had mustered to help him out) - that was fantastic already I happily added those two postcards to a showcase I use to present special things from my Secret Santas over the last seven years.

I then got a mail from my Santa that the LOL had sent of a parcel to me. I then decided to work on my wish list and reset all my games to 4 or 5, so that I could revalue the games on my wish list (one of my promises to myself for next year is to reduce the number of games I buy). This caused some confusion and consternation with my Santa as he and the LOL checked my wishlist in the middle of this correction process after sending of their games and they thought I would not like their games (which turned out to be not the case AT ALL). Sorry again for the confusion, dear Santa and LOL.

Some time later, the postman rang and handed me a huge parcel with "Secret Santa" written onto it.

I put 7 Wonders into the picture for size comparison. Sorry for the blurry picture, I must have been overexcited to open up the parcel. When I opened the parcel (I was specifically allowed to do so by my Santa) it did not only include

but also

AND

MAN, thanks a lot Santa for being THAT generous!!

I had the most wonderful Secret Santa, not only by looking at what I got (Kingsburg is so good, I have already added the expansion as a "MUST HAVE" to my "Buy-less-games" wish list and my wife said that our Family Santa MAY have this in store for me....), but also by sending me postcards and being SUPERresponsive to all my mails to Santa and his LOL.

Thanks a lot, Santa, for making this my best ever BGG Secret Santa experience!

Yesterday, I arrived at my apartment with a suspicious note on the door. Something to do with "We're sorry we missed you."

I wondered to my boyfriend, "Is this for me, or for my roommate."

"To the front office," I commanded. And to we went, and since he is such an awesome boyfriend he took my trash to the dumpster and just dropped me off.

But ALAS! The office was close, for it was Sunday. Le sigh. I must wait. This morning promptly at 8, I was at the front office. BUT ALAS AGAIN!

For it does not open until 8:30. Nooooo! I shed one bitter tear, trudging back to my dwelling. Then I do stupid stuff like Farmville2, why do I need so many frakking limes?

And then in blink of an eye, it was 8:45! I scrambled and nearly fell, I really should clean my room. Grabbed my workout clothes, cuz this girl is fine (and wants to stay that way).

To the OFFICE! AND it was open! AND there was no line. AND they found it on the first try, unlike the last time, when it took them three freaking times, you'd think that they would know how to organize by now?

AND THERE IT WAS!

Part of me, lamented, how I should wait until tonight, at home, with you know some soft jazz in the background, perhaps a few lit candles.

"Biotch, please."

A PACKAGE FOR ME!

GIFT WRAPPING! AND NOT ONE BUT TWO PRESSIES! Now I feel a little lame...stupid shipping and handling to Russia.

What could it be?

OMG LAST MINUTE ADDITION TO MY WISH LIST! YAY!

WONDER what this could be...tehehehe

SQUEEE! I'M SO EXCITED!

So It has been a whirlwind year and I almost considered not doing SS this year but decided I couldn't give it up since they are so much fun. That was of course before hurricane sandy hit the north east and left my wife, Myself our then 1 month old partially adopted daughter and 2 cats homeless for the better part of November. We live on the 5th floor of an apartment building right by the water on a small barrier island called long beach off the south shore of Long Island NY. while our apartment was fine, the building lost power, heat and the water was contaminated for over a week. Soooo... we went to friends a few towns over in queens and my Secret santa got updated with my parents address nearby. Well, Santa did some tremendous research because he not only discovered all of that information, but also some red flags which required consideration. Not the least of which is that my family is Jewish. Of course I tried to make a case for myself and my family but santa realized that it wasn't me that needed a gift. After all, I had just survived a hurricane with the worst effect being that I had to tour the couches and guest rooms of friends I hardly get a chance to see and play games with for most of a month. Not to mention that I passed the Bar exam after 4 years of law school at night. Plus you might have missed the part where my wife and I came home with our first child. So really with so much good in my life who did I think I was to expect a gift from Santa. As Santa put it, nearly everyone in my family had a tremendous gift this year. I passed the bar. My wife and I have a daughter. My daughter has us. and the cats... Well Santa felt a little sorry for the cats who were dislocated with us and didn't really have anything special happen to them this year. They had strangers taking care of them for 2 weeks while we were away adopting our daughter, and then less than two weeks later they get packed up in carriers and brought to an unfamiliar place to live without us for most of a month. Calliope and Michelle weren't having such a great holiday season so Santa rightly decided that they deserved to get something special and he did not disappoint them. A box arrived at my parents house that contained both Eclipse and Mage Wars. The cats didn't seem that excited at first, but after I explained to them how awesome both of these games are they immediately developed a liking to them.

Michelle wanted to keep the games and the box they came in all for herself.

Later Calliope thought she deserved to have the games and tried to claim them both for herself

I figured the best way to settle it was to let them play for each game one on one. I set up mage wars for them but the household rule of no climbing on the table made it difficult for them to play.

Plus Michelle was much more interested in learning Eclipse than mage wars

Thank you Secret Santa The cats are thrilled and I'm very excited to borrow their gifts (They Meowed it was ok) and get them to the table soon.
