Full day of gaming at the Los Altos public library in the heart of Silicon Valley. Great attendance. Great group. Played well into the night.

Next event is on August 5. For more information, check out the BAGD web site at http://davekohr.best.vwh.net/gamesday/

See? I managed to successfully dress you down without looking like a petty churlish man.

Was a pretty awful mistake. I might have made a similarly awful one too.

Interesting game, a lot to it, although perhaps not as much to my tastes as Antiquity is. Does seem like the whole nature of the game changes depending on the initial terrain layout.

Yes, I agree... new map = new game. I would say this is a Good Thing. I also think I might like Anitquity a bit more, since there are multiple paths to victory, where R&B only seems to have one. Although I haven't played R&B with any of the expansions, that might help.

3-player game. Titanic clashes between the French and Hapsburgs (and the Hapsburgs and Ottoman), along with a lucky Edward roll for England and the co-operation of the English and Protestant (controlled by the same player in a 3-player game) to push the English Reformation resulted in a turn 4 win for the English. This despite a bad start for the Reformation in Germany -- all five of the 95 Thesis attempts failed!

A lot of fun. Took about 4-5 hours I think. Seemed shorter!

Played a "quick" one waiting for more people to show up to play something else. This is a great game for kids if you haven't played it before.

We played an unusual game where the provost (or bailiff, or whichever it was) never caused any actions to be voided

We played a separate 4-player game that was also rather friendly. I think only one person every paid to move the bailiff.

I'm still trying to figure out the endgame for this one. I keep coming close, but making a bad mistake towards the end to ruin my chances of victory. Bah.

Experienced.

Inexperienced player tend to play their workers where they can be removed by the bailiff--we weren't doing that. And those that were close were protecting themselves with the one that allows movement for free.

Also the Provost was moved out ahead early so it was usually 2 or more spaces ahead of the more advanced building. When at least $3 have to spent in order to affect anything, it tends not get spent.

I know that the China Borderfights expansion is listed later on this Geeklist but under a different name. If plain old garden variety China was in fact not played, it should be removed from this list.

I wasn't aware that Border Fights now had a 'geek listing. I didn't see base China being played anywhere, but of course can't promise that.

We played a 3 player game (1 of those players new to the rules) with the standard number of influence. I thought the game was quite fun and was just starting to get *really fun* when we ran out of influence.

I came out the winner, mostly due to the fact that I assaulted cities on the first turn vs. sieging and thus getting ahead in votes and influence.

I'm definitely looking forward to getting in a few more games of this with more players and using more influence.

My first time playing. The free-form turns make for an interesting game. Despite the fact that we had three newbies (including myself), everyone played at a good speed and the game was over in no time at all. Partly because Mike cleaned our clocks.

Yeah. I don't think I'd ever before played a game where someone built a palace every single turn.

The pace was amazing too. It almost felt like it couldn't really be a deep game if we got through it so quickly. But Maharaja absolutely has some depth to it.
