Welcome to my 7th annual Secret Santa List. For those of you who are new to the list:

I run this list as a central location to let your Secret Santa know when your (hopefully much appreciated) gift has arrived.

Use this list to record what your Secret Santa sent you and remember to include any comments such as thanks that you want to give your Secret Santa. When you post on this list, you may want to make a note on your profile with a link to your entry so your Secret Santa can easily locate your confirmation of delivery and your reaction. That way your Secret Santa can look to see if you received your gift and you can post any comments you may have about the gift here and you can reply without the identity of your Secret Santa ever having to be released!

Please only make an entry when you actually receive the present! This assists those of us who read the list regularly as recipients are adding their gifts in a chronological order. No placeholder entries, please.

I find it very handy to put a link on your profile page so your Secret Santa knows where you have posted the feedback so s/he doesn't have to sort through 2000 entries to find yours quickly.

To see all previous years' editions of this list and to give the new Secret Santa participants an idea of how this works, look at these links:

"2011 List"

"2010 List"

"2009 List"

"2008 List"

"2007 List"

"2006 List"

Further helpful hints:

IMPORTANT - When you get your gift(s), take the time to "Add Item" to this GeekList rather than place a comment at the bottom of the list. This helps the statisticians out there.

A good example of how to make an entry containing multiple gifts is located at: this entry.

Making an actual entry will also make it easier for your Secret Santa to locate your Item.

If you would like to taunt your "target" while maintaining your secret identity, you can do so using the Santa logon. Just log yourself off and close any BGG windows (if you don't you take the chance of being discovered if the new username doesn't take) and log on using this info:

Username: santa
Password: password

I hope you have a terrific holiday season and enjoy the list!

Waiting in the mail today was a lovely box containing two wrapped packages.

Obviously, Survive! was in there. As was a game which I could guess through the wrapping: Power Grid: China/Korea.

Thanks, Santa!!

WoweeWowWow!!!! SANTA YOU WERE GREAT!

Santa has taunted and teased, prodded, given me tasks...and then I got a geekmail that suggested I might not see games until January

Then today Santa helped me realize that the end of one of my geekmails from him had been cut off by my email provider... I had totally missed the tracking number for Canada Post. Checking with them I soon realized that my parcel had been delivered today!!!

Anyhow, when I got home my son and I set to opening the package when I found a SS note and 3 beautifully wrapped presents within.

First was a heroclix character - (photos didn't turn out) did Santa know my son was getting into superheroes, minis and the like???

Second was when my jaw started to drop:

The Castles of Burgundy! HIGH on my Wishlist!

And then there was this!

YES - also a #1 priority

I got spoiled: I haven't mentioned that previous to all this I got 50 GeekGold (Avatar, here I come)and My SS donated Starlit Citadel Points to me as well...Wow!

I wish a Merry Christmas and a fantastic 2013 to my Secret Santa - who was tricksey even in his cryptic reveal:

I've been a little antsy the past couple of weeks. While others have been getting their packages, I continue to wait. I had some false alarms in the meantime (One package thought to be a candidate ended up being my copies of FrankenDie.)

Today, I get the text from my wife that my Secret Santa package arrived! I had to delay gratification since it was my day at the gym, but when I got home, I opened it up.

For once, they are wrapped presents. Wasn't quite sure what I was going to do, but then wife went, "Prezzies! Open them, Open them!". So the decision was made.

So, no new games this year, but a couple of expansions to games I love. Thunderstone: Wrath of the Elements was the last expansion for the original Thunderstone that I didn't own, so now I have a complete set.

The other gift was:

More stuff for Race For The Galaxy. While the steam has kinda gone out of the gaming group for the game, I still love it.

There was also a card which contained a lot of stuff about Christmas traditions. I appreciate the effort in putting personal touches with the gifts.

Even the cat got some enjoyment out of the package.

So... I was planning to wait until Christmas, but my kids just couldn't wait (they made me do it, I swear)! whistle

To my credit, I did set up the gift opening as a bit of a reward for cleaning their rooms (to mom's standard even), so after a long day of slaving away, they eagerly gathered around & we ripped open the packaging together! Woah! Cool! Awesome! These were the words they shouted out as one of our top wished for items was revealed... Legendary: A Marvel Deck Building Game! My kids (ages 8/10/12) are HUGE superhero fans & we quickly got one partial play in tonight & really really (really) enjoyed it! We can't wait to team up again soon! cool

Also included was a bonus gift of Euphrates & Tigris: Contest of Kings... I'm always looking for new games to try, so we'll give it a try over the holidays!

Thanks Santa!

I had an amazing Santa this year - I got 3 games and a big pile of goodiea! The first game is Secret of Monte Cristo, which I've wanted for a while. Then, the second game was Cities.
I think I heard about Cities initially on an episode of the Spiel podcast and it sounded very intriguing.

The third game was Animal Upon Animal: Small and Yet Great!
.My friend David got me hooked on the Animal Upon Animal/Tier auf Tier series and I've been slowly collecting the whole set. This one may become a desk toy given the different sizes of the animals, but maybe they'll get included to make stacking harder since they provide a smaller surface area.

Finally, there was lots of rolos and smarties and candy canes and packets of cocoa mix and hot cider mix in the packages as well.

Thank you, Santa! I am bowled over with your generosity and can't wait to play all my new games!

Hi there! Follow my gaming exploits on Twitter (fehrmeister)
mbmbmbmbmb
My Secret Santa is awesome!!

I’ve been blessed with a very active and generous Secret Santa who’s made the last several weeks a lot of fun! He contacted me early in November with some initial taunting and we communicated back and forth several times before he accidentally gave away his identity (it’s easy to forget to log out and then sign in as “Santa” before emailing). He’s a blogger and all-around-great-guy from Madrid, Spain, soon to be married to a Mrs.Claus who joined in the fun!

I was curious when Mrs.Claus specifically asked me for the names of each of my children, as she needed them for a secret project. Whatever a person does with that many names is going to be a lot of work, as I have ten of them. My Santa told me that they would be sending a package all the way from Spain, while some of his Canadian elves sent another package of games from elsewhere in my country.

I was thrilled last week when the package from Spain arrived. I waited until I received the Canadian package to open it however – and I received that TODAY! My wife and I got all our children in the living room and I opened the Spanish package to find a lovely Christmas card along with: a copy of Rory's Story Cubes, a great story-telling game for kids that I’m sure they will really enjoy!

Looking further into the package, I smiled as I saw what Mrs.Claus had created for the children with so much love and care: 10 specially hand-crafted, adorable felt Santa meeple Christmas tree ornaments – each with the name of one of our 10 kids!! This must have taken a lot of time and effort. The children were thrilled to each have their own – from our 15-year-old daughter all the way down to our 4-month-old daughter (well, the baby didn’t know what was going on, but we’ll tell her all about it when she can understand one day). We took a few photos of them before they each hung their Santa meeples on our Christmas tree:

My Santa was incredibly generous. I had told him I would be happy with just one little thing, but here in addition to the package from Spain, he sent me 3 games from a Quebec game store! I had not been expecting that. These games were beautifully wrapped – I hated to even open them – but I could hardly wait. Santa had given me clues as to one of the gifts, stating that while this was a game that was not on my wishlist, it was one he was a fan of and thought I would like given that we have similar taste in games. When I found out his identity, I saw that he was officially a “fan” of 2 games: Caylus (one of my top 10 games) and Belfort. Sure enough, when I opened the largest of the 3 wrapped gifts, there was Belfort. I’ve heard lots of great things about this worker placement game (it was one of the hits of last year’s BGG.CON last year if I remember correctly) and am very excited to try it out. The theming and artwork intrigued my kids when they saw the box and they are eager to play it as soon as possible as well. Getting a game not on my wishlist, but that looks like something we’ll enjoy is AWESOME, and shows that Santa put some real thought into his gifts.

The second game was a copy of 7 Wonders: Cities! 7 Wonders is one of our favorite games to play as a family, and my kids can hardly wait to play it now with this expansion. We are going to have some kind of fun this Christmas holiday!

I had no idea what the smallest of the gifts could be. I was shocked and very excited to see a copy of one of the hits of this year’s BGG.CON (that I was not able to attend): the card game: Love Letter. I didn’t even know that it was available for purchase yet. My wife perked up when she saw this one, and we’ll probably be playing it a few minutes after I finish posting this thank-you note.

My Santa went way beyond the call of the duty of the North Pole to deliver much happiness to this Fehr household. Thank-you very, very much for everything my Spanish friends! You have made me one very happy fellow. I can hardly wait to break these new games open, and we’ll think of you whenever we take out these Santa meeple ornaments for our tree year after year. I hope you receive much joy from your thoughtfulness, kind words, and great generosity. May YOU be richly blessed this Christmas too!

Received my Secret Santa package today. Inside was some abstract goodness. Tsuro of the Seas (with Kickstarter goodies [I think]) and a signed (!!!) copy of For The Win (also with extra tiles for more players and a TMG tile bag). Thank you so much Santa I can't wait to get these games to the table! If I were a bit more savvy I'd post the pics I took. Thanks again!

I heard from my stealthy-Santa ninja on Friday - letting me know that they were on the case, and that (air-traffic between here and Lapland permitting) my package was inbound.

I just got home from seeing Skyfall at the movies, and a mysteriously boardgame-shaped parcel was waiting for me by the door! It's been sent from a NZ game store, and makes interesting sounds when you shake it... arrrh

I think I can hold out the one remaining week to open on Christmas day. I will update when I open it.

THANK YOU SANTA - and I hope you have a fantastic Christmas!

* * * * * * * * EDIT * * * * * * * *

Thank you so much Santa! I opened the package on Christmas morning to find not one but TWO boxes of fun inside!

My Super Santa got me:

Carcassonne: The Castle

Which is from what I hear the best way to play 2-player Carc. My wife and I are always looking for good 2-player games!

AND he didn't stop there - he also included:

Small World: Tales and Legends

...an expansion for my newest game - feeding my expansion addiction! mb

The packages came from a game store here in NZ, but thanks to a note in the package I believe I

know who my Brazilian Secret Santa is ninja

Once again Santa, I hope you have had a fantastic Christmas, and may your 2013 be filled with gaming.

(edit to update game used in geeklist item)

I was worried I had an absentee Santa this year, but I needn't have worried - I heard from my SS on Friday: "Your parcel has been sent..." Hurrah! "Also included is a game not on your wishlist, but by a designer you like... although it is quite different from their usual fare..."

Hmmm, intriguing...

So yesterday, a very well-packed box arrived while I was at work. I opened it to find two beautifully wrapped parcels, and after consulting my wife, ripped off the wrapping paper too!

Inside one was an Essen release by two of my favourite designers, Kramer and Kiesling, the aforementioned The Palaces of Carrara, which I have played recently, and much to my joy was better and heavier than I had been expecting, so that should become a regular fixture with my games group.

Inside the other was a very timely copy of The Hobbit Card Game. I'll no doubt be seeing the film very soon, and I'm a massive fan of Martin Wallace, so that's also very welcome indeed.

Thank you Santa! You have gone above and beyond. Palaces has been popped and bagged and is ready for the table. The Hobbit's rules have been consumed, and I'm ready to do battle with evil!

Merry Christmas to all!

Look! Look! Santa sent me a nice package

In the envelope there was Munchkin 7 and the following letter.

Thank you Santa! An extension for a game I don't even own the base game! But I fully understand the rough year you had Santa. Hope that your elves and reindeers didn't suffer too much.

Merry Christmas.

Edit:
After receiving the following message:

Santa wrote:

Dear Martin,

Santa was a little busy and didn't see that you updated your profile to reply to him. He always checked his mailbox for any replies, not knowing that you'd be a pro about these things. Thanks for the report about your gift in the Show and Tell geeklist. It was a magical shipment: If opened on Christmas Eve, it would have been a cornucopia of awesome games, wondrous riches and delicious gifts. If opened before that date, it would only have contained Munchkin 7: More Good Cards, yes. Though your reply to this shows that you have either seen right through my bluff magicks, or you are not only a good boy this year, but on the verge of being a saint.

Two more parcels are en-route to you. The smaller one will help you with the larger one. My elves have notified me that the hideous gnomes at the custom office have gotten ahold of the larger parcel, but it seems like it passed them without troubles. If not, there will be a weapon against the Customs gnomes in the other package to you. You can have a look through Santa's magic mirror at http://www.canadapost.ca/cpo/mc/default.jsf?LOCALE=fr to scry on the larger parcel by calling out the magic word "CL724300278DE". Sorry, Santa's spells don't rhyme.

I hope that everything arrives in time for Christmas Eve.

Have a merry Christmas and a great New Year 2013!

Your
Santa

I was afraid to open this package I received before Christmas:

Opened the box on the 25th only to find out that there were a lot of gifts inside:

With some help from my daughters, here is what everything turned out to be:

Kingdom Builder, Fresko, Love Letters, Catan for 7 Wonders, cards for Naheulbeuk, Cameleon for Zooloretto and 2 boxes of "chokolade". Everyone was excited! There were also two kind letters from Santa.

Thank you very much!

Thank you so much Santa! I was looking to pick this one up from local game store but this year's game budget was all spent already back in October during my first ever Essen trip. Without much hope I left a hint for Secret Santa on my BGG profile page - and here it is! There was also nice Christmas card with "Merry Christmas" in latvian:

And finally there was Zooloretto: Rio Grande Games Expansion Pack #2

What a great package - no problem to decide what to do during long Christmas holidays we have here in Latvia this year!

The Secret Santa this year was a great experience. My Santa had the taunting turned up really high. He had me upload a geeklist, do "Cards Against Humanity" type word association and even made me details good deeds that I have already done and deeds that I promise to do in the future.

During our early conversations, I mentionned that my 3-year old daughter was feeling a bit under the weather. Santa immediately sent out a game for her, "Go Away, Monster". It looks as if that game will soon pass "Race for the Galaxy" as our most played game!!!

Yesterday I picked up a huge box at the post office.

Inside was 3 wrapped packages, I always try to guess my presents. This proved a bit difficult, but I was 1 out of 3.

Jambo, Haggis and Navegador!!! Three games that were high on my wishlist.

THANK YOU SANTA!!!

So my still-silent, still-secret Santa sent me Seasons! This is a game I've played a few times beforehand and knew I wanted for myself. Oddly, it's about the best 3-player game I've played in a long while, so there was a definite niche I wanted it to fill.
I got to enjoy it over the break as I taught my brother to play and had a couple of games. Still totally a blast.

Thanks, Santa!

=======

I picked up a parcel from the post office yesterday which shipped from Starlit Citadel, so I have to assume it's from my very silent Secret Santa.

I'm one of those sorts who likes to wait until Christmas to open it though, so you all get to play the waiting game with me! ;D

Thank you, Santa, wherever you are.

Dearest Santa;

Today the cadet gray sky brushed with milky wisps of cloud, concealed the rays of a warm and yellow sun. Watching the water of the lake reflecting a dark, near-winter sky, surrounded in muted grasses and black coniferous trees, I am lulled by the silence of peace and inactivity, and I am beckoned from within to commence for myself an afternoon nap.

Settling into that one billowed chair which is only suited to be pressed upon when one intends to stay for a good cozy while, I hear the familiar sound of hard shoes descending the stairwell outside of my door. I pause, anticipating the songful tune of our doorbell, and I am abruptly occupied with sudden vitality that mere seconds before abode well beyond my capacities.

Dingggg Dongggg’….

There, outside of my door, I beheld the box. I had to blink, even twice, and read careful and hard again whose name was written in the from section: “S. Clause”. Did my heart just skip a beat? Did I just feel a surge of joy race through my veins as if trying to burst out into an aura of glee?

I opened the special package that could only come from one whose name was S. Clause. Inside, I could not believe my eyes, again. It was a true, home-made note from Santa that said “Merry Christmas.” Already I had something I could keep and cherish for Christmas memories to share. Then, gently laying aside the cheery greetings, I stood gazing into my own Christmas past of happiness and wonder. I lifted the three presents out of their traveling lodge with care.

Each one was wrapped with loving hands from the S. Clause household. I recalled receiving permission from S. Clause to indulge my curiosity and divulge the contents upon arrival…if I so desired.

Oh, yes S. Clause , I most certainly do desire to do so! But were these treasures wrapped with care for only a mere fleeting moment of admiration for the effort? Should I tear away at the enchantment of mystery each one poses, taunting with their promising and mysterious contents?

I shall wait. It will not be easy, but it will be worth it. Suddenly, the room brightens with a flash of glowing warmth…the sun has shifted to the obverse and radiates the day with light. The billowed chair will have to wait.

The wonder of this time of year moves me in so many ways, from enjoying the sparkle of wonder in my grandchildren, to being warmed by privileged observations of the kindness and generosity of strangers. You are a very special part of our Christmas, and dear Santa, I hope and pray that you and Mrs. Clause will, quite simply, have a Christmas day filled with beauty, peace, and all of the magic that only fluffy white beards, cookies and milk, reindeer sleighs, and workshop elves, and love, can bring.

EDIT: DECEMBER 25, 2012:

Yabba-Dabba-Dooooooo! WOW! Secret Santa you were super generous! Thank you sooooo much for Descent 2nd edition, JAB realtime boxing, and CIA vs KGB card game!

Thank You and Merry Christmas! kisskisskiss

Yay! My silent Secret Santa was real after all I just received my package today and as I had no instructions sent to me, I went ahead and opened it.

Agricola has been on my list for quite some time and I didn't even know it had a new edition out, which contains the animeeples in it.

Thank you SS!

There IS a Santa! And a Mrs. Claus too!

Goodies abound when I tore open the box. The first thing I noticed was apparently Mrs. Claus was trying to put me into a sugar coma.

Then after opening the wrapped presents I gave a thankful and content sigh now knowing my Red Dragon Inn collection would be up to date.

My very first BGG secret santa proved to be nothing short of awesome. I am blessed to be part of a community who cares about giving and making the holidays fun for adults I want that fudge recipe...

Thanks Mr. And Mrs. Kringle!

My now-not-so-Secret Santa had already inquired if the package had arrived, and today I finally got a note saying that I have a package waiting! After more than 30 minutes of waiting at the post office and wading home through the snow, I got to start with the unwrapping:

Inside the cardboard was a box in a Christmas wrapping. Luckily my Secret Santa gave me the permission to open it immediately, so I didn't have to wait until Christmas. Inside was this beauty, with a few cards from sunny Thessaloniki that made me miss summer a bit

Thank you very much! These heavyish traingames are something I've been eyeing over quite a long time, and this probably is the one I'm the most interested in.

So I get a call from my wife telling me that a package came in for me today! Yay!

Santa told me to expect a package soon...and it was the longest 3 days of waiting ever!

I had his permission to go ahead and open away, so without self-control, resolve, ordelay I decided to pull out a key and hack away at the tape... The box did warn not to use a razor...

I carefully pulled out the packing peanuts... ok maybe not... I rummaged through the box to find two amazing games!

Not only did Santa get me Snowdonia which was at the tippy top of my wishlist (I have a soft spot for Lookout Games) But he also must've noticed that I LOVE dexterity games because He also got me Catacombs!

I couldn't be more excited!

You did a great GREAT job Santa! Thank you so much! I hope you and your family have a fantastic Christmas!

I am "floored" by your generosity!

Merry Christmas!

edit** Just found out my wife bought me the exact same games for Christmas...uhoh

edit** Was able to return Snowdonia and Catacombs and add a little bit to get...

Spellbound!

Thanks again Secret Santa!

So, I'm new here and much to my surprise I received a package in the mail containing two incredible games! Having not had or even played these two games I wondered "where did these come from?". After finding some information inside the box I was able to contact another bgg member to assist me in what I believed to be a misdelivered package. I just wanted to make sure the games found their rightful owner in time for Christmas, Having no idea that there was a secret Santa program here. This member was able to alleviate my fears and assures me this was a gift for me! So very very cool, the games look like a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to playing them with my 4 children. So I would like to send a heartfelt thank you to my secret Santa, and the bgg member who helped me figure this out! Much appreciated.

Merry Christmas to all!
Scott.
