Perhaps the oldest game in the list. Inspired by the Poul Anderson novel.

The novel in question being War of the Wing-Men, I believe (in case anyone goes looking for a novel called The Ythri, since there isn't one).

I think this is actually based on 'People of the Wind'.

'War of the Wing-Men' is a great book too, though. It's out of print under that name but sometimes pops up as either 'Earth Book of Stormgate-2' or 'The Man Who Counts'.

Did the Hot Spot map show the whole planet? I don't think it did, but I don't remember the game very well.

HOT LAVA DEATH!!! Sorry, had to say it. ;)

Also noteworthy for being designed by Bill Armintrout, founder of one of the other great gaming Web sites: http://theminiaturespage.com/

One of my favorite games. You can invade planets. Or if you'd rather, subvert their political systems, wreak havoc with their economies, storm them looking fornon-existant WMDs oops sorry. One of my favorite aspects is that specific military units can only be produced by certain political systems.

Nice game but certainly doesn't deal with the conquest of a single planet. Standard multi-star system Galactic Empires stuff.

TSR minigame which was rad when I was in 6th grade. (The map doesn't look like a whole planet, but the left side does wrap around to the right.)
13. Board Game: Buck Rogers - Battle for the 25th Century Game [Average Rating:6.35 Overall Rank:1284]

Cool, I already have 7 out of the first 10, I still really want Ythri though.
