There are are many games that are released to the public to print out and play. Right now I am not in a position to be able to buy many games so I love the idea of being able to print some new games. I am not talking about games that people have scanned so others can print them. The games I am referring to are the games that people created for gamers to play and enjoy at no cost.

I would appreciate your comments on any of these games you have played.

*I have updated the list to allow public additions. I was able to keep up with all the great new free games being released!

Imperium: From Republic to Empire is a game of politics and intrigue set against the backdrop of the late Roman Republic (113 B.C. – 49 B.C.). Each player controls a faction of influential Roman Senators who seek to gain power and influence by competing for elected office, leading Rome’s armies to war, administering justice, and expanding the Republic. Advantages are also gained through less noble activities involving conspiracy, bribery, and corruption. Success will require both competition and cooperation as all factions must work together to ensure the stability of Rome. Failures of the Senate and unmet public demand will increase civil unrest, leading to revolt. Excessive war involvement will overextend Rome’s military resources. Committing more funds than what is available for financial obligations will bankrupt the State Treasury. Each of these situations will ensure the fall of Rome causing all players to lose the game. In the midst of these challenges one Senator may gain sufficient prestige as to obtain Imperium Maius (Supreme Authority) and in so doing become the First Emperor of Rome.

The game was designed to be a simplified, less time-consuming alternative to Republic of Rome (Avalon Hill, 1990; Valley Games).

Age of Steam: Denmark was designed for commercial publication but is now made available as a free print-and-play expansion for the Age of Steam base game.

This map is intended to be played with 3 to 6 players, with the map reputedly playing best with 3.

Denmark has a both a new economic system (an extension on the one seen in Age of Steam Expansion: South East Australia), plus an entirely different Locomotive action and of managing and upgrading links.

22ra (translated “to 22” points) is a card-driven game that simulates basque hand-pelota games between 2 players, or 4 players when playing doubles. The objective is to score 22 points by playing cards, so that the opponent cannot or does not want to reach the ball or makes a foul when hitting the ball.

The game consists of 144 cards, 1 boardgame, 3 pawns and some tokens.

The Spanish instructions are here: https://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/1547571/como-hacerte-el...

We have released the game in Basque and Spanish. The English version will come hopefully in the following months whistle

PitLane is a boardgame that simulates a Formula 1 race. The race is a sequence of game rounds, which are divided into planning and movement. It is a game where strategically planning your movements is essential. Every driver has his own deck of "movement cards" which include straight lines, curves, braking and overtaking cards. Each round you may pick up a maximum of 4 cards, in the order you wish to play them, you then move your driver's car according to the cards directions, around the track. But be careful, picking all 4 cards every time could result in collisions with other drivers, going off the track, or running out of fuel.

Before a race begins, you must choose your fuel load and tyre types according to different variables, such as weather conditions, where warmer temperatures result in quicker tyre wear, and also your fuel strategy, as you must choose your race fuel for qualifying. To make these decisions, you look at the various statistics on your driver's information cards, and place markers upon the starting fuel load, and reliablity statistics, which change over the course of the race.

Built to draw out the best of your intuition and tactical skill, Paiko pits you in a one-on-one duel to out-build, out-position and out-maneuver your opponent with its new style of turn-based strategy. Paiko is less daunting than chess but has more grit than checkers, and in play feels a bit like Japanese chess meets Chinese checkers. As you play, you'll find Paiko creates an engaging tactical drama with enough clarity to let you create your own play style, and enough depth to foster a long term interest.

We've had players from 7 to 70 years old enjoy it. We think you will too. We provide a B&W version for print and play, optimised to allow printing on just about any printer.

1848-1849: Hungary Fights for Freedom is a solitaire (one-player) game in which you, the player, represent the government of Hungary – centred around the person of Lajos Kossuth – during the 1848-49 War of Independence. Your goal is to defend revolutionary Hungary against the enemies approaching from different directions, who are controlled by the rules of the game.

The game is divided into three Seasons: Winter, Spring and Summer. At the start of each turn you must flip a new Event card, apply its effects and move the enemy armies printed on it. Then you have a number of Action Points (also printed on the card) that you may use for different Actions. You can choose from five possible Actions: Attack, Siege, Strategic Redeployment, Raise Morale and Inspire the Army. At the end of the turn, you must do some Administration, e.g. modify the Morale, check for victory or defeat, do recruitment and redeployment.

The game aims to recapture the political, social and economical side of the conflict as well as the military one, in a format that is easily playable in under 1 hour.

Unbound:Endless War(former working title Hexit Strategy) is a turn based area control strategy card game where you place cards onto the board face down to build the map and leave surprises for your opponent. You control a small fleet of ships and are trying to occupy your opponent's base of operations without letting yours get conquered as well. For example I may surround my base with tiles that are difficult to attack from, or place a hidden explosion hex in the path I think my opponent is going to take to destroy their troops and the nearby hexes.

Haze Islands is an exciting adventure card game that feels like a board game. 1 to 3 pirates compete to defeat the Nemesis, while seeking fame and staying alive. The game is played on a modular board, which changes at the end of each round. If you like elegant games with a ton of tension, difficult choices, and a touch of luck, try it out. This medium weight and compact game is already being enjoyed by new and experienced players already.

Hi, I'm Charles from EX1ST GAMES. I'm a big fan of free PnP games and game contests. Thanks to the wonderful BGG community, I have put out a few games, but none of them have gone down like this one. The game is dripping with theme thanks to the awesome artwork by Vicente. Mechanically, it has a lot of nuances and surprises you will discover when you play. There really is no other way to experience it.

My free pnp cycling management game.
Rather excitingly (as far as I was concerned) I did away with dice rolling and movement on a board, instead the game uses "relative" position and time gaps over 20 (or 12 in the shorter version) sections of a race. The game has real cyclists (updated to 2011 season), real races and real teams.

Designer - AstroMiner & TactDecks: Reign of Heroes
mbmbmbmbmb

TactDecks: Reign of Heroes is now available as a free PNP.

TactDecks: ROH is a skirmish-level tactical game that can be played by 1-4 players (up to 8 if an additional core set is printed).

Set in a medieval fantasy world with sci-fi trimmings, the TactDecks setting pulls elements from the Dark Crystal, Krull, Dragonlance, and Mad Max.

Control a small party of specialized Heroes as you maneuver across a free-form board, acquiring ancient artifacts and taking advantage of the unique Terrain to conquer your opponent(s) and claim tactical victory.

TactDecks play is reminiscent of stalwart favorites such HeroScape and D&D minis.... all the fun of minis, but with none of the storage or transport headache.

The PNP is a full version of the game, with all of the TactDecks card-driven mechanics converted to printer/wallet friendly dice-based charts.

Quick Joust has BASIC and STANDARD rules.

Play time: 15 to 30 Minutes for a 2-player game!

Components
[2] Shield Location cards
[13] Orange player shield cards
[13] Blue player shield cards
[5] Broken Lance cards
[1] Unhorse card
[21] Orange player Joust cards
[21] Blue player Joust cards
[6] Knight Status Cards
Total cards = 82 cards

[2] Lance Tip Tokens

Victory
Knights compete for matches and Tournament points, a knight with the most won matches and points per match will become the Tournament Champion!
A player wins the game “and becomes Tournament Champion” by accumulating the most points after eliminating all other knights through unhorsing [5 points] or breaking three lances [1 point each break].
If a player’s lance tip token lands on an orange hex after the last joust cards are played, he has struck his opponents shield squarely and breaks his lance [1 point]; that player places a Broken Lance card in front of him. If a player breaks three lances [3 points] he wins the match.
If a player’s lance tip token lands on the center red hex after the last joust cards are played, he has unhorsed his opponent [5 points] and wins the match immediately! If both player unhorse their opponent [5 points each] at the same time and have equal number of broken lances [1 point each], the match is considered a draw and a new match must be played. If both players are unhorsed but one player has more broken lances than his opponent, that player is considered the winner of the match!
If both player’s each break three lances [3 points total] at the end of three runs, the match is a draw and they must play through another match!

The Gazala Gallop - Basic Game, which is the active one - uses the popular 1st Alamein/Battles for Alamein game system. It is regiment to division unit level, 5mis/8kms per hex, and has 14 2-day gameturns. (The Advanced Game is still there for its map, for anyone curious.) It plays in about 1.5 hours.

The Afrika Korps has superior speed/maneuverability, while the British 8th Army's 2nd and 22nd Armoured Brigades (which had the notoriously unreliable Crusader tanks) are subject to the British Breakdown Rule. The American Lend-Lease Grant medium tanks are the backbone of the most powerful British unit, 7th Armoured Brigade, while Valentine and slow, plodding Matilda British infantry tanks are in the 1st and 32nd Tank Brigades.

Airpower is abstractly modeled, as in Battles for Alamein.

The Allies have the option of a nonhistorical deployment, but are penalized in victory points for utilizing it.

As historically, Allied units are slow to activate/respond, so the Axis Player must hit fast and hard to flank and/or penetrate the Allies' Gazala Line and finally take fortress Tobruk, to win.

Well, I'm afraid it'll have to wait. Whatever it was, I'm sure it was better than my plan to get out of this by pretending to be mad. I mean, who would have noticed another madman round here?
