There are are many games that are released to the public to print out and play. Right now I am not in a position to be able to buy many games so I love the idea of being able to print some new games. I am not talking about games that people have scanned so others can print them. The games I am referring to are the games that people created for gamers to play and enjoy at no cost.

I would appreciate your comments on any of these games you have played.

*I have updated the list to allow public additions. I was able to keep up with all the great new free games being released!

Give each player one pattern card. You may look at your pattern card, but keep it secret. On your turn, you get to roll and fill. Roll: (This step is optional, except that you must roll if the previous player filled a blank space.) Roll the die. Fill: Put a piece in a vacant space that shows the same number as the die. If there are no available moves, you may put a piece in a vacant blank space. If there is no vacant blank space to fill, then roll again. Play passes to the left. The game ends when all spaces are filled. When the game ends, you must reveal your pattern card.

Turnio is a tactical game for two players age 10 or older. The chips show on two or four corners quarters of circles or squares. Each player chooses one of these symbols. The players try to place or turn the chips in a way that completes their symbols. Two quarters of the same symbol placed side by side are called a pair. Quarters which touch only at the corner, i.e. which are placed diagonally are by definition not a pair. For each pair completed, the player gains one point. That means a half of a symbol is worth one point, three-quarters two points and a complete symbol gives four points. The player who has collected more points at the end of the game is the winner.

In the game Warbands you are represented by a hero-mage figure controlling a party of a few or maybe a dozen characters on a battlefield. This complete party is called a warband. Each character in the wardband has an unique name. With you controlling this warband you can play the provided scenarios or the ones you created yourself but the game is also designed to battle versus an enemy warband. In an arena or in the open, battle it out till the enemy character is destroyed.

A bit of a racist game, although the problem is that instead of the usual jumble of immigrants coming in and mixing up and making friends, the government decided to bring in a whole load of Lebanese Immigrants from the middle of a war and dump them all together, and naturally a ghetto was created. These issues are never simple, and I am not into censorship, but be aware that this is a politically incorrect game, and then print and play or not as best you please

Players move their Giants around the board, ripping castles apart looking for treasure rooms. First player to acquire 4 treasure rooms (as the giants are trying to build their own golden castles) wins the game. Each player gets 5 actions points a turn. Action points can be spent to move to an adjacent space, pick up an adjacent room from the top of a castle or giant’s stack, place the top room of your stack on an adjacent square, or cast a spell, provided you have enough rooms to give to the local sorceresses.

This is the fourth set in my card driven wargame rules, and although still loosely inspired by the Battle Cry & Memoir '44 games by Richard Borg, the game no longer has a battlefield divided in 3 sections. Battlefield sections are great for ACW and WWII, but medieval battles need a different approach. The left-center-right wing Battle Cry/Memoir '44 principle has here been replaced by color-coding the units red, green and blue (activated by cards of the same color) thus enabling the players to concentrate their units anywhere on the battlefield if they wish so. Also, quality of armor plays a prominent role in medieval battles. Therefore the symbols on the dice are no longer representing infantry - cavalry - artillery but rather the quality of the armor of the troops targeted, whereby troops with heavier armor stand less of a chance of being killed than soldiers with lighter or no armor (see rules).

Special cards cover fundraisers, gerrymandering, apathy, scandals, and ballot tampering.

daVinci Games has released 6 free games and some of them look pretty good. http://www.davincigames.com/

GobCon at http://www.goblins.net/

I will add these to BGG Database when I get around to playing them.

The idea is excellent. For those of us with less internet enthusiasm, some hint of where to find the links to download the games would be of interest. You are welcome to explain to the more simple minded of us, including me, precisely how to interpret the links to find the one that leads to the destination.

You can also filter on PnP in the advanced search. Thus, for example, it is easy to come up with a list of PnP games that are dice games.
