GOOD THINGS
The official Games for Geekgold December 2012.

There's a lot of rubbish and bad and very sad things out there. But then, if we look, there's a lot of good stuff.

Share the good vibe with G4GG December!

Rules
1 Die rolls, here on BGG posts, will be used to ensure transparency in picking winners. These are trackable and can be audited.
2 Despite this we still have to be good chaps to each other – that is if we put an item up we draw it, if we draw it we send it to the winners.
The good chap' code:
- We're all good chaps, so behave
- We're friendly, honest and err on the side of being good to each other
- If we make mistakes we own up, apologise and make good as far as possible
- We treat others as we'd want to be treated
- We're here to play boardgames and have spiffing fun and this lottery is just another way of extending this fun by getting more excellent games to fabulous people

Entering
Anyone with a BGG account can participate but new users can’t list items.
If you see an item on this geeklist you're interested in owning, tip that entry and you are entered.

Listing items
+ Post it as an item on this list (but not if you’re a new user).
+ Include a full description of the thing or edition that you have and its condition.
+ Specify if you will be limited in shipping options. If you ship internationally, if the shipping is on you, or if you’re willing to contribute to shipping.
+ Specify when your item will close for entries (this MUST be by 31 December).
You can post Board Games, Video Games, RPGs, and related items. You cannot make a lottery for Geekgold or something completely unrelated the main entry, although these types of item can be added as bonus or as secondary winners. You can put gift cards as long as it is for a games related store (i.e. no gift card to a convenience or department store allowed, but one for steam, funagain, drivethru rpg, etc can be raffled). A Paypal payment in lieu of an online store permitted if the winner cannot easily obtain the game for an online store.
+ Always link the entry to the correct item on the database. So if you are auctioning the Video Game version of Puerto Rico Puerto Rico and not to Puerto Rico.

+ Miscellaneous game entries, like FIMO miniatures, pimp items, etc should be added using Miscellaneous Game Accessory, Miscellaneous Miniatures Game Accessory or Miscellaneous Card Game Accessory as appropriate.
+ Don't update more than once a day! Preferably not more than once a week.
+ If you are in some way connected with the item in question, either as a publisher or as a designer, declare it!
+ Please try not to add substantial new items to a lottery item after a few days of listing without checking with me first. Some people invest much or all of their limited if they perceive they have a reasonable chance of winning. Dilution, while good for you, may be unfair for bidders.

Drawing
! If you put up an item you will make the drawing on bgg.com using dice rolls in the entry you use to list the item. You must do this.
! Please, for everyone's sake (particularly yours) keep the entering for items as simple as possible!!! If you have two prizes you’ll need to do the draw several times removing earlier winners if they are rolled again. You will need to specify if the same person can’t win more than once.
! By the last day of the month OR the day you nominated you are expected to draw the item. They must be drawn within 5 days of the end of the month or it is expected that you will return all geekgold.

How to draw....
see here for a better step-by-step summary N/A
A. Go to the item on the G4GGg thread and post that it is closed for drawing. Add the number of geekgold that have been bid at the time you close it. (see here http://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/148593/item/2366038#item23...)
B. Find the ID number of your item from your browser URL (click the number of the item next to the title where it is on the geeklist (eg the item above is 2366038).
C. Click on Jeromier's Awesome Tool and open it in another tab or window
D. Enter the ID number of your item into Jeromier's Awesome Tool.
E. Select the Display the final list option. DO NOT choose the Randomize the list option and DO NOT check the Determine winner box.
F. Select Find Winner. This will give you a list of bidders in alphabetical order (don't randomise it)!
G. If you can right click on the list and copy it, then paste it to a googledoc or word doc and save it- IF you know how import it to BGG in your gallery please do this, (this is an added option so that later entries after it has closed are easier to rule out).
H. Save the list and go to the bottom bar of the listed item. Click on Add a Roll and beside Roll type in dxxx (with xxx being the number of entries as recorded in Jeromier's Awesome Tool . Click Add Roll and the winning number will appear underneath your item.
I. Now you just have to find who that was. Check your winning number against the list of bidders you got from Jeromier's Awesome Tool to find the winner.
J. Display the winner's name as a post below your entry. Use the drop down menu option with Insert Geek Link in it. Use the list to find User. Then insert the avatar of the winner by using the code [username = nameofwinner] (without the spaces in the middle).
K. Contact that person and arrange shipment of the game.
L. Send them the game.

NOTE: Each die roll gets a unique sequential number.
If you can't draw the entry I will do it for you - ask me and give me a few days’ notice.
Do not delete the item!

CLOSED FOR TIPS at 552. Winner Anounced.

This lottery is for a copy of the 1st (large boxed) edition of Loopin' Louie. All the game parts are complete and in good working order with English language rules.

BUT it does not have its original big box. I do have however a beat up small edition box which I will use as the packaging for the game components to save on postage.

So if you win you get:
1 x ridiculously fun chicken bashing aerial acrobatic game.
1 x butt ugly, raggedy box from a different version.

Here's some piccies

CLOSED at 648 - Drawing using Scraimer's tool.

This is for a tiny little teenie-weenie gaming surprise package. I can promise that it will contain dice and a small game. It will also contain some other strange gaming stuff. Maybe it will contain an expansion or a print-n-play game? My lips are sealed.

My only promise is I will have fun putting it together. I hope you will have fun opening it. I will consult your profile to try to match the items to your interests.

There will be no bonus entries because I am encouraging people to just drop a couple of on this - let's keep this all very tiny and fun. No big investments and no big promises. Just a little surprise. cool

Free shipping worldwide. It will come in a padded envelope.

Closes in the afternoon on December 30, 2012.

Hi Cate!

Received the thick and heavy package on Saturday and opened it tonight:

First I carefully removed the card from the packaging:

Then I ripped open the top of the package and peered inside:
surprise wow

First thing out: Being Erica, third season dvd set. Yeah! Given the heads up that this was coming, I started watching season one last night and am currently on episode 6. Awesome show! Thank you so much for the recommendation and the dvds.

Next out, two card games:

Famiglia: a 2 player game that will be great for my husband and I. I mostly play games with just my husband, so this is perfect!
Fzzzt!: "A futuristic robot auction game with some dodgy mechanics". Cool theme and it scales from 2 to 4. Looks like it will do well with the group we play Munchkin and Fluxx with. Thanks!

Some cool looking miniatures:

Had to take another picture of the inside of the package as there was still tons of stuff:

Next item up, a heart shaped box that rattled:

With a Cancer Sucks (yes, yes it does) band around it:

Inside, lots of very cool looking dice. Shiny!

Also, a bug clicker (to annoy the cats), a purple pawn and a harley-davidson museum poker chip (cool, been playing poker recently).

Oooo, a tiger! Nice!

Wow, an audio book: Ready Player One. I haven't read it, but sounds right up my alley. Plus Wil Wheaton reads it!

Cool! Firefly trading cards. One of my favorite shows (why did they have to cancel it...). Thanks!

More trading cards, a wooden toy and a cute bookmark

Last item out is my favorite! Now I get the card! The cat, gloves and socks are very awesome and perfect! Thank you so much!! I had to run down and show my husband right away

Everything is so perfect for me. Very generous! Thank you again!

-Melissa

Happy New Year everyone! May your New Years be full of joy and laughter & games!!!

Aka Fuji (Red Mt. Fuji)

This month I'll be extremely busy, because I'm getting married. Yah!!! So if I don't respond around the mid of Dec, don't panic I'm just pre-occupied with wedding-panic ("will it rain? Is everything finalized? Have I forgotten anything? So much to doooo..." and other fun thoughts that someone with OCD might have hehe).

I've also just come back from Tokyo Game Market (which was last week), and picked up several new games which isn't up on BGG yet (I'll get around to putting them up soon). I also made a video about the games, but just need to edit it (sorry busy Wedding making...handmaking nearly all the decorations), but for now

This drawing is for a brand new copy of Aka Fuji I'm not sure if you can get this anywhere other than the Game Market in Japan. It's a lot of fun, and it's one beautiful game. They were able to demo the game to me, the instructions are in Japanese, but I'll write up an English version for the lucky winner. I really wished I had more money this month, and I would have bought several more so I could put them up for G4GG.

Shipping: Free worldwide
1 = 1 bid (sorry I'm not too clever when it comes to all those special bonus draws)
Drawing will be on : Dec 31st
I will use the method that Sam wrote in the heading. Sam's Dice method.

(I found some really awesome games at the Game Market, so after the Wedding and when I have some money again, I'll buy some of those and put them for the following G4GG's)

UPDATE:
Game Information:
Players : 2-6 players
Takes: 1-10 minutes
Components: cards, 1 awesome dice, and ice cream? sticks with a print on both sides. One side is for the Red sunset version of Mt Fuji, and the other side is Mt Fuji with a beautiful wave in the foreground.
Style: Hidden goal, filler,
Rules:
Hidden goal cards are dealt to each player. Players are trying to complete the picture shown on their hidden goal card (either the Red sunset view of Mt Fuji, or the Blue wavy Mt Fuji). They roll the dice and can perform the action shown on the dice. But watch out if someone rolls the Mt Fuji symbol, there are 3 more turns and after that, whichever side has the majority of the picture complete is the winner.

carrying bag

I am offering here a never-used Hive bag. This is the standard bag that was included in some sets, but I'm not going to be using it, and I simply hate the idea of throwing away perfectly good game bits of any kind! It is about 7 inches in diameter. Photo shows the actual bag I am offering.

If you want to use this to carry something other than Hive pieces, your secret will be safe with me!

Well, okay, I'll throw in a 100 too. Poop, I just recalled, that's against the GfGG rules, so.. I'll print up to 5 game aids for you. CLOSEDRegulars on the G4GG lotteries will have noticed that I have been rather absent of late. This has been due to illness, but the PnP Secret Santa has rekindled my enthusiasm for PnPing, so I am going to offer a few more PnP games, to replenish my dwindling supply of . I'm down to only just over 5000!

The first game I will offer is Camden. This comes from James Ernest and his Cheapass games. First published in their Hip Pocket series, it is currently available for a free download on their website (www.cheapass.com), and after a successful kickstarter campaign, is about to be republished under the new name of Camden. My PnP version is listed here with James' permission. Cheapass have quite a selection of games available for free download, and if you are in to PnP, they are well worth a visit. Although the downloads are free, they do encourage you do donate if you find stuff you like. I would encourage the winner of this to donate if they like the game.

Anyway, what is the game like? It is an interesting twist on a tile laying game, where the tiles (actually cards) represent bits of shops. The tile can be laid at any angle which can be used to shut doors of competitors's shops, and to create closed in alleyways which lose the value of the shop.

My PnP build is in one of my normal little home made boxes, with the tiles as plastic cards (actually printed double sided onto thin card, and then laminated). The ownership tokens are labels stuck onto both sides of greyboard/chipboard discs hewn from offcuts with an arch punch. If enough gets thrust at this item, I will upgrade those to labelled wooden discs.

Shipping worldwide is on me.

In these constrained times, I will offer just the only simple bonus:
1 = 1 entry,
5 = 6 entries

The item will be drawn just before next year.

Another PnP game from James Ernest (with Mike Selinker) and his Cheapass games, 12 Days was a big hit with the family last Christmas. So much so that one of the daughters absconded with my copy, and I had to make another one. Or two. This was first published last year and it is currently available for a free download on their website (www.cheapass.com). It has also just had a successful kickstarter campaign, and is about to be republished with sparkly new graphics (though I prefer the simple original graphics, FWIW).

It is an interesting trick taking game, where the player who wins the trick is the one that plays the lowest card. Before each trick, players pass a card to the left and draw a new card, so their hand is always full. The winner of the trick wins the next day card, and the day number is part of your final score. You also score for the player at the end of the game with the most cards of each denomination in hand. So you want to keep small cards in hand to win tricks, but want big cards in hand to earn the big bonus for the most cards of that denomination.

One of those games that seems so obvious, once you have seen it, that you cannot understand why it has not been around for ever (or why you didn't think of it).

My PnP build is a hand crafted tuck box (based on the template generated at http://www.cpforbes.net/tuckbox/ ). The cards are plastic (actually printed double sided onto thin card, and then laminated), with the Christmas tree backs for the gift cards and the fireplace backs for the day cards.

Shipping worldwide is on me.

In these constrained times, I will offer just the one simple bonus:
1 = 1 entry,
5 = 6 entries

The item will be drawn on December 14th, in the hope that the game can get to you by Christmas. People with big tips (please) who are not on here regularly may like to GM me with their addresses in advance, to facilitate quick shipping if they are lucky enough to win.

At every 500 I will offer another copy.

Year end housecleaning has begun at Le Chateau du Gambit -- this is another game that has come to me but is simply not "my kinda game", though the gallery photos on the Pit Fighter page do seem pretty interesting.

These photos show the actual game I am offering, new and still sealed in the shrinkwrap:

Please be sure to note that the lower left corner on the back is mooshed in just a bit; I'm sure it shouldn't affect the components, but want to be open and honest about it (if I've done this right, you should be able to view a larger photo to see that better if you wish).
