This last weekend I was able to go to GenCon and play quite a few games for the first time. I had a great time meeting new people and playing the games with them. Thanks to the Rio Grande people and Fantasy Flight for their demo's, and to all the BGGers who met up and taught me these new games. I can't wait 'til next year!:D

As soon as the Dealer Hall opend I picked up a couple quick games and then sat down at a Fury of Dracula demo at the FF booth. This was the first co-op game I have ever played and it just seemed really hard for the hunters to find Dracula. Once we did find him he just played a card that allowed him to go anywhere on the board, which meant we lost the trail again.

He can't "just play that card". It is a play immediately card and the only way he can get it is if the hunters draw from the deck and it is given to him.

If you have him cornered, don't draw from the event deck. This is not a card he can hang on to alas.

This was my favorite game of the Con. Rio Grande demo'ed it for me and 4 other new players. The best part about the Rio Grande booth was that they would let you play a game to completion and that is what we did here with El Grande. I liked everything about this game.

I came to GenCon planning on buying this game. After I got a chance to play it I did go ahead and buy it. It is a medium to light game that will fit in nicely with the group that I play with.I

This was another O.K. game. I liked the whole "wrangling" idea with the mast and putting your pirates on either side. The people that I played with, one especially, didn't seem to like this at all. This probably would be a pretty good kid's game though.

This is the other game that I planned on purchasing over the weekend. I did purchase Thursday morning before starting to play Fury of Dracula, but I couldn't find the other BGGers that night to play with. However, there is always the other guy sitting at a table opening his copy that I could ask. I did ask him, we picked up one more person, and I had my first game. I really liked it and plan on breaking it out this Thursday for our game group. Thanks for lettin' me play Justin and Doug.

This was my first game on Friday morning. Also, it was the first game that I have ever played that is a racing game. I really didn't care for it that much.

Liked this one a lot. I was in the lead most of the way, or so it seemed, but in the end got beat out. The other two guys that I played with were also first-timers and they also had a positive feeling about the game.

This was my one "impulse" buy of the weekend. I played it a couple times over the weekend, lost both, but really liked the map and quick play. The fact that it doesn't have much conflict in it should help it go over well with my wife.

I was only able to make it to Gencon for 4 hours this year (YEESH), and this was the only game I sat down and demoed (well, I stood up and played Voltage, but that's not important right now).

Honestly, the game felt rather mechanical. I felt like I wasn't really making any hard decisions. My choices were always obvious, so I just felt like I was following a script of sorts. I'll play it again if I have the chance, but I was a little disappointed that I wasn't moved by it enough to buy it.

In my experience, if you're not making hard decisions in this game, you're losing.

While waiting for a couple people to return, dangerdave, pulled this out. I liked the idea of getting bad cards if you pass. I enjoyed this game and might pick it up someday. Not sure how the others liked it or not.

Very interesting game. I found it especially interesting how stubborn the group that we were playing with could be as far as refilling the goods squares. Nobody seemed to want to do it. I'd play this again.

When it cost 1 to refill and 1 to move an 1 to buy... yeah, you try to avoid refilling unless you don't have a good move to make. Not moving the boat and selling some goods is a decent move when there aren't many goods on the board. Plus you hold on the 3 coins for next turn.

As jcurtis55 said in his geeklist, there wasn't a lot of battling in the game I played with him, however two guys that knew each other before the Con did battle a little. I think this game would be better with people you knew and didn't have a problem with wiping them out.

I've only played Tempus 3 times, but my experience has been it's really difficult to wipe anyone out. You really have to choose your spots to attack carefully, and attacking a city is really tough as most people save back a fortification card or two. Having said that, I lost the Tempus game I played Friday night when I ad a level-3 city on the last round of the last turn.

As I mentioned on my list, this one is growing on me with more plays.

A friend of mine from Indiana, joined shotkanguy, his wife Barb, and Mark ( I didn't get your user name, sorry), for this game. It was the first time for all of us and took awhile for us to get all the rules down. Thanks to Mcguit, who was near by, we did. Mark played an excellent game and beat us all pretty badly. Thanks to Corey and Barb for getting this from the Game Library.

Mark cheated. He read the victory conditions while I was trying to figure out the rules. :)

This was a fun game to play. I thought I was going to win for sure, but do to a poor money supply, Ryan came from behind and took it. It seemed like a chaotic game, but yet a fun one. A mechanic I especially liked was the "secret decisions" part of the game and stealing another persons character.

Really had a good time playing this game. I was up pretty huge early on, bet after a few faulty bets, my bank roll came undone. Then I just kept trying to bet big and it didn't pay off. I also liked the board and bits. Very fun game if you don't mind the luck.

A very fun game. With more control than one might think for a game of this type, due to the auctions and different betting, er... investment decisions that can be made. At least in this game I felt that I could make meaningful decisions, unlike Pirate's Cove, where I just try to outguess people.
